lanelafisking I think it’s in relation to the context. The first utterance was just ‘shit’, and the second was ‘the shit’, referring to the stuff he put up with when he ran ECW
And just a few months later The Rock was doing the exact character that Heyman talks about here. And because he was so good at it, the fans went right back to loving him again, even though he was a villain.
Heyman is a pure wrestling genius,he predicted how the Monday Night Wars would end up,he predicted Austin's success, and he has unbelievable skill to pick talents
@LG 215 And you have a fake moniker. You’re probably embarrassed by your name besides your physical aspect. Go ahead, give me a passionate EC-DUB EC-DUB chant 😂. Keep the company alive!!!!😂
Yeah but Paul Heyman when he had the long hair with the ponytail, wore the baseball cap (because he was balding on top) and that long black shiny jacket which looked like it was made of latex rather than leather made him look some sort of pervert who hung around Central Park waiting for someone to flash or someone who masturbates while watching kids in a play park. But since he cut his hair and wears a suit he looks much better and respectable like a businessman which people what to see like and how Paul Heyman would like to be remembered by the fans and not the pervert look of the ECW days and early WWE days. When I was 27 my hair started to thin on top so I’ve shaved my head bald ever since and I can’t understand why some men when they start to go bald grow what hair they do have long like Heyman or do the comb over thing.
He didn't refuse to put Lesnar over, he just thought it should have been a PPV match and that losing to Lesnar made him look weak while not making Lesnar all that strong. In any case he was right and Lesnar did end up spitting in the faces of all the guys who put him over by leaving the company.
Taker lost to Lesnar and people say it was the wrong thing to do. I think he should of did it, put Lesnar over as a huge breakout match. Then have Austin return to a huge pop down the road.
@@Shanecho414 well what matters is how Steve felt. Because honestly WWE started devaluing him as soon as WCW was dead. If not for Steve WWE would’ve lost and slowly but surely they didn’t care about that anymore and that’s messed up. The guy the saved the company deserves to be respected, a lot more than he was at that time
I wonder if Steve not putting brock over was partly why hogan let lesnar kill him. It's like, "boy, now Austin's really going to look bad." Conspiracy theory probably but shit I still can't believe brock basically murdered hogan on smackdown.
@xKyleChaosx would've been a full circle moment, too, since Austin had his first big moment winning KOTR. But, it's been documented heavily. Austin was burnt out. When you're burnt out you're not thinking clearly. I think a clear minded Austin would've had an awesome PPV match with lesnar. Really, though, can we complain? That rock brock match at SS was so good.
6:39: Paul Heyman's genius in a nutshell. And the reason why he and Vince, while they can obviously work together in some aspects, will always clash on some things. They're very much alike.
Paul is a genius. A mastermind in the world of Wrestling. He's one of the few men in the business that I personally look up to just for life in general.
And he is a compulsive liar who ruined people's lives through his backstabbing and bullshit.. people love to create their own narratives. If that's your role model then you are a fucking moron.
Heyman’s wrestling IQ has always been awe inspiring. He was talking about Rock going for a heel Hollywood character before it even happened. And it ended up being the Rocks best character to this day.
Watching this after seeing him go into the HOF is telling Heyman was a visionary and has been forever. Seeing ECW back the day as a kid, you felt part of it. I've only had that happen a handfull of times with WWE.
Landsberg must hold the record for most interesting pro wrestling interviews. He had Vince on there OOC at times when you never thought that would happen.
@@NiFeGetsTubey Agreed. Actually was a fairly big fan of Landsberg being Canadian but when he interrupts people it drives me nuts lol. Definitely good at his job though.
If Heyman stayed with WWE all those years ago, let me repeat, IF he did it would be a completely different company, no denying that. He was and still is to this day, in my opinion the smartest guy in the industry. Not to take anything away from other wrestlers or people like Vince etc. but Heyman knows what he's talking about 100% all day everyday.
Paul Heyman is no Vince Russo! Russo created the Attitude Era, Sable, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Rock, Mick Foley, D-Generation X (not forgetting Generation Me aka The Young bucks), nWo 2000, The New Age Outlaws, Triple H, Val Venus and many more successful people in the business! I never saw TNA so I can’t comment on his time there but we all know he’s the greatest “writer” ever bro
back in 06 Cena was the number 1 fan favorite, maybe not so much anymore but he still has lots of fans. They need to change his character back to the Cena we all loved. I'm still a huge Cena fan.
