@@aome1111 I have a safari ALS but it looks nothing like yours. Mine is angled and it digs into my hip bone. Your holster looks much more comfortable away from your hip.
Good eye ... it fits in the holster for the M&P 2.0 5", but the ALS does not retain it 100% reliably. The ALS/SLS combination is the only way to be sure it'll stay in the holster. Hopefully one day we'll get one made for the VP9.
@@aome1111 Also what I noticed and am here to ask about. Would you mind expanding on the fit and what light and optic combination you're running? I'm tracking its a light/optic compatible Safariland 636X ALS/SLS for the M&P 2.0 5" off the shelf no mods, but it sounds from your comment the ALS doesn't catch/engage maybe at all and its basically SLS only for retention? I'm assuming by the subject title you trust it enough to run this setup on duty and not just for rangework so any issues you've encountered? I used to carry a P2000 SLS only so if you can confirm the above I think I know what I'd be getting myself into. If you have the time some close up photos or a short vid would really help determine if there are high or snag spots and how likely it is to come flying out if the hood flies open and you're rolling around on the deck. The hood looks like there is plenty of clearance from the tang to rotate forward but I can't really tell how much play and standoff there is inside. I currently run a plain 4" slide on my ALS duty rig but would love to find a retention option that works with my RMR equipped VP9L slide. Thanks, I know that's a multifaceted question so any datapoints you can shed some light on are appreciated before I roll the dice.
@@aome1111 Just wanted to follow up and mention that after seeing this video, I ordered a Safariland SA-6390RDS-2192-701. I agree, the retention is not perfect, and there's definitely a little bit of wobble in the ALS-engagement. Good enough for range use, but not something I would trust on duty, if that were my application. I also noted that pushing down on the grip of the gun would take it significantly out of battery while in the holster. Not a huge deal, but not desirable, especially when slamming my hand into the grip while drawing rapidly. I fixed that by gluing a small piece of foam to the round cup in the bottom of the holster which protects the lens of the light. This filled the gap between the light and the bottom of the holster and eliminated the vertical play. Subsequently, someone turned me on to Ghostmen Designs, and I sent the holster off to Chris Geist for modification, as at that time I had started running PMM compensators on my VP9s and they would no longer fit the M&P holster for a 4.25" barrel. Ghostmen is definitely worth a look if you need a Safariland modified to fit an RMR + RDS.
Great question! IceVents facilitate omnidirectional ventilation even under load, this is a proprietary capability unique to IceVents. This ventilation allows your body to use it's natural evaporative cooling process. Evaporative cooling is where sweat/perspiration leaves the surfaces of your skin (by way of your clothes/uniform) and converts to a gas in the process, removing heat from your body. Hope this helps and let us know if you have any more questions. We have lots more background/science info on our website and IceAge Insights blog (link above in show notes)!
I dunno, sounds great in theory, but pushing your belt out on top of losing loads of Velcro engagement makes me give this a hard "pass". Thanks for showing us though!
IceVents are roughly the same thickness as a high-quality nylon/scuba webbing inner belt, so the stand-off is the same. While we haven't had any customers complain of the Velcro contact patch, that concern is totally understandable and it is why we have a full-size, full-field IceVents Inner Belt coming out later this year. Hope that helps! #StayFrosty
I love how your showing your house and the cars you drive . Someone who knows you will now know where you live . I hope you wont have your house broken into like ours was ... Twice . We had thuggs living next to us . Our locals were worthless in helping us out with them 😥
