last year Mahomes throw ball 72 times in one game. this year playoff against Dolphins, Buffalo and Ravens Mahomes Strick first scored couple TD in first quarter. Mahomes did not play from behind and scored TD with his arm. Being game manager at time for Mahomes is bc he is leading. Watch Mahomes if his trialing the game. he will sling that ball all over the field. LOL 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The whole "game manager" title is a complete misnomer. I would rather have a QB throwing for less yards as and being able to make plays when needed rather than a QB that puts up alot of stats but doesnt know when to turn it on and off.

Brady was basically the ultimate game manager. Never flashy, just knew what to do when to do it and did it perfectly. Now Mahomes is learning to play smart like that...plus he still has his insane arm and houdini escapability when he needs it. The past 2 years might have been the Chiefs' weakest years compared to what could come. Just need a couple better receivers and to keep the defense together. Craziness

The issue I have with the dame manager title is as follows. For me game manager tag has not been associated with just managing the game. It has been more so associated with managing not to lose the game because your ability is not going to win the game. The difference being that if a quarterback has the ability to lead you down the field he is both a game manager and a play maker. Whereas just the game manager you hope doesn't F things up while he tries to manage the game as he will not be able to get you back in it.

That’s all it is. He’s an average to above average QB on an elite roster with elite talent, and what makes him good like Jimmy G, Alex Smith, etc, is that he is very coachable and will be limited on turnovers. Is he going to go off script and win a game with his arm? No. Is he going to be looked at as an elite prospect and lead the league in yards? No. lol. Unless Deebo and Auyik are getting insane yards after the catch and padding Purdy’s stats with fink and dunks on crossing routes.

The job of a QB is to pilot the team to wins more often than does the opposing QBs...up through and including in the Super Bowl. SO WHAT if the QB wins wins wins despite not registering big individual stats? The game is littered with Big Stat QBs who never piloted a team to a championship...and winning championships, not piling up big stats, is what athletes and teams are paid to do. Wanna make a sport all about individual stats? Watch boxing/golf/tennis... A qb job consist of managing a offensive , via, coach calling plays, qb observing the defense, with the possibility of calling a audible, at the same time watching the play clock , knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the offense and defense , and then distributing the ball to the best possible venue in which is determined by who’s is open .

This is a result of making the quarterback position more than what it is. Which is a game manager at its core. What is the quarterback doing on the field? Distributing the ball to the skill positions, calling plays, managing the time of possession etc. sounds a lot like a manager. That’s all it is. Tom Brady has shown that above average athleticism is not needed at the quarterback position. Having a big arm, being able to scramble for 50+ yards is a nice addition but can you deliver the ball accurately and on time to your players? That’s the main thing.

This season, yes. Purdy pushes downfield more than any Qb. Mahomes has managed the game’s riding that defense. These teams have flipped from the last matchup

Exactly. The Cheifs are more like the 2019 49ers with a great defense where Mahomes makes the smart necessary throws and has a less explosive offense. The 49ers defense is not what it is in 2019 but their offense is highly explosive and can put up points a lot like the 2019 Cheifs where Purdy likes to layer throws 20+ yards. These are actually reflective in the statistics on how they have switched places.

@@Thebob6 True but I think the Cheifs defense has been underrated due to the focus being on Mahomes when it has allowed the 2nd fewest points all season without giving up a single game of over 30 points all season. The 49ers defense while good has been getting hyped up more due to their reputation when they do have more notable weaknesses this time around. I agree and expect a very close game.

Skip Bayless is still blaming Jimmy G for that Super Bowl lost, he no longer plays with 49ers. The media will never blame Kyle Shannhan for that Super Bowl lost, he took the football out Jimmy G hands in the NFC Championship Game ran the football for 285yrds with Raheem Mostert had 220yrds that day but got away from that philosophy late in the Super Bowl in 4th quarter. Now that he got Brock Purdy, and Christian McCaffrey is he going to run the football with conviction against the Kansas City Chiefs defense to keep Patrick Mahomes on the sideline that's the whole purpose of running the football. If Kyle Shannhan would've done that in first Super Bowl, and score one more time they win the game after having a 10 point lead late in tge 4th quarter.

A message stands out the most depending how you deliver it. Cam delivered a message with anger and resentment. Even though a game manger is basically a Qb with a high IQ. That use to be the biggest complaint to give for a QB , by talking about their QB IQ level. When the Brady rule came into effect , and year by year the Qb became the most protected player on the field , it gave life to running QBs , now you don’t even have to think just run and if someone is open throw it 3:02 and a game manager does not always stay on script key, because when things don’t go right way , your smart enough to make a play. I disgree with key about what a game manager is.

A great game manager was Troy Aikman! To me still the best cowboys QB, even better than Roger. I loved Roger but watch the superbowls for both of them and Troy made nearly no mistakes. Troy is undervalued because he had Emmit but Troy did what was needed to do to win … 3 out of 3 superbowls. Michael knows very well what a great game manager can do.

The issue is that the conversation made it a binary argument: game changer vs game manager. There weren't other options. So unless you are a game changer you are a game manager. This means you have these QBs listed as game managers: Howell, Pickett, Levis, Purdy...
