So it’s a drying alcohol not a fatty alcohol? I’m assuming they are using it for faster dry down time or for the ingredients to play better together ? It doesn’t actually say which alcohol they are using , does it ? By the way , Beet Shield by Liah Yoo , I love her brand , her RU-vid channel & her general knowledge , such a lovely person too . Anyway ,we can’t get her brand here in Canada yet , none of her stuff is available sadly . I wish I could get someone to send it to me ( the Beet Shield ) but alas , I don’t wanna bug anyone . I love that in Korea her sunscreen product is called - beet the sun with that cute little double meaning there . Just digging your channel!

I think your opinion on that is going to depend on skin type. I think dryer skin types can really love them. Silicone heavy things tend to clog my pores so I just use those things sparingly.

@@aliciaarcher I use the first aid beauty tinted moisturizer and a concealer where I need extra coverage everyday. I really like that combo. I'm lucky my skin is in pretty good shape. Mac face and body is what I use if I need to go somewhere and want to build up more coverage. I rarely need to go anywhere though, and that's good because that makes me break out a little. My skin is really sensitive to fragrance, silicones, and those chemical sunscreens so it's hard to find something that doesn't make my skin angry.

keely _cn that’s a great combo! Have you tried the new Purito unfragranced sunscreen? It has the newer UV (organic) chemical filters that are sensitive skin friendly. I have the one with lavender oil in it, but they made a fragrance free version!

sacgemini I’m always perplexed as to how the staff is not on board info wise about a launch like Pat’s. I also experienced this with the Biba palette. It’s like everyone was clueless 🤦🏽‍♀️ And there was confusion about the powders and primers being sold exclusively on Pat’s website. Why did it say “avail online and in store 7/26” on the app!? Anyway, my powders are on the way 😅

I knew you’d bring it with this video! The mix of 15 & 17 looks amazing together. I popped into Sephora this morning to find my shade and ran into Michele at the Pat McGrath bay and she helped me find my match (22)! She’s absolutely as amazing as you’ve always said. I bought mine as soon as it dropped. I'm crazy excited cuz Pat created Armani Luminous Silk and that's my HG. About the sunscreen, I used to apply sunscreen as my primer too then Sephora sent me a trial size of Supergoop Unseen SPF and I thought it was just a regular sunscreen but it's a legit primer. It reminds me a lot of the Smashbox Photo Finish. It's honestly soooo good and I've used it everyday this summer. Also, I always tell people who love SPF like myself: Tarteguard SPF powder is AMAZING. I originally just bought it to reapply SPF when I have makeup on because the packaging is really clever and I prefer it over other designs because it has a little clicky button, but it's so finely milled and soft and smells fantastic. I actually started setting my face with it and now I wish they sold tubs lol. It doesn't seem like it has a lot of product but it's so finely milled and packed in the container, you get a ton of use out of it

Hi Alicia. Just my 2 cents. I love the medium 15 on you by itself. I think the 17 makes it just a liiiiil bit too warm on you. Since you don’t usually bring your foundation down your neck it looks like a better match when you use 15 alone (because, as you said, it matches your neck) I took your advice and grabbed a sample last week to wear for a few days before making my VIB purchase today. So glad I did. I was M17. I’m a tad bit more bronze than you, but I love watching your reviews because our tones are so close it helps me get a better idea of what colors might look like on me. Thanks for your terrific reviews!

