FUN FACT: Morita once asked Foxx for a $3,500 loan as part of the downpayment on a home that he was trying to purchase for his expanding family. Foxx wrote Morita out a check for that amount, however, rather than have Morita pay back the loan, Foxx's only condition was that he wanted Morita to pay it forward to someone else who was in need when he was in a position to help out. This story came from Morita himself. This goes to show what a generous man Foxx was when it came to helping others out.

I am a man of little means by most measures, and in my few moments I have been fortunate to experience like this I have always expressed that same sentiment when given thanks for some small kindness: pay it forward when you can. It's heartwarming to know I am not alone in this train of thought. Thank-you kindly for sharing this very fun, heartwarming, and wholesome fact.

Now I will say honestly (and not afraid to tell on myself) that that was the only joke he told that I didn't get! The chopsticks and ribs, collard greens - all that I got but I didn't get the rice reference. Some enlightenment on that score would be VERY appreciated! 👍👍👍
@pymarathon
@pymarathon Месяц назад
@@TheDoctor1225 Obviously we're talking about stereotypes here, but generically "Japanese Rice" doesn't start from uncooked; fried rice, sushi rice, rice balls, ... You don't start til your Rice Cooker sings the song (...and if you consistently eat 2+ cups of rice per day a rice cooker is far more important than a microwave or anything). It gives a certain consistency to their rice dishes that Americans (pretty generically) weren't used to back then. I've had "Chicken and Rice" at cookouts that was f'ing delicious... 10/10. But objectively? That rice was wet as hell by most culinary standards. Literal garbage (as in they'd immediately throw it away without even tasting it) from most Japanese perspectives (as I understand it).
@kelvyquayo
@kelvyquayo Месяц назад
Basically Asian people (be they Japanese ,Chinese, Korean, etc) are stereotyped for making and eating a lot of rice. Black people are also stereotyped for eating White-rice. The 2 styles of rice as different in flavor as the cultures. 😊. a lot is in his delivery too.

Make them? They got made in factories or something? There’s no shortage of talented people now, that’s just your assumption based on what you see in the media. Just because they push talentless people to stardom, doesn’t mean there’s a lack of talented people. Just because YOU haven’t seen many or any, doesn’t make it a fact. There’s plenty that go unheard of because they aren’t being televised etc. THINK ARTHUR, THINK!

It was meant differently back then. Back then, people said "gang" to mean a group of things or people. "There was a whole gang of spiders in the basement" or "Come on gang, let's go to the park". Like how Shaggy used to use it on Scooby Doo lol. People don't use it like that today. When people use it now, it literally means a criminal organization lol.

@@TrueThanny actually, yes, he would have gotten more accolades. And better projects, whether they would be smaller or bigger. Just because he got "plenty in his own time" - - which is debatable---no one can say that he WOULDN'T have had more TV projects and franchises and prestige to be a part of. Let's not confuse his brilliance of telling jokes with what he'd be able to garner and accomplish, today.
