I doubt Rock was jealous of HHH the way HHH was jealous of the Rock. I believe, based on the things I've read and heard, that any resentment Rock had for HHH was based purely on the way HHH treated him and likely to do with the fact that he knew HHH was trying to derail his push. That derailing attempt goes back to when Bret Hart was still with the company and both he and HHH wanted Rock either de-pushed or gone altogether on account that they perceived him to be a Bret Hart guy. Also, that story about Brisco suggesting the HHH/Angle shoot fight - so, so awesome.

People often forget that the ratings for Raw started going downhill once Stephanie was put in charge of creative. At one point, they didn't have anything for Kevin Nash or Shawn Michaels after they lost to HHH. They really pushed the narrative that HHH beat everyone and will be remembered as the greatest of all time. It really set the company back creatively and drove people away from WWE.

Re: Benoit, and I’ve heard JR speak on this pretty well, he was never positioned as a top guy after winning the belt. Look no further than Bad Blood 04 where HHH and HBK was the focal point of all the shows whereas Benoit took a backseat on the shows, and throughout the summer he took a backseat to Evolution and Eugene. Eugene bombed after his big push, but Benoit was a glorified transitional champ.

Why does everyone seem to forget that one of the reasons the Rock got and remained in the main event of WM15 was because of Stone Cold? Austin protected the Rock, guiding and giving him advise - advise which the Rock still lives by to this day. On the issue of Pat Patterson, this isn't the first time. In 1999 when Triple H won the title, the rating of Raw dropped. Pat suggested to Vince that Triple H drop the belt to him and then they could try and build up from there. Vince won on Raw, thanks to Austin, and then we had the Six Pack Challenge, No Mercy, Survivor Series - where he dropped it again. The 2000 Royal Rumble, thanks to Mick, made Triple H into a main event player, but he was, and always will be, a supporting star.

I’m a fan of triple h but he was never the guy. Yeah he’s won a bunch of world titles but he was never on the rock or Austin’s level. And wwe always tried to make him an equal to them. He was never a mega superstar.

It basically off set the entire Raw product because there was no megastar baby face to balance it out. I’m so happy that Lesnar was able to be a star on Smackdown, because that would have been a mess if Hunter would have stifled Lesnar’s push. To be honest, Austin and Rock leaving left a hole in the company that never quite got filled again

Patterson was also a big locker room mentor to probably dozens of guys. Every time you hear an interview with a wrestler they always hype Pat to the moon saying he was there for them at every hurdle trying to help them. So of course he's going to back his guys against the golden shovel that is HHH.

People don't realize that how much power Triple H has over WWE. Vince is there but he is a busy man especially the xfl stuff going on right now... I feel Triple H books some or maybe most stuff in the main roster too. We can see it by the long match booking style and stuff. I remember a podcast with Bruce Pritchard where he says Gimmicks have a shelf life and eventually time is up for the Gimmick. Which usually means jobbing them out to the up and comers. In Eugenes case it became an issue because once the Gimmick ran its course and Eugene was no longer the triumphed underdog, now its was guys beating up on a mentally challenged person which doesn't look to good

I think that it is behind them now. But around 2004 Pat Patterson did have issues with Raw being too much about HHH. And so did I. But that was the old school way. Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan was similar. But it was one of the old school ways people were tired of. That was made evident around the time Hulk left WWF the first time. Because it would make one huge star but bury all the rest. So, I was never into extremely long title runs. I wanted to feel surprised. And when you have big title runs it hurts that. But on the same token I don't think it should change weekly either. But anything over abot 7 to 8 months was too long. HHH was given the title on September 2, 2002. He lost it one month in November 2002. After that it was September 2003 he lost it again when Goldberg won it. I was no fan of Goldberg keeping the Title but neither HHH when Armageddon 2003 came along I was hoping for Kane but didn't feel it would be him. I was right because it was back to HHH. And HHH wasn't a fan of Goldberg winning it either. It was a time that Vince went against HHH. But it didn't last long. Then He kept it until Wrestlemania. Not a bad run there. But then September again winning it back. What was with September? Although it only lasted a little while. But it was in October of 2004 that Pat said there was too much HHH. And he won it again in January 2005 but it was just for two months. Then it wasn't until 2008 when he won the title again. This time the WWE title. So they kind of did back off HHH when Pat said that. But Pat had legal issues also going on. That was probably the biggest reason he stepped away. Because he did the same the first time he had legal issues back in 92. But now he was older and I am sure didn't want to go through that again. So he retired because he didn't want to be in the spotlight while this was happening.

I was never a fan triple h not only because of 02-04 era but everytime there is a big storyline or somebody gets popular, he always has to put his big nose in there to feel important. A little bit like vince pushing charlotte in everything possible but hhh does it himself.

2:00-2:36 No, we absolutely would not have gotten that legendary Rock/Austin feud if that WM XV hadn't taken place. It's BECAUSE of that match that we got the "much better" rematch between them at Backlash the following month, the ACTUALLY better Rock/Austin II at WrestleMania X-Seven, and the WrestleMania XIX match where Rock finally, blissfully beat Austin. NONE of those matches would have EVER happened if it weren't for their WM XV match and you can't prove me wrong. This is precisely why the WM XV match ISN'T the "worst" Rock/Austin match ever like all the ignorant Attitude Era haters love to suggest (their match at the DeGeneration X PPV is their worst match) and why I passionately, vehemently disagree with anyone who thinks that WM XV match should be sacrificed in favor of Rock/Mankind and Austin/McMahon (i.e. people saying that St. Valentine's Day Massacre should have been WrestleMania XV).

HHH is the Harley Race of the early 00's, Rock was Dory Funk jr, Stone cold Terry Funk, and Harley had a problem when the vote was split 2to 2 and Vern & Dory Jr picked Terry because of his collegiate background and his relationship with Dory was never the same and that's from the mouth of Terry funk. Yes Hunter probably felt slighted but I think it was better they waited because the Evolution years was great. HHH stayed Rock left for Hollywood, so he earned his spot 💯

He should have layed both them out with the sledgehammer while yes we might have gotten another HHH vs austin feud it would have been in reversed roles and it would be more of hhh feuding with vince. 2002-2005 raw was ok. But the flaws are kinda obvious. They just didn’t have enough faces to challenge Triple H. Goldberg shoulda been around to feud longer. HBK shoulda beat HHH more also. Orton shoulda beat him to regain the belt before Batista did during the evolution angle. Also when Booker T lost to Triple H that kinda was a example of the whole era

Triple H is a great booker. He knows wrestling well and when he does put people over, he does it well. I will not take any of that from him. But during the Reign of Terror, when he was on top and he tried to paint himself in Stone Cold and Rock's position, he couldn't draw a dollar bill with a green crayon and if anyone argues to the contrary, compare viewing numbers from when Austin and Rock were on top to when he was.
