Watched his whole NBA career and I grew up a die hard bulls fan. Not enough credit is given to the teams that they beat. I was genuinely nervous come playoff time, but greatness came through. And the whole leaving for baseball was just as much a part of not having his dad in the stands to watch him. He didn't want to play without his pops there to watch. After he had time to grieve he got the itch and came back😁
The thing about George Karl that goes unmentioned, he KNEW how Mike was, He KNEW not to give him motivation, he KNEW Mike could turn the slightest thing into a grudge...So he just wanted to avoid any and all interaction with him. In doing so, he pissed him off 😂 you can’t win with this guy... he’s always gonna find motivation.
Jordan left a team with championship piecies still in place and they added four more players (Wennington, Kerr, Longley and Kukoc) to improve the team. If anything the success of the 1994 Bulls proves that Jordan's approach to leadership ACTUALLY worked. Scottie, Horace and BJ Armstrong were ready to be leaders of the team by that point after having won 3 straight championships with Michael. Just like the Pistons toughened Jordan up for any future challenge, Jordan toughened his teammates up for any future challenge. They failed in the playoffs because the Knicks were a better team. But if you want to know what "making your teammates better" actually looks, like; take a look at the 1994 Bulls.
Yes. If Scottie had done right at the end of that season, they probably would’ve performed well the following year too. It’s hard to motivate millionaires unless they themselves have enough pride to want to be great.
Jordan left a gigantic hole in the team. Delaying his retirement announcement so late, the Bulls missed free agent signings or trades. The Bulls had to settle for Pete Myers, who played all 82 games and started 81. Myers was a journeyman who bounced around the league, went to play in Europe, and then the Bulls picked him up from the G League. He averaged 7.9 ppg. None of the other new players played more minutes than Myers, and always or mostly came off the bench.
Michael Jordan was not a bully he was a motivator. It’s like joining the military and getting yelled at during camp. They don’t do that to bully you they do that to make you stronger mentally and physically. I don’t know a better way to explain this Jordan situation of being a so call bully.
Michael Jordan's system of improving his teammates in practice by being a hard ass is better for a team than LeBron treating his teammates as trade pieces. That's the reason why the Bulls made the semis that year. MIchael Jordan left a championship team with the championship mentality.
@@bruhbruh922 Jordan makes his teammates better lebron makes sure the team is built to suit him that's why his teams are never good without him because they're always made to be good only WITH him.
Jordan had super talented teams most of his career tho, James has pretty much carried almost every one of his teams and unlike Jordan was able to go to multiple different teams and get them into the finals (Lakers are on the verge)
Can’t use the “Bulls team was good without Jordan too” line. Lebron, every year, around the all star break cries about what he doesn’t have and they trade away players. Look at what he did to Cleveland twice! just left them with nothing.
Michael Bryant eastern conference SEMI finals. If you’re gonna put someone on blast make sure your facts are straight. Your lack of knowledge is showing.
Jordan Quotes "I want to win at any cost, and I want them to enjoy and be part of the winning, that's why I push them hard". LeBron gonna trade you for pieces that fit him so when he leave the system leave and players are just pieces. Its never a team with LeBron.
Jordan was a real leader and coach on the floor. Lebron is a superstar player but I think he is fully focused of what HE has to do-which he rarely fails at hes a stud-but hes not coaching . Feel bad he has to be compared to Jordan.
It was and still is all for himself. The media made this hype about him coz he sells. But maybe 10 years after he retires, all we can hear of him will be his flops and choking.
Sunday night: last dance, M-Sat: recaps of Last Dance.....this has been my life for 5 weeks. Thank God ESPN casually hit us with TONS of 30 for 30s releasing soon.
I just love hearing people’s reactions that are young and did not grow up with MJ. All they have known is Kobe and lebron. Now they are starting to understand the boomers
Me too I grew up with Jordan had all his posters .. the first book I ever read was the Jordan rules in 7th grade .. you have to give props to all these young kids watching this doc and learning
@7:15, real answer yes: In 2016, the Miami Heat (with D Wade and Chris Bosh) go to the semi finals and are eliminated in 7 games. But Lebron is a joke in comparison to MJ, period.
