The jets had a great 2020 daft with their new GM. They also have more cap space than any other team in this off season, and have 2 first round picks in 2021 and 2022. If they draft Trevor will also be able to get good coaches in the off season. I don’t think that is a bad situation at all to be in for Trevor.

The Cowgirls could realistically trade their current #4, plus some to get the #1. It would not surprise me.

Pass on the 1 was a completely normal call. It took a superhuman effort by 2 different guys to make an interception there, usually that's at worst an incompletion, and Pete Carroll lost the game of chicken with Belichek on calling a timeout, and was stuck with long third down personnel, and ran a smart play out of it.

No one is saying it was wrong to blitz or that no one ever blitzes hail maries. They're saying a cover 0 send everyone blitz is wrong and doesnt happen. And that's true.

Blitz is not interchangeable with cover 0.

It was similar but Janis was doubled. Pressure in hail mary situations can sometimes work, but it was just a great play by rodgers and janis, whereas the jets were in man to man against one of the fastest players in the nfl. So the jets play was definitely much worse

It isn't the exact thing. They had more guys in coverage and all of them were sitting the end zone. Lots of teams have done that. No one else that I can think of has called cover 0 on a hail Mary. That's something you call when you need to force a mistake, not run the clock out.

That wasn't the same thing. They wanted to apply some pressure because they didn't want to give Aaron Rodgers time for his receivers to get down the field for him to throw it into the end zone. Unfortunately they couldn't get the pressure to him and he was able to throw it anyways but they still had double coverage.

To be fair, Ruggs is probably the worst value receiver taken in the draft. When a guy that fast only catches about 40 balls from a top 5 pick QB, you know he’s a mediocre WR

firing of Williams was alway part of the tanking plan. The Jaguars are only one game behind the Jets in the standings for the Trevor Bowl Championship. Based on that, there is a strong motive for the Jets to keep losing. Can you imagine having made it this far and lost so many games only to lose the Trevor Pick to the Jaguars? That would be a true disaster of a season, wouldn't it? There's no doubt the Jets have intentionally allowed opponents to defeat them: I watched the NFL highlights of the Patriots loss...On one play a Jet cornerback allows an uncontested catch, makes no attempt to tackle or pursue. The receiver is literally allowed to run all the way across the field before turning the corner to score a TD. All the while the Jets cornerback slow jogs making certain never to catch him! On another late 4th quarter play I saw Jets QB Joe Flacco hold the ball forever waiting to get sacked on 3rd down even as a super-wide open receiver stood directly in his field of vision for an easy first down. So it's clear that tanking is a real ability that players and coaches can be instructed to do. In this case, for us to believe the Jets didn't intentionally allow a TD we'd need to believe: *An experienced Super Bowl winning play caller does not understand Prevent with 13 seconds left and would put no safeties back to guard the end zone. This is like claiming he has never seen a football game before and is just learning the game. *A professional cornerback would allow a receiver to get well behind him when he knows he has no safety support and all he has to do to win is tackle the receiver in the field of play after he catches. This is nearly like claiming this cornerback has never played football before. So all that leaves is the problem of the firing. Williams had only been hired in 2019. The Jets had missed the playoffs for 9 consecutive seasons coming into 2020. From the start of the season they probably intended to 'Tank For Trevor' and eventually fire several people to disguise this effort. The Jets were 7-9 in 2019...it's hard to drop from a fairly respectable team to 0-12 unless you're trying to lose. Gregg Williams probably knew he would be fired in-season at some point. He was following orders and I'm sure he'll get something good out of it.
