16 years married. I was 23, she was 21. It’s been tough. We’ve had to give up a lot. We have three kids. Our oldest son has autism, and the first six years of his life were very difficult. Our second kid nearly died three times (long story). Our third kid was an accident - we had her despite having zero time to raise a baby. Okay We’re polar opposites. She’s loud and emotional. I’m quiet and stoic. We work constantly. We’ve had financial challenges and at one point didn’t have a vacation for five years. But she’s my favorite person in the world. Being opposites has helped us develop our weaknesses - we’ve made each other better. No one makes me laugh the way she does. She’s an incredible mom and wife. She’s truly a partner in life. And I pray to God we are able to grow old together. It’s worth it. Be sure to pick someone (-!; BE someone) who has as much integrity as they do outer beauty.

Doing marriage well is like leveling up your life. It’s the ultimate motivator. It’s the launch pad to meaning and depth in a man’s life. And children. Don’t get me started on children. Children are the sauce of life. They are your biggest investment. They are your greatest project. Maybe it’s because I’m just a middle class joe, but to me the measure of a man is his family. It tells me all I need to know about him. It’s the hardest thing and greatest thing you’ll ever do.

You will not find a model with a PhD, so if you find a quality woman who has a few imperfections, lock that down. There is a tipping point where you've waited TOO long and any woman you meet even 5 or 10 years younger has been so used and put away wet that anywhere you go there's a guy she did off of tinder.

@@Mike-tf7wb Not true in my case. I'm your age, moved abroad 10+ years ago and there are so many beautiful, young, quality, conservative, family-type women. You can be 60+ and still find a great partner without emotional baggage or having been railed by a ton of guys in her heyday. Every girl I dated so far has been better than the American girls I dated prior to moving abroad in my 30s. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but that's my experience living in South East Asia (and even when I was living in Latin America). They're more in line with what guys want in a "traditional" wife (God and family first). Anyone that is tired of dating in the US should travel abroad and see for themselves. I know women who have paid alimony to their husbands in their divorce and think it’s messed up that everyone on here is acting like divorce only hurts the man. If you get married and your spouse had to put their entire career on pause to raise your kids, you shouldn’t complain that you were the only one screwed by that failed marriage. Another thing people fail to recognize is that marriages can only be successful if both partners share similar morals and values. Otherwise your marriage is doomed. And lastly, I will say this. I always thought that I never wanted kids. Until older single people that I knew (usually in their 60’s) started telling me that they all regretted not having children. They just wanted that fun, carefree, party lifestyle and they lived it their whole lives. Until they reached the point where everyone they knew started dying. Parents died, siblings died, friends died. Then you start having health problems and there is no one there to help you. No family to be with on holidays. What are you going to do when you can’t drive or are cognitively impaired? Being old and completely alone is a scary feeling. I don’t know a single man or woman who was completely alone in their old age that wasn’t depressed.

It's an excellent point. However, given the massive selfishness of people today, and I am doing to say especially women, my understanding it like 50% of adult women will be single and childish in America in like 20 years. The future looks bleak for the traditional nuclear family and it seems many things are encouraging that

Some people know how to make it work. I was not one of those people. I, like most millennials, married because I had the wrong mindset going into it. I looked at the selfish reasons; I didn't truly love my now ex-wife. If you are about to get married and you're reading this, ask yourself this: do I truly love this person, or am I doing it for bullshit reasons? If you even have to think about it, chances are you don't.

You can tell which of these men have their wife on a pedestal. SMH. This is how society conditions men, to have a pedestal in their subconscious and to place a woman on it "get the girl", etc...Men think of women as the prize, but should flip the script and view themselves as the prize. I think men should skip marriage altogether, just look at the stats and what happens after marriage. No sex, fighting regularly, kids, busy schedules....I question the true "depth" of some of these marriages and think most people are still married out of social conditioning and stigma of divorce that only they believe in. Some of them stay married out of ego. This whole 'dying alone' is nonsense...its a social trope used to get men to commit to marriage. One of the experts in this field of intersexual dynamics is Rollo Tomassi and he has written about this, it's called 'Myth Of The Lonely Old Man'. Men should spend time reading The Rational Male book series, breaking their social conditioning concerning women and look at reality. Learn about the intentions that drive female behavior. Also there is the issue of the gov. being involved in marriage (its a lucrative industry for them). The state incentivizes divorce which is why women file 80% of the divorces, because it's profitable for them. Men, educate yourself and learn female nature then learn how to maneuver in the sexual marketplace.

@@dondp7500 I sincerely apologize for not responding sooner. Please forgive me. I have been ill. Thank you for your response, time, and consideration. I did marry my wife in 1994. Yes, the younger generation is different, than my generation (Baby-boomers). I want to emphasize my generation is not better or worse, than your generation. Lack of character, values, and ethics exist in my generation, as well as in your generation. Today, there are young gentlemen and young ladies who conduct themselves with virtues, character, values, and ethics. There are young gentlemen and young ladies who are making significant positive contributions to humanity, while conducting themselves with virtues, character, values, and ethics. There are young gentlemen and young ladies who desire to be great wives, husbands, parents, citizens, entrepreneurs, and employees. The aforementioned young gentlemen and young ladies do not make the time to do stupid things on social media; socialize at clubs/bars, and/or have negative/inappropriate personal and professional relationships. Every generation has good and bad humans. Virtues, character, values, and ethics transcendes gender, religion, culture, race, ethnicity, and/or social status. We can focus on what cannot control, such as other people. Focusing on what we can not control is a waste of time and energy. We can focus on living a life of virtues, character, values, and ethics. We can focus on becoming the best we can be at our calling (What are you called to do? What is your specific mission?). We can control choosing a mate, who has the same virtues, character, values, and ethics, while sharing the same goals. For example, Adam Sosnick is not looking to marry and/or have a serious relationship; therefore, Adam Sosnick will be a man who attracts women who are not looking for marriage and/or a serious relationship. Many people think they want to be married; yet, do not prepare for marriage. Once again, thank for your response, time, and consideration. I responded with the intent of humility.

Go through the exercises and listen for the answers and THEN, compare their actions to their answers. Good points about Responsibility, Accountability and Commitment. It's super hard. Then you add into that equation that THE OTHER PERSON has be just as committed to that. And then there's that whole, did you even pick the right person? Sometimes people change, or you don't even know their true character for some time. But kids seem to be the binding force, like they mentioned.

Marriage is a covenant before God. It’s not to be used for sinful acts. Unfortunately traditions play a role in the downfall of this union as “they be of one flesh”. Genesis 2:24 KJV… It wasn’t made to be easy but to have a help meet (Help mate) ie. a wife that a man would love and procreate with. Unfortunately, the biblical constitution of marriage isn’t taken seriously. I believe God wants the best for your marriage if you both believe in the biblical constitution of marriage. Don’t let outside forces penetrate your marriage because the stakes are too high and ain’t nobody got time for that! Praise be Jesus, amen!

Being married is to have someone that can testify to your life. When you are old and you don’t have someone you can reminisce with you will be miserable

It's the only contract that can be broken because one party says they ain't feeling it any more. All the more difficult to stomach when your financial contribution has been much much more during the marriage, but on exit 50/50.

Sadly there’s some immaturity on the panel that stopped the conversational flow & brought the level down somewhat but good clip nonetheless

Marry a woman you like and is beautiful to you. Make sure she has a matching income and you don't have to worry about giving her half your wealth. Look at your beautiful wife and beautiful kid(s) and be grateful you poured all your energy into the relationship.
