$68 is a tough pill to swallow. Especially when the gal at the Chanel counter literally asked me just yesterday what I was wearing. Answer - my trusty CYO set with Huda Beauty. Should've seen her mouth drop when I told her the price point. 😂 You look beautiful in this like always!! ❤️

There are definitely amazing products out there at all price points! I'm sucked in by good packaging and creature comforts, but at the end of the day I just want things to work as intended, regardless of price. It should do whatever it says it will do!

I heard from Thataylaa that CYO is being discontinued and repackaged by their sister company Soap and Glory and it will be more money. You may be able to stock up before they close up shop.

She sure does. I just love PMG! And an update - I've worn this 4 times now, 4 different ways, and it wears best on me with a different primer (my Strivectin Line BlurFector has worked best so far). I also seem to like it best not set with any powder. So I guess it's a thumbs-up for the foundation and a possible pass on the powder and primer.

I just barely tried this foundation, Ive seen so many mixed reviews, I LOVE it on my 42 year old aging skin. I ordered it from the PML website and have heard so many horror stories on how long it takes to get the product and how the package comes damaged but mine came in perfect condition and very quickly too! I love the concealer and undereye powder as well! Got it all 25% off I am a happy camper!

Hi Jessie! The No 7 Line Correcting Booster Serum is the thing that has totally been working on my smile lines and crow's feet/forehead lines. I'm on my second bottle of it. I also use the Drunk Elephant A-Passioni retinol two nights a week, and do an acid toner at least 2 days a week (like the Tarte Knockout). Those are the components that I think make the most difference.

Omg I saved my gift card I got from savings my points to use for the launch at Sephora as well 😂 I got the primer and the foundation but not the powder because being a dry girl I shy away from powder. I just received it in the mail yesterday and so far I am really loving it. I didn't use any powder and didn't have any problems of caking or breaking up. After watching your review I am glad I didn't get the powder. As always another great review 👍😊

I think most of the special-ness was invested in the foundation. The primer and powder are fine but probably not worth the price tag unless you're the kind of person that doesn't care what things cost. (That's the kind of person I dream to be lol).

Hi this was my first time viewing your channel and stopped here because you are closer to my age and I wanted to know your opinion on Pat's foundation. I have the system and am enjoying it. My color selection was a bit off at first but now it's a match. The overall appearance is so natural I use the foundation under my eyes as a concealer and it covers. I just wish I could learn a bit more about these products from mother herself. O and her mothership shadows are a learning experience. Also your color match is spot on.

I'm watching this but was thinking the new CT might actually work better for my skin? Now PM is back in the running! $60 primer in a plastic bottle. Yep - true artist for sure. I appreciate when there's intention behind everything, even if I wouldn't personally do the same thing. I guess most primers are in plastic bottles but it just seems so cheap for a $60 product. So pretty though...

I recommend mixing a little bit of your Purito BB Cream with this. It truly extends the wear time. I wasn't using my Armani Luminous Silk (another PM creation) because of the lack of longevity and Purito saved the day! Once I finish up my ALS, I will definitely pick up this PMSF on sale. It looks even prettier than ALM.

Shelly!!! Im soooo happy you got this foundation review up 🙏 I have been putting it in my cart and taking it out of my cart 50 times because of the price because PAT McGRATH! I feel like I should need it LOL and I always lean toward more sheer light coverage type of foundations so.....your daylight checkin was terrific I thought it looked so great! I have been devouring reviews on this and actually people have been thinking they like it better without the primer, go figure, but worth a try I think. As for the swearing like a trucker, I feel ya LOL time and place friend, time and place 🤘🏻

I am going to stick to my Strivectin primer. You got me hooked on that lol. Compared to 60 bucks it’s a bargain. I have normal combo oily skin, that foundation would probably break up on me. Thanks for the review Shelly.

I just ordered the new Strivectin eye primer, same line - it's supposed to blur under the eyes and crepe-y lids. I can't wait to try it!! I always have backups of that primer. It's my daily go-to.

I've heard others say that the primer might be the "culprit" in the decreased wear time, wear-off, etc. Maybe give it a try w/ your favorite primers other than the PMG. I bet you'll get longer wear time. It sure does look beautiful on!

Yep that's my next experiment! I wore it again yesterday with the primer and just a tiny bit of the powder and it wore a little longer but still not as long as I'd like. Next up I'll try my usual primers.

It's an investment foundation for sure. I've been wondering if the bounce of green light in my back yard is messing with the colors when I film out there :-D I've only had that problem since everything turned green! I do love it though. It's so relaxing to me!

Thanks, Lina! I've increased the retinols in my routine (I'm doing the Drunk Elephant Protini twice a week now) and I think my skin is liking it. Everything else is the same (still doing the glycolic serum and acid toners, along with my usual face masks).

