Pathfinder: WOTR is an isometric single-player role-playing story game currently in development by Russian studio Owlcat Games and published by Deep Silver, based on Paizo Publishing's Pathfinder franchise. Announced through a Kickstarter campaign in February 2020, the game will be released for PC, Microsoft Windows, and macOS on September 4, 2021. A console version for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series X Gameplay, PS5, PS5 Gameplay, Playstation 5, Playstation 5 Gameplay, will be released at a later date. The game is a sequel to Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

Pathfinder has dozens of classes and subclasses with thousands of abilities, feats, spells, talents, and buffs to choose from. The spell listing allows you to choose from Evocation (Damage Dealing), Enchantment (Crowd Control), Necromancy (Undead), Abjuration (Buffs), Illusion (Crowd Control), Divination (Buffs/Disruptor), and Conjuration (Summoning). This is combined with an insane amount of class/subclass options including Alchemist, Arcanist, Barbarian, Bard, Bloodrager, Cavalier, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Hunter, Inquisitor, Kineticist, Magus, Monk, Oracle, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Shaman, Skald, Slayer, Sorcerer, Warpriest, Witch, and Wizard! It is Owlcat's goal to give each of these classes at least 5 subclasses each!
Choose your Mythic Path and embody an Angel, Demon, merciless Lich, wily Trickster, superhero Azata, law incarnate Aeon, truly evil Swarm, merciful Gold Dragon, or forgo all of them to stand alone as a Legend. Each path will allow you to improve your hero in unique ways, adding a new layer to character development and making your hero and their allies a true match for their powerful enemies.
You will command the Fifth Crusade and govern the Crusade system. Lead your crusade during tactical combat battles in a turn based mode inspired by the Heroes of Might and Magic series. You will command armies, grant them powerful bonuses, and deploy rituals to succeed. As your generals levels up they will gain access to new buffs, spells, feats, talents, and abilities. Your chosen Mythic Path will also open up new options such as calling angels to your side and using zombies to attack your foes. Your units and how they gain power will also be guided by the decisions you make. From ruthless Hell Knights to benevolent priests you have a wide array of allies who will answer the call for battle.
There are more than a dozen potential party members in the game including Camellia (Half-Elf/Spirit Hunter), Seelah (Human/Paladin), Lann (Mongrel/Zen Archer), Ember (Elf/Stigmatized Witch), Arueshalae (Succubus/Espionage Expert), Woljif (Tiefling/Eldritch Scoundrel), Daeran (Aasimar/Oracle), Sosiel (Human/Cleric), Regil (Gnome/Hellknight), Wenduag (Mongrel/Fighter), Nenio (Kitsune/Scroll Savant), Greybor (Dwarf/Slayer). All of these companions have their own backgrounds, alignments, and motivations. All of them are fully voice acted with unique character models. There are even more followers that are locked behind specific story/mythic quest options!

When a kitsune transforms into a human iirc, they actually are counted as polymorphed which could make a build using the mythic feat that gives a massive bonus to physical stats when transformed extremely powerful. If that is intentional and not patched out, it could make something like a monk kitsune or any melee class kitsune quite strong.

Any class can benefit from Master Shapeshifter, even if it's only for carry weight, saves, and HP.

minor correction: It's only Dwarf specific weapons, like Ugroshes and Dwarven Waraxes that are Martial for Dwarves. All Dwarves can pick up and swing a pickaxe or regular axe

Just a side note: if you want to negate any negative attribute score from choosing a specific heritage option, there is a mythic feat called: Destiny beyond birth ... You no longer suffer your racial penalty to an ability score. Only races with a penalty to an ability score can take this ability. If this is worth spending a mythic feat has everyone to decide for themselves, just wanted to state that it exists. 😃

Is it possible to take a negative for your main ability score and increase it to 18 with points. Then take the feat to try an make it higher than normally possible?

If you're a fighter with -2 to intelligence then not crucial If you're a fighter with -2 to strength it's huge If you're minmaxing doesn't make a difference since you're not caring about roleplaying anyway

Orc Shamans are one of the best primal casters and have unique magics. They are the brains behind the orc horde and even as a caster are physically power. Some times referred to as "Perfects" they have the ability to buff and debuff lead a group and enter into combat using runes totems and animal companions... lore wise atleast for DnD and pathfinder. It's kinda common trope for orc to have a shaman who how ever primitive has all the tools to effect the modern world they live in using the powers of the ancestors and the truth in nature. Atleast from what I have seen.