"Vince McMahon will put his ego aside if it's good for business." Yeah, that's why the WWF royally botched the InVasion angle - the most idiot-proof angle in the history of wrestling.
Paul the Visionary and Genius predicting The Rock's heel turn (or perhaps coming up with the idea at that very moment) which would be used only months later :)
The Steve took his ball and went home perspective is kind of bs. This isn’t just any Star, this is the guy that saved the WWF from losing the Monday night war. His character sparked a change in the company that others got on board with. He deserved more respect than being jobbed on Monday night raw in the same way you’d use a mid card performer. Guarantee Vince wouldn’t have treated Steve like that in 1998
I wish Landsberg could just drop this insincere hype mode he's permanently stuck in. It's like, these topics are interesting enough in their own right, you don't have to get so over-the-top with your tone and delivery. And as soon as he gets Heyman saying something interesting, he just plows on through to his next scripted question without following up.
Paul is such mastermind and genius when come to wrestling ideas and storylines and all. I feel paul would be better take over wwe nowadays then the McMahon families
Seriously, it's hard to interview someone when you interrupt them with every single fucking question. People watch for the interviewee's answers and opinions; let the guy fucking speak.
I think it's because the shows are only allowed around 20mins air time, stuff like this often happens on short interviews so the interviewer can get through most of his questions in time, as usually legends like Paul Heyman could chat for hours about their experiences in the wrestling bussines.
Paul Heyman is a superintelligent guy, and he has a vast amount of knowledge on the industry, but the obnoxious host continuously interrupts him. Every 5 words, the host completely switches directions. I'd much rather just listen to Heyman shoot for 22 minutes
Looking back at that interview with Lansberg.Heyman is a genius. He has always been miles ahead of everyone else.....Except for Vince, for better or worse!!
Man ive noticed it before but he seemed to do it alot this time..... this guy ask a question and before Paul can finish his the last few words of his sentence this guy interrupts him w the next question..... dam near does it every single time especially toward the end..... I will say out of all the people who once or are currently in charge or own a wrestling company Paul seems like the most down to earth out of all
You guy's he only has a limited amount of time any interviewer will know that and I"m sure Paul knew that before even doing the show. He ask's as many questions as he can and keeps the interview going for the audience watching at home.
Actually, the censorship is a little lighter in Canada. There are a certain number of uses of certain words allowed, so the first beep was just appeasing the censorship rules.
"He loves to wrestle. What is he 53?...." Who would have known 30 years later that Ric would still be wrestling. He's retired 3 times. Just had his retirement match on PPV. Everyone came to watch for the last time......SIKEEE! It was announced today he is starting to train for more matches. It's tragic and just extremely sad :/
Yeah 2003, w/e. I knew it was in that era. Point was, it was after this interview that Rocky returned and was heel just like Heyman predicted he should be.
Mad looking back at this. Paul telling us that the Rock should not come back from Hollywood unless he's a heel. I wonder whose idea it was for the Wrestlemania pivot??
ah, man...Paul Heyman talking about the "Hollywood" Rock character long before it happened. Have to believe that he is the one who made that character happen when Rock returned
it was LEAGUES aboveRAW, All RAW was, was Triple H burying ex- ECW and WCW guys while hold in the WHC. THe only thing watchable was HHH/HBK feud but then they stole all the spotlight from that show while everything else was just midcard Smackdown had great booking and like 3 awesome storylines each progressing with goodpace until the PPVs
It had to do with Austin not agreeing with the way in which it was handled and how it wasn't hyped up as a PPV (he also felt Lesnar was handed a golden ticket he didn't really earn in the business) By the way....Lesnar has always walked in the door; been given what he wanted and then left shortly after (NFL, WWE, UFC)
Smartest guys in prowrestling. I'd say that Cornette is number one, Rogowski is number two and Heyman is number three. That's identical to my list of the top three least appreciated names in prowrestling as well.
I don't think he was talking about the rock's most recent return. He was talking about his heel run in like 2004/05. Something Heyman did call beforehand.
this proves what lots of people forget austins run was short they talk about here that wwe didnt know what to do with his character it had gotten stale by 01-02