This really helped me confirm my expectations for the foundation. I'm a dry skin type, but I don't have issues with alcohol, etc in makeup because I understand their purpose. In my opinion, dry skin types should try to ensure their skin care is beneficial to their skin( and try to figure out exact sensitivities for their own skins rather than read an article then decide they're sensitive without having been sensitive before when using certain ingredients) because as you say skin condition fluctuates due to a variety of factors, and I also believe makeup's primary function is aesthetic. I also think a protective primer for a dry skin type or sensitive type is something that is beneficial because I've learned over years of being exposed to various brands from various price points ( because of working in entertainment and never knowing what will be in a makeup artist's kit) that even the most gentle formulations can mess with your skin if it's not in a good state and you don't have a protective primer you trust on. The texture is what I'm looking for, and I think this is the first time I'd be happy to buy 2 shades, even though it's not unusual for medium to medium-dark persons to have to do this. Why? Because this is the first time I've actually seen shades from an official swatch photo panel that I feel would look like the range of shades my skin can be and look like skin tones I see in daylight without filters or insta techniques. I've seen so many ranges with a large number of shades that I don't feel comfortable ordering, and would instead go for brands available everywhere at a counter, because I look at the shades, lighting and the actual shade on a reviewer and find that there's too much discrepancy or it looks unreal in a not human skin colour way. I've even thought that some of the brown shades in large ranges were just... well, as a person living in a country with the majority of the population being some shade of brown( and we have the full spectrum), that the shades used to make a brand more inclusive just did not achieve that purpose. So, I'll be looking forward to your updates and your opinion on the powder.

I wholeheartedly agree! Thank you for taking the time to share your insights, Rosa! It is much appreciated. I’m not a cosmetic chemist, scientist, or toxicologist, but I do try to filter out the nonsense when I can. At the end of the day, it’s all about how the makeup looks and feels. I would’ve still tried the primer had it not contained fragrance. And it’s more because I’m just sensitive to them. I’ll never forget when I tried Fenty for the first time, I smelled it on me ALL DAY, and it was not comfortable to my senses. Will Pat’s primer do the same? Not sure, and I’m open to trying a sample of it at least! I am curious about how primers behave on sunscreens, and the effects of layering them. I don’t know if it will negatively affect the film, but I can ask a couple of ppl. I agree when you have an ingredient bias, because I have mine (fragrance), that we’re quick to blame it for an unfavorable experience. And I get it, especially if those circumstances are consistent. But it’s hard to pinpoint as you said because there are so many factors! For instance, ever since I started wearing this foundation, I developed three small pimples. But you know what else happened? My period is coming, it’s hot as all heck, the area was picked on previously, and I was fighting with someone in the comments section 🤣 And if anything I’m convinced my micro breakout is due to the latter! And in regards to the shade range, I agree that these are pretty consistent. Someone mentioned that they didn’t think the photos matched well, but I thought they did? I also think seeing something through a device screen can play a role in believing that the swatches are not reliable. And to have 36 and nail the undertones is admirable. Not every foundation line needs 100 shades. As long as the shades and undertones are evenly spread out, a 36 shade range can be phenomenal. And the fact that the texture is sheer makes it forgivable.

My Problem is, that I can’t see the shade range in Store 🤦🏻‍♀️, I can only buy it via Pat direct ... and I don’t know wich shade will be perfect for me 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️ ( I am NC30 atm) 🙃 And her POWDER is ONLY 5g 🤯💥 for this price tag 🤯 No ! I appreciate the time stamps but i like to watch the full ramble :) The box is so easy on the eye. Someone i watch, can't recall who, said that any ingredient after the preservative ( pheny in this case) are in such small amounts they can't have any skin benefits. Have you heard this? kinkysweat I’ve worn it 3 times now. I have combination skin. The first time with the Tatcha Silk Canvas on my pores and the CT Wonder Glow on the areas I wanted to bring more light, and I really liked that combo. Day 2 I tried the Hourglass Mineral Veil and I didn’t like that as much underneath it. My skin didn’t look as smooth and the foundation looked more dry. And today I wore just the Silk Canvas. That’s my favorite so far beneath it. I can’t wait to be able to get a sample of her primer when it comes in store at Sephora to be able to try that!! How did the foundation wear for you with your sunscreen as the primer? Did you feel it lasted on your skin? I did powder 2 of the days. I love the fresh skin look that the foundation give without powder, but I feel I had to powder at least a little bit or else my oils broke through too much. I can’t wait to hear what you think of her powder! I’m definitely picking that up!! 🥰

I found you through Michele and you are fantastic! I love that you are a skin care nerd!!!! And, this review along with Michele’s is the best I have seen. You look beautiful. Since you are an ingredient nerd, you’ll appreciate the first 5 ingredients are exactly the same as Pat’s Armani foundation creation!! (The alcohol and the Isododecane are reversed in Skin Fetish but all five are the same). I look forward to your thoughts in the coming weeks. I have Lupus and Rosacea so I will pass.

