I was so inspired by GBBO that I wanted to try all the technical challenge recipes.
GBBO S06E03 - Biscuits - Paul Hollywood's Baguettes
I made half the original recipe.
Ingredients
------------------
Olive oil, for greasing
Bread flour - 250 grams
Salt - 5 grams
Fast-action yeast - 5 grams
Cool water - 185 ml

your dough looked much firmer than mine, and yours didn't appear to double in size the 2nd time after being divided. Nice tin foil parchment paper divider, I'm going to try that instead of using a well floured dish towel like I'm trying now.

I have done this recipe (from the BBC website) dozens of times using a hand mixer and the spiral dough blades and it works perfectly every time. I've tried it twice with the Kitchen Aid and the dough just won't get smooth and elastic. Any tips?

why is olive oil listed but not used in the recipe??? I put it in because I thought i was missing something and my bread didn't double in size during proofing :( UGH

How did they taste? They look great. I've never have had much luck just dividing a recipe by two. I like the original recipe. Just don't need 4 loaves at a time.

Fortunately it worked for me. They tasted great. 4 loaves is too much for us too.

Directions say 25 min baking. No way. I had to leave them 35 min

Sorry, I don't remember. Sometimes I do deviate from original recipe, to get the right color. As per the original recipe: "Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the baguettes are golden-brown and have a slight sheen"