39:50 Orcs double axes. It's stronger version of double swords. As you mention they require two wepons fighting. Pretty cool wepons. It wasn't mention in kingmaker either.

Nice video! Regarding the kitsune special class and your concerns about enchantments, hideous laughter and its associated mythic feat is where its at. You are absolutely correct that alot of enchantments are ST, and that its downside. If you metamagic hideous laughter however, combined with the feat, it might be the best CC spell in the game. With metamagic you bring the DC to the highest levels AND make it aoe at the same time.

You can have a tank on unfair, you just have to really focus on classes that give bonus to AC, like Monk, Oracle and Sword Saint. I played on unfair, and I turned Woljif into a Sword Saint, and let me tell you, that boy was hard to hit. Another, possibly complementing strategy is going all out on Concealment: Blur + Displacment + Mirror Image, etc, plus Dispel Magic. That being said, the BEST strategy in my opinion is having someone who can cast Creeping Doom. Creeping Doom summons swams, which have a LOT of resistence against physical attacks. It was supper funny seeing Deskari struggling against them, when I could make them way faster than he was killing them. ALL of these things you can do with Druid. Druid is a REALLY underated class.

Mounted Combat is amazing, but as you say, just manuvering later in the game becomes a chore, anyone that is large or larger starts pritty quickly to become a liability in those cramped corners.

On the dwarf you forgot to mention using backgrounds to use something else for persuasion, and at least in the pnp Pathfinder and D&D, heavy armor slows you to 20 and it's not a matter of encumbrance

For a caster Oread, a gemsoul sorcerer works fine, maybe crossblooded Elementalist (Earth)/Draconic (Brass/Copper/Black)

The imitator stances are actually pretty sweet. There is a post on the Owlcat forums listing the bonuses: Fighter +1 to attack and damage rolls. Bonus +1 every 5 levels. Armor Training on 6th and 14th levels Barbarian Temporary 1HP/lvl. Uncanny Dodge on 4th lvl. DR 1/- on 7th lvl, incerased by 1 per 3 lvls after 7th lvl. Rouge 1d6 SA. And more 1d6 SA per 3 lvls. Evasion on 4th. Uncanny Dodge on 8th. Monk Gains Unarmed Strike feat. At lvl 2, when unarmored AC bonus equal to half of INT modifier. Evasion on 4th. 8th lvl - Unarmored strike count as cold iron and magic for DR. 11th - Extra attack when unarmored and unarmed 20th - Another extra attack same as 11th.

It looks good on paper but in reality its taking away everything good about the slayer for average bonusses. I guess its alright if you take the class but aren't choosing to specialize in a specific weapon. Like you are going to use a different weapon in each slot so that each stance is more meaningful, like I can imagine using duel weild for fighter, 2h for barbarian and finesse weapon for rogue. But otherwise its a pretty bad class in comparison to what a normal slayer can offer.

Wanna skillmonkey around? Wanna DPS everything into a pulp? Wanna be the Main Character? Wanna buff everyone else? Human Insquisitor-Slayer with a reach weapon and either animal or protection domain One of the most powerful intimidation setups you can get :D Having that said: The movement speed penalty of Dorfs and Oreos is the perfect unintended bonus for dual wield MDPS or reach MDPS as your tanks will outrun them and bind the opponents, so the risk of getting hit for the squishy damage dealers is quite a bit lower ;)

Human strongest trait is additional skill point per level, it's like +4 int for any class that doesnt require int - and you can get fast learner feat for another additional SP, & with those 2 you get as many SPs on your dumbo 10int warrior as you would with 18int. Free feat is just on cherry on top.

Yeah that's a legit way to look at it. For me personally the feat means more because I tend to play feat heavy builds while spreading skills throughout the whole team so the skill point doesn't matter as much for me.

I actually really enjoyed the cruoromancer spitting skeletons out everywhere. I know some people say summons are just fodder, but those mfkers can really do some work taking out packs of easier mobs and whacking down things that have mirror image

@54:25 The Fortification Armour property is a chance to ignore Critical Hits and Precision based damage. It's the same as the Stonelord. The Light version is a 25% chance, Medium would be 50% and Heavy is 75%.

