Word, the only other singer that's a natural like Patti is Rachelle Ferrell. We slept on her, she wouldn't play industries game, but she is bad. Was reminded at Bernie Mac's funeral.
Phil Royce I feel u.. but Whitney was known as the voice . It didn’t take her 30+ years to accomplish what patti or even aretha did..I’m sure we’ll see another patti in our lifetime but never will we see somebody like Whitney. She was just more talented than any other female singer back then.. (THE VOICE)
What Voice Damn didnt mis a Note for a minute nor sec the true Queen N Godmother of Soul N R &B Love me some Arthea Franklin always N forever but Vocal ability could never i mean never match this woman. Love U Patti better Sangggg...
Who's mad? It seems to be only you that has anger issues. I guess if I looked like you I'd be pressed as well. No get back in the kennel where you came from.
Leah Deane Wait a minute now.... It’s not accurate to say that Aretha Franklin’s vocal ability could never match Pattie’s. In my opinion, their vocal styles are very different and unsurpassable in their own style. To me, they both are the two vocal Goddesses of planet earth that no one else can surpass.
I love me some Patti, that's why I am here, and even though I like Patti's personality better than Aretha's, I still gotta say that Billboard Records got it right by naming Aretha Franklin the greatest singer of all time, followed by Ray Charles. Aretha has a higher range than Aretha, but Aretha has a "wider." Put it this way, if you were to put them both in their primes, Aretha would be able to sing all of Patti's song and then rearrange them with her own twist, like she did with Natural Woman, Say A Little Prayer for You, and so many other hits that she rerecorded. However, Patti would struggle singing Aretha's music and finding a way to make them her own. Go check out Patti's tribute to Aretha when she sang Ain't No Way. Those notes were maxing Patti out. People forget that Aretha can dig deep into tenor and rise all the way up to soprano. Patti starts high and goes higher. And Aretha just has that soul church sound in her voice like Fantasia does; they can take you to church singing about how a man broke their heart. And Aretha can sit down and play the piano while singing at the same time...that in itself is impressive. Now today Patti and Aretha can no longer hit the notes they use to, but Aretha never really relied on just high notes; she was mostly about soul. And that's how she was able to make Obama crying singing last year. Check it out.
Patti said Ms. Graves was shady af... she (Deniece) declined a duet initially, then later asked to do if afterall (no rehearsal). DG then intentionally put the song in the key of "Q". That's a direct quote from PL... meaning high = out of Patti's range thinking it would trip PL up. I wasn't there, but she stated she went right on up there w/ Ms. Graves and slayed. That's 1 of many funny stories I've gotten from this comedian/ singer. Her personality can be just as big offstage... other times demure.