They hated kukoc. It was even talked about during the 92 Olympics when the dream team played Croatia. They wanted to embarrass him when they played. Pippen wanted more money in his contract but instead gave it to kukoc when the bulls signed him
In his words, Jordan is looking at every game as a war and you don't want to bring newly drafted guys in a war! He was tough but I personally need that kind of guy to straighten me up!lol
Kobe is my favourite player of all time because that’s who I grew up with. Watching the Last Dance just made me realize even more how much he modeled himself after Jordan. LBJ on the other hand can’t only succeed by creating super teams which is why he will never get any credit from true fans of the game
@PatMcAfeeShow that same Bulls team with out MJ was below 500 at 32 and 35 before Jordan came back to take them to the Playoffs. Rusty from being out the game almost 2 years. The Bull after going to the conference finals without Jordan was 32 and 35. They was riding momentum
Jackson Parkinson no it’s not he is the hype he is the only person in nba history who had the highest hype and surpassed it. He is to me almost as good as kereem, and he can be considered better then mj.
Errol Duplessis I mean LeBron hasn’t achieved anything to the level of MJ. Like he just hasn’t reached the same heights. He doesn’t deserve to be compared
Jackson Parkinson that's right Lebron does not know & has no clue how to raise his teammates level of play the way Jordan does. Jordan will belittle, & be physical with his teammates. He has said he didn't care if he hurts their feelings. I agree with the way he treated them, he wanted to win. If they didn't want that too, they should get off the f**king team.
I completely disagree what Scottie did was a lose lose situation he looked terrible when tony hit the shot but if he missed it he would most likely be traded because the team already felt like he quit on them and them winning that game helps his apology a lot more than if they lost
I agree with you on that, as a Jordan fan growing up and seeing his whole career...Scottie was a great #2, but he was not the greatest outside shooter as well.
None of LeBron's teams could've gone to the EC semifinals without him?? I disagree with that....That Miami Heat team could have definitely gone to the EC semifinals without LeBron, maybe further... Plus, I'm younger than Pat and I saw the second Bulls 3peat and remember it pretty well. I'm not an old head who is stuck in the past- I would be in the age group that is considered the LeBron era and I don't even think it's all that close. I'm not even sure I'm willing to say LeBron is GREATER than Kobe. He just started saying it so much, constantly mentioning Jordan- that people started talking about it and it became a debate in this social media climate. He's played at a high level for longer and that can not be diminished- his stats reflect that. The guy is a machine..but the term is "greatest" of all time....It's not just about rings, it's not just about stats or accolades- it's a combination of all 3(among other things)and who has compiled the most impeccable, indisputable resume. That's MJ...
@@domcagney2352 those are the same morons that think that all the teams MJ faced were garbage teams without knowing anything about how basketball worked in the 90s or from knowing any of the talent level of that time.
Rick Medeiros He was definitely overcompensating with that laugh. Gary should have been on him the whole series. Would it have changed the outcome? Who knows, but even George Karl admitted he regrets not playing him on Jordan the whole series
Jordan invented enemies to keep him interested and to give him drive to win. Jordan made himself the enemy for his team mates to give them the same thing. You hate me for calling you out? Prove it. The winners will survive.
Lol after Lebron left they did go to the semis with wade and bosh in 2016 and lost in 7 games just like the bulls did, but for whatever reason the media loves to be ignorant when it comes to hyping him up. It’s like they have to continue to keep up the debate of who is better no matter what.
YES the Miami Heat DID make it into the eastern conference semifinals after LeBron left. And the Cavaliers didn’t only lose Lebron when he gave up on them. Get a basketball guy on your crew please. EDIT: It was actually 2 years after his departure because they suffered key players injuries the immediate following year.
The immediate year after they finished as a tenth seed. The fact that so many people are liking your ignorant comment is ridiculous. LeBron haters are a different kind of stupid.
@@Sharpryno you act as if injuries don't play a factor. The following year, the heat did rather well, even without Bosh. The bulls in 94-95 were a hot mess before Jordan got back.
Damn I missed the boat on this guy. I was watching rogan and alex jones when they were doing podcasts in their houses essentially. This guy is going to blow up in a good way
MJ IS AN EXAMPLE OF A WINNER ONLY ONE CAN BE AT THE TOP EVERYONE ELSE AT THE BOTTOM IS NOT PRETTY BUT WHEN YOU AT THE TOP IS A CONSTANT FIGHT TO STAY ON TOP
Lebron's team ~ The reason why the team struggled after Lebron left is because their offense was "Lebron Offense." Everything had to do it with Lebron. It wasn't about making the team better it was about how team needed to support Lebron's offense. Any player who couldn't support Lebron got traded. Lebron always have to have ball in his hands and only time his team would have it are when they need to shoot or pass. Jordan's team ~ Although hard on his teammates, Jordan was about making his teammates better in their positions. And they did.
well that's not false but also not entirely true. According to the doc, Jordan only became conscious of his teammates AFTER Phil brought in the triangle. Prior to that it was the "Jordan Offense" and had nothing to do with making his teammates better. Phil was the one with the idea to make the Bulls more of a team. Same/similar thing happened with Kobe. Lebron has never had the fortune of playing under a Phil Jackson.