As for kindred raised half elf: they can still choose " charisma from their racial bonus and get the +2 for the heritage. noone else can get +4 charisma. thats insane for oracles and sorcerers.

As a pair to this video you might want to make one for the race specific feats which can be pretty potent (+3AC wings for Aasimar anyone) For the oread specific classe i think it’s meant to be paired with the Shaitan feats as it can do Acid damage. Not sure if worth it though.

"Don't know why you'd want to do a gnome in melee." Dawg, my first character to reach the end of Act 4 was a trident wielding Beast Rider Cavalier, that became an angel and rode her elk named Monarch directly into Frontline combat. I loved Lita. Became bored after act 4 though(mainly because my crusade got fucked over for some reason, lost all my troops and had none to fend off the two armies that hit Drezen), just wanted to do some other builds and paths.

My Beta Demon run was a Natural Attacks Tiefling and it was a ton of fun. *Act 5 Spoiler* Everybody automatically looses all the Crusade armies you built up before at the beginning of Act 5. Galfrey squandered your gains unfortunately.

As soon as I pulled up the region map, I got assaulted and had 100 angels only to defend against like 15 mariliths, 20 of the big armor plated demons, and 30 of the blue skinned spear demons. With no spells because no generals

@@crazedchangeling You don't loose generals, you keep the ones you leveled before act 3, you just need to assign them to an army. Training a new Army should take no problem if you use Merc's and developed your outposts. Also your outposts should slow enemies down, so unless you were completely idle in your crusade management beforehand you have no reason to loose at that point.

A Spell Dancer Trickster with greater mythic tricks of Mobility and Use Magic Device will be faster than a bloodrider, are almost unhittable, and a have wizard spell book. Since Magus are Int base arcane casters w/o a wizard spell book they have the attributes and feats to use their new spell book. With wand mastery and wand wielder to go with Use Magic Device Improved mythic trick.

Huh, I don't know if it's still there, but in Pathfinder proper, Kitsune's tail are actually a feat chain instead of a subclass. The chain kinda made it so only Fighters could use the stronger ones, a Fighter having 9 spell-like abilities was cool, but I guess making it a subclass makes sense

Ferocity is one of those abilities which can make enemies significantly more annoying at low levels (the mongrel brutes in the maze for example), but I would say pretty terrible for a player. Maybe that 1 round will be enough to get a heal off, assuming you dont take another hit in the mean time, but more than likely, if this triggers, you are still dying. Its also more likely your hit point total will drop low enough that you will die outright rather than fall unconscious.

Yes it is. I used to play a lot of Dragon Age: Inquisition and they pronounce it that way all the time. For some reason that has stuck with me.

You're confusing two different, somewhat similar words: Chevalier (what you're saying in the video) is essentially a knight. A title of sorts. Cavalier (the name of the class you're talking about in the video) is a horseman. Cavalier does have its origins in chevalier, it's an amalgam of essentially cavalry and chevalier. But they are indeed different words :) I enjoyed the video as well, but I did notice this and came to the comments to see if someone else had picked up on it :)

Magic. Level up your General to be strong in Magic. It makes the first five levels tough but after that anything that is susceptible to fire will melt in front of your fireball and scorching ray. My general can take out three enemies in the first round with well placed fireball.

Yeah mages can often cheese the early game with the amount of power at their disposal. Late game tho Balors tend to nuke your army so you should level a defensive fighter general on the side and be sure to improve saving throws as much as possible so that his nuke doesn't obliterate your army. I relied on a corrupted Dragon troop that was invincible to everything the demons threw at them but one Balor blast and they were extinct.

I don't know if this me, but why are you calling a Cavalier a Chevalier? Overall similar words and meaning, but there different from what I understand. Just to make sure I wasn't mistaken looked them up, Cav-a-lier Vs. Shi-va-li-ay Gripe aside, loved the video ^_^ didn't know about the Dwarf Pally option, I'm going to have to try that!

Cavalier derives from the same Latin root as the Italian word cavaliere and the French word chevalier. More specifically I played a lot of Dragon Age: Inquisition where many of the characters are based on the French and they pronounced it that way.