Yes 😪 Unfortunately those with eczema or rosacea already have a compromised skin barrier. And anything drying like alcohol will worsen the condition.

An Alicia upload on PM foundation launch night--yes!! I always love huge launches because you are consistently on top of it. I watched Michele’s video right before yours; quite a 1-2 punch. I know that for most, alcohol is not a big deal in foundation, but my rosacea and alcohol do NOT get along!! 😢. You looked beautiful in BOTH shades and I love how you went through the decision process with your viewers! Your skin looked amazing before you set it with powder and concealer and after you set WOW!! 😍 Thank you for the review - I think I’m shade 15 or 17 also and had same thought as you.. 15 is too yellow, 17 too dark but better undertone... I picked up both samples today but will prob end up buying both shades to mix.... and then want the new Charlotte T foundation next month 😣🤩🤩

I was at Sephora at 10am!! I really like it. I matched it to my tan. Will just get my winter color when the time comes. Her live Instagram showed how to get it to full coverage. With the powder. Foundation powder foundation powder. It was much fuller coverage. I ordered the primer and powder on her website. Was bummed that Sephora only had the foundation. Great video as always !!

GUESS WHOMST BACK! It me with my Mothership 3 finalLY! Serendipity: I don’t wear foundation/concealer but I DID happen to get my palette today! ALICIA! Gigabyte is L I F E changing. There’s a richness and depth that does not translate on camera. It just can’t, it’s too multifaceted. That all over the lid with Night Creature mixed on top, blended out with some bronzer sounds like a good place for me to start. 🥰🤤✨ 🚨 I’m sorry in advance for the flood of comments I’m inevitably going to leave as I catch up on your uploads and rewatch some tutorials. 🤷🏾‍♂️🙋🏾‍♂️💖

Great job, Alicia! Very thorough and informative review. I'm so glad that you loved it. It looks beautiful on you, and I think you can wear it with either or both; It looked good, either way. It built up really well, but didn't look built up AT ALL. Honestly, can we really expect anything less from Pat McGrath?! Bravo to her and her team! I CANNOT wait to get mine; I upgraded to 2 day air, so... It took me running back and forth to my computer, all evening to finally finish watching this....BUT, finally... Great review, and Bravo to you for getting your first impression up so quickly, but not haphazardly in the least!

This video was the best! I loved your ingredient breakdown and explanations. I loved that even though you freakin' love Pat McGrath, you were super honest and unbiased in your review. Extremely helpful. Cracked up at your "who am I, Michele Wang?" remark. I'm gonna watch her video next as I love her and have a light skin tone and dry, sensitive 40 year old skin. But if I had your skin tone, your shade matches would have been super helpful. I appreciate that you took the time to do that. The different techniques sounded intriguing! I would butter up before going in with the foundation. Everyone has a different opinion about alcohol, but drier skin types are definitely more sensitive to it. Keep me updated!

I'll be able to use exactly the same shades as you! Thanks for the informative review! I always used to buy two shades (1 neutral/yellow and 1 golden) when I had a lot of hyperpigmentation along my jaw line. Now, if my foundation is on the lighter side, I use a powder to bring warmth to my face.

Yes, I was waiting on this video! The shade guide on the website seemed so helpful. The deeper shades are expanded beyond belief. I may have to make a trip to a larger Sephora that carries the full range in store to get a nice shade match. I use you as a general shade viscinity for foundation matches. I thought 21 would be perfect, but seeing as how you went 15, maybe I'll try 18. Awesome tutorial and try-on! I'm looking forward to seeing the powders as well.