What young people can’t get from the Last Dance or highlights is, what a menace Jordan was on both ends of the court on every possession every night. He was on another level. When he retired the first time the news networks (not ESPN) interrupted programming to announce it. Tom frigging Brokaw announced it. Not some sports guy, the lead news anchor. That’s how much gravity MJ had.
Don’t forget the following year when MJ came back with 17 games the bulls was 34-31 so second year without Jordan they was on the verge to miss the playoffs
In most people's eyes in Chicago, Scottie gets a mulligan for the 1.8 mistake he made. One impulse decision like that over an 11 yr. solid career with the Bulls as a great teammate does not make the man. At that time, he had spent years being paid like a second-string player, having to watch Krause fawn over Kukoc and bring him in making way more than Scottie. Then, after years of playing Robin to Michael's Batman, Scottie finally gets to be Batman and Phil draws up the winning shot for Kukoc. The guy getting the millions that Scottie should've gotten. You can see how that could cause an explosion in Scottie's head for a split second to have him make a bad decision like that. We still love him in Chicago, they weren't winning the Championship that year anyway.
Unpopular opinion: although lebron’s teammates can’t carry their teams to the semifinals without him does that say he doesn’t push his teammates to be as great as they can be in the way Jordan did
LeBron is passive aggressive that's the worst type of leader .. rolling ur eyes at teammates and not speaking like a man should .. they wears out quick .. being a jokester and dancing around on social media makes his teammates lose respect for you ..
When Scottie said if he had the chance to do it over again, he WOULDN’D have made a difference decision not to sit out the game, I had to replay it 3 or 4 times to make sure I heard it right! Are you kidding me? What an ultimate a$s!!!👎🏾
None of LeBron's teams ever made it that far without him? Oh, really? Are we gonna ignore the fact that The Heat lost in Game 7 of the conference semifinals in the 2nd post-LeBron season? Same exact thing. The only difference is the Heat sucked the 1st year after LeBron while the Bulls were barely above 500 the second post-MJ season before he returned from baseball.
The year after James left the heat they made it to and did ok in the playoffs the year he left the heat was full of injuries but when the heat had a healthy team they where still a playoff team without James
Pat McAfee apologizes for having to take so many breaks. It's because he had 3 helpings of navy beans last night and the cook had forgotten to use Beano.
Damn, just lost a little respect with that lie about Lebron. The Heat made the conference semi's after Lebron just like the bulls did without MJ. Why do people lie so much when talking about Lebron? Even a former player like this gets so caught up in the false narratives.
I love the people that come on here like there is a respect meter and people making the content see it and care, throughout the clip pat defends both the east was terrible at the time LeBron had his run he got his chip with the cavs thats why he left for the 2nd time
I would probably take the Kerr route (fight). I’m not going to let you emasculate me, but I recognize that you’re a beast and want me to perform at the absolute best that I can.
7:30 The 94 Bulls was a 3 peat team that ADDED Kukoc, Wennington, Kerr, Longley They didn’t win the division They lost 2nd round to a team they beat the year before
Lebron also leaves his teams when they are injured so it’s hard to make that argument about the team doing well after Lebron leaves. The teams are built around him, once they are injured he leaves. Of course once he leaves they aren’t gonna be as good
7:11...the answer IS no. But put it in perspective. The Bulls ran an an offense and were coached...with and without MJ. Thats not the case for lebron. All posessions have to start with him. And his teams are never coached into systematic way of playing.
MJ was the greatest thing ever his fame his coolness his look the way he carried himself he was world famous and beloved in a way that if you were not alive you wouldn,t understand he was like 10 lebron,s all rolled into one
This isn't on anyone's radar, but it's on mine. My uncle played football at BYU with Ty Detmer. He said Detmer was in every fight that happened during practices. He'd call out receivers who were afraid to catch the ball over the middle. It's so dumb to cast aspersions when the point is to win