If you can find a Sephora that carries it in-store you can usually get a sample large enough to wear it a few times before deciding. They take open-box returns of course but it's easier not to spend the money if you end up not liking it.

I definitely think it's worth other tries with maybe different primers/powders. It's definitely pretty. I'm with you though, Dior Skin Glow is my current fav. I'm just trying out the Double Wear and struggling with it a bit. Not sure if it's the shade, or I'm just tan right now, but I like it so far. Keep up the awesome work and I truly hope you're feeling better soon. Take care of you.

@@goow Yes it does seem to hold up extremely well. I think it much be that it's fuller coverage than I am used to and I don't think my mac fix plus works with it. I'm way too shiny and my winter colour in the summer. I'm somewhere around an NW 20-25. So I went with 3C1 Dusk and some how it makes me look pale, but I think the next shade up is too dark. I'll have to keep trying as I really do like it.

Wow! It sounds like there’s actually hope that I’ll finally get a shade match! Being Japanese, quite fair with an olive undertone it’s almost impossible to find a shade match unless I mix foundations. Seeing the shade you chose for yourself looked very nice too. There are a lot of things I wouldn’t mind dealing with if I could finally find the right shade match!

LeeAnn Mcclintic I don’t know if you have dry skin like Shelly, I have normal skin and the Tarte Water Foundation in 15N is a pretty good match for fair, leaning towards light skin. If I’m living in Germany during the winter, the It Cosmetics CC Cream in Fair is a good match; if I’m in the US, I have to mix the fair & light shade. Would love to hear any good shade matches you have found.🙂

Instead of foregoing the powder, how about spritzing your face with a rehydration spray like MAC Fix+ (not setting spray) and then tap those problem areas out with a very slightly damp beauty sponge first. Or spray Fix+ directly on your beauty blender and tap the areas out. There are so many things you can do prolong the wear. Even try applying the powder in the beginning with a damn beauty blender (with or without your favorite setting spray on the beauty blender) vs powder brush, so it melts the powder into the skin.

@@sweetox_9690 Yes, I mean midday. When you have dry skin, especially if it is peeling, misting your skin with a hydrating spray throughout the day makes a huge difference.

So glad you reviewed this and the primer and the powder! I thought from your multi-swatches that it looked dark, but then it looked much lighter when you applied to your face. I just cannot pay $68 for a foundation. Her pricing is outrageous and I wont support it. I also got the new Lorac palette.🤗

Thanks for spending all those $$ to review this! I think we may be seeing more plastic bottles in the future. Recycling glass is becoming more expensive. My city, which is progressive and has a healthy budget, has quit accepting glass in the recycle receptacles that are picked up weekly due to cost. The new Urban Decay Naked Weightless foundation comes in a plastic bottle. I’d love to see you do a review on that. Urban Decay is also using the undertone system for this foundation. I’d also like to see the new Fenty and ABH foundations reviewed. You look great in that deep burgundy color!😊

I didn't even think of the recycling issue. My town has stopped recycling altogether :( I bought the new UD foundation (for next week!) and I'll be getting the ABH too!

The shade I wear is Fair 2 which just about matches me. They have one shade lighter, Fair 1, which is a solid whole shade lighter but a yellow undertone, so it looks whacked on me. 2 is more pinky.

Hi Shelly, Pat McGrath had a great Instagram live story with a primer, foundation and powder demo on several models. I can’t find it now so it appears it wasn’t saved. Pat indicated the foundation is intended to be applied with fingers and then followup with a brush. Also it appeared that VERY little powder was applied. I don’t own this foundation but I have a hunch that the Tatcha dewy mist may have contributed to the foundation breaking down. Pat said the foundation has alcohol in it to bind the ingredients. You had mentioned a smoothing sensation. That was likely due to the alcohol evaporating (think of a mild shrink wrap process). The good news is that results in skin with a beautiful smooth appearance. I think though adding the moisture in the Tactcha mist is accelerating the breakdown of that smooth and somewhat tightened foundation canvas. My request for another wear test is to apply the primer, foundation, only the lightest application of powder and no dewy mist and no setting spray. Thank you for testing this. I’m not sure if I’m comfortable purchasing the foundation since alcohol is the 4th ingredient. My skin barrier is somewhat comprised and alcohol that high in the ingredient list may not work for me 😔

She's got alcohol as the fourth ingredient but doesn't state if it's a denatured or SD alcohol (drying) or a fatty alcohol (emollient). The formula feels very moisturizing at the end of the day so I would suspect it's a fatty alcohol.