They get one in Tabletop? If so yes it appears to be removed here.

@@SlanderedGaming In the Tabletop I believe it replaces their Divine Ally where other paladins have sword shield or mount, the stonelord has a earth elemental that start out small and eventually get significantly larger. (maybe the tremorsense and burrowspeed would be difficult to tackle) I think when I played one I only reached the lvl of a medium one

Orc Ferocity is a terrible ability for a tank or anyone else. Instead of just lying down and waiting for a heal when injured, it makes them remain standing as a threatening target when their hp is below zero, usually causing enemies to attack them again and kill them outright.

It doesn't work as well in RTS but in turn based it is fantastic. You can focus healing on the Orc and keep him up.

@@SlanderedGaming *sometimes.* When you get later in the game vs enemies with multiple attacks, though, it's more like *hit* Orc is hurt *hit* orc is in ferocity mode *hit* orc is dead thanks for playing. I switch it out for the +1 to all saves racial every time, way more useful

I don't see why orcs shouldn't be shamans. Not sure about the pathfinder universe, but I know multiple fantasy worlds where it makes perfect sense. Shamans aren't nerdy wizards after all, THAT would be weird.

Orc not fitting to be a Shaman? Boi. There's a reason why Orcs are allowed to actually choose their Attribute-bonus. Yes, movies 'n games usually depict them as fiercesome warriors but in truth ("truth" as far as fictional characters & races go) orcs actually ARE talented in other professions. Shaman for example is a perfect fit (while an Arcanist would be not), they usually also dip into rogue'ish classes as well, albeit much rarer compared to Shamans or common warriors. Nah, Owlcat did a perfectly fine job with actual offering something else for Orcs instead of a another Orc barbarian or w/e.

Short version: Asimar is the best.Have only bonuces, no penalty. have wings. The most interesting and role playing is dhampir. But for hard difficulty better take asimar.

@@racot7145 Early to mid-game is a huge portion of the game though. Aasimar might be better at the end game but by then you are usually over-powered anyways espacially if you have a good build, and with the mythic paths.

Quick question if you have the time - if I commit to the aeon path at the mirror at the very start of owning Drezen.. am I locked into aeon? And fml, am I the only one who didn’t have a rogue for the entirety of the drezen battle? Could I have switched at any point? Couldn’t unlock like 20 chests and it drove me insane 😑

Cavalier means a military man or knight serving on a horse. Chevalier means a horseman or a knight. The terms are interchangeable. I pronounce it Kav-a-leer now so people don't get confused but the pronunciation is correct.

Old French version of the word. Heavily used in Dragon Age: inquisition and has stuck with me ever since.

@@th3thatguy631 Inquisition was fantastic in my opinion. Not as good as Origins and a little too much quest repetition. But the story and party members were AMAZING. Also out of all the games I think it has the best lead up to the next Dragon Age game. Really looking forward to DA4. One day I'll play through the DA series on this channel.

From the Cavalier wiki: "Cavalier derives from the same Latin root as the Italian word cavaliere and the French word CHEVALIER." More specifically I played a lot of Dragon Age: Inquisition which had a country of people based on the French and they all pronounced it that way. It's stuck ever since.

In regards of blightborn elves - sure lets just completely disregard the subrace since we're, what, too lazy to read the last line in discriptor, which represents essentialy getting a weapon focus + 0.5 weapon spec and without actually commiting to any weapon types too? Right, elven magic lost - auto bad, sigh. I really want to like your content, sir, but it's just consistently sloppy like that. Unpopular opinion minute over.

Elves automatically take a -2 penalty to Constitution. A .5 weapon spec is not making up for that in Act 1 on Core difficulty when the game is at it's hardest. Obviously you can take Blightborn if you want but it's not something I would ever recommend. Our difference of opinion doesn't make my content lazy or sloppy.

It's funny you should mention those dreadful racial -2s as a hardblock for doing things EVER, no less. I mean, however some of us surviving (enjoying) hard with the con being dumped to the lowest even level... On a melee character too... Well, technically, at least - reach weapons are a bit of a cheat, speaking of reach - if anything was to be a factor to reconsider halflings/gnomes as a strength based melee archetype - reach disadvantage due to the size would be it. Ever? Hardly, imho.
