I love that you recognize how she is one of kind in her power and how it’s amazing how her voice has held up into her 80’s. There is no one like her. I’ve seen her live many times including during this period and she never ceased to amaze me. One time she hit a note and it was like a ball flying by us it was so powerful.
I have to agree with you 100 percent. Patti's voice is a force of nature. I mean hurricane force. In the past other singers didn't want to sing with her because they felt she was trying to show them up. There have even been times when they would turn her microphone down so she wouldn't drown out other performers. And you are absolutely right, Patti is the quintessential power house singer. There are a lot of powerful singers, but Patti is in a class by herself. And no one could touch her. There are powerful singers and then there is Patti Labelle.
Patti has never smoked or taken drugs and has looked after her voice her whole life that’s why she can still do almost everything she has always been able to!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! When I saw the title saying this performance was on Arsenio, I just knew it was going to be off the chain. She always blew the roof off extra hard on his show. This right here is a blessed saaangin woman in her prime…when her talent knew very few, if any, peers. Unparalleled full chest belt range, projection, power, breath support and control.…all with ease. Often imitated but never duplicated-the one, the only, Miss Patti Labelle. There will never be another.
The irony of this for me is that my sister took me to Philadelphia Symphony Hall to see her. Aresenio Hall opened the show. He was an unknown at the time. His first joke was "My name is Arsenio which in Greek means Leroy!".
Her voice can soar beyond the clouds lol and I have never ever heard her breathing in the mic or gasping for air ever, the tamars (love her)etc have to gasp for air every few lines
Check her performance in 2010’s ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iPooE7lW_iU.html Or her performance in 2022 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iX_ubL2-sfs.html
Please, react to Mariah Carey's Circles, from The Emancipation of Mimi album. You'll be slayed, I swear. The acapella version will get you down on the floor
i'ma bit disappointed in this reaction. told you a while back that if you really wanted to see Patti just completely OBLITERATE and burn the stage to the ground, you had to react to her performance of Somewhere Over the Rainbow/When You Been Blessed medley on the same Arsenio Hall show. he dedicated a whole night to her, but that opening performance she gave is one for the record books. why you won't react to it is beyond me. you don't know what you're missing.
The version she did of this with OTR in 91 on Arsenio, where she accident slapped the choir director in the head - vocals were even better than this version.
THANK YOU for reacting to this performance from Ms. Patti! Her signature climbing, sliding scale at 2:54 always gives me goosebumps! This woman's voice is so massive!
There you go! I looove this song, this performance too. Just beautiful lyrics and soul to tell it. 2:15 is an A5, the glissando peaked at a Bb5. Patti, in her prime could definitely take the weight in her belts up to a B5 (see Get With The Program). If you are to react to another legendary performance of hers, you can do You Are My Friend at Essence Awards 2000 (in white outfit) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vDErZ2lH6bc.html or Forever Young at Soul Train Anniversary 1995 (she walked away from the mic belting her behind off!) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zBYmAV3aDXw.html, my all-time favorite performance of hers. On the other hand, if you wanna hear more of her agility, you can react to Since I Don’t Have You live in the 70’s ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g4z6tPgyjpU.html.
I would love to hear your reaction to Patti's Look To Rainbow in the black dress. I think Dick Clark introduces her. And I would like to hear you respond to Imagine in the red dress. It's just amazing.
I can tell by her hair and white nails that Ms. Patti was going be ignorant, lol. And Her being on Arsenio show made it no better bc he was going to instigate Ms. Patti further and make her show out even more🤣🤣🤣. Ms. Patti saaaang the h*ll out of that conversation song 🙂🙂❤❤
I simply love this channel. Thanks for all the work you do in sharing your reactions. I would love to see a reaction to Patti's performance of Since I don't Have You from a 1977 concert. It was remarkable!
You need to check out her performance of this song mixed with over the rainbow when she sang to Richard Pryor!!! You will do a backflip, a split and then another backflip followed by giving God the glory!!!