Geek Out of Water thanks for the quick reply. I had thought it would be a hydrating alcohol too until I watched another YT wear test review of the foundation. The reviewer had reached out to someone with ingredient/packaging knowledge and was told that in the US, if a cosmetic lists an ingredient as alcohol (and no additional description such as Cetyl alcohol) then the ingredient is a basic alcohol such as denatured alcohol. After watching the video I googled the fda website which indicated the same thing. I love PMG other products very much but will need to approach the foundation carefully with a patch test or bypass it. I’m glad you didn’t find it drying. The shade match you selected looks great!

Hey Shelly! When did you move!?! I've been MIA(from your comments) for a bit, I know, but I didn't forget about'cha! Good, honest review! Thank you! If you remember, we have almost identical skin types, except for I'm a couple of shades darker(shade 9 here). Since I've ordered The System, brushes and ALL(but have yet to receive mine); I was happy to see you posted a review! I've watched quite a few reviews/first impressions, and yours is the first that has mentioned a wear time issue, so far. But guess what? Most didn't have the primer and/or powder. So, I'm really glad that you waited to feature it on one of your Foundation Fridays, and that you had all of it. Thanks for the heads up! Did you hear about the sandwich method that Mother Pat apparently recommended? Prime, powder, foundation, powder again. I may come back, and let you know if I had the same experience, and whether or not I found a fix. My channel will be going up, very, very soon...Finally!

I’m wondering if the primer is part of the problem, too. Jamie Paige reviewed this, and she did not like it with the primer/foundation combo so she washed her face and used her normal primer and liked it so much more. I’m hoping you’ll like it with your own primer because your taste in foundations suits me. 😉 Thank you for reviewing these products!

That's over $300 au for the 3, damn! That's the same price as my rent for a week! You've got CT, Wayne Goss brushes and all 3 products. You've got some coins there..(so jealous) I'd love to invest in CT products and the Wayne Goss brushes are a pipe dream at present. I have picked up the foundation with my sephora points and birthday coupon! As it was $106au dollars before shipping, it was painful handing over my visa card let me tell you! I hope it enhances my skin and doesn't make me look older than I am. Thanks for the really thorough review!

Let me know how you like the foundation! I got my WG brush set for my combo birthday/Christmas gift from my mom a couple years ago :) Then I bought another set a year later with the Beautylish payment plan that they offer. Otherwise it'd be tough to drop that money all at once!

Maybe that's where the money went instead of a glass bottle for the primer? :/ From here the finish looked very smooth with a spot on color match. Too bad about the longevity though. Yep the Wayne Goss 01. It's a lovely brush. I usually just use an Elf ultimate blending brush since it works well and is something most people could easily have in their collections, but with a foundation at this price point it's probably more likely people might have nicer brushes too. So I grabbed the WG :)

I bought the primer, but am trying to figure out if i like it enough to keep it. I love right when i put it on things look blurred, but I feel like it doesnt last long. Idk if its giving me the hydration I want from it, or doing what I need it to do. I think it gets kind of hard to do moisturizing+blurring primers because once the hydration starts coming, the blurring effect I feel gets compromised. Idk. Its hard for me to stomach the $60 price tag if Im not 100% sold on it. lol. I also definitely notice a vanilly nauseating smell that doesnt go away.

I think you may be right that it's the moisturizing properties that end up negating the blurring properties over time. If I had to pick one or the other I'd go with moisturizing simply for the comfort factor, but for $60 it's a tough sell.

Do you think the breakdown area had anything to do with where you put the tatcha? It does look superrrr smoothing but for a girl who has 13-14 hr work shifts, the longevity wouldn’t work 😩

My nose tends to break down anyway (which is where I patted the Tatcha) so it's hard to tell! I had better luck with longevity using a very light amount of powder, but still not as good as I'd like. My next wear will be with a totally different primer and not the PMG powder.

This is the lip I was wearing - go.magik.ly/ml/p33v/ - I wonder if I've got old packaging (it's been in my bin for a while waiting to be tried) because the doe foot is the lip doe foot and it's definitely not an eyeshadow consistency. They have the same shade name for multiple products but of course don't put the product names on the packaging. It wore through a sandwich and touched up fine, which would surprise me if it was eyeshadow!

When I was looking at this house, I had visions of driving home from work after a stressful day and just living to sit in the back yard... it was an accurate vision. It's so calming and peaceful and relaxing to me! Every so often I'll see a black bear walk through on my yard camera. Haven't seen one in real time yet. There are deer here every day and I just love watching them!

Wow I wonder if it separated in the bottle? It's a liquid foundation but the typical thickness - not thin like water. Like a slow drip when held up on a palette. Not a runoff. Sephora usually takes open-product returns. I'd see if you can return or exchange it. That doesn't sound right.

It definitely freaked me out to order this far down the darkness spectrum but I think I probably could have even wiggled one shade darker for this time of year. It's so hard to know from online. My Sephora didn't carry it in store to go swatch it.
