Forget the £250,000 price tag for the Paul Kossoff 59 Les Paul Burst Guitar, you can have it for just $300 on DH-Gate.
Today we return to look at the ridiculous price offer on sale in China. The Chibson version is clearly not what the website shows. However I know that people have been parted with their hard earned money by Chinese sellers on DH-Gate, Aliexpress and Alibaba, especially when the photos shown are of the real deal.
Once more buyer beware video today which I hope will help many to spot the obvious con's coming out of the far east still.

I have a Greeny and an its excellent replica with all the ware in the right places and fret end nips. I'm in the UK and it came through a guy in my city who has an arrangement with the manufacturer to make sure you get a good guitar. It's checked by him (he used to run a music shop) and a anything that needs putting right is done before you get the guitar.

I probably will never be able to afford a Gibson LP, so I went with a chibson cherry burst standard LP, and it's one of my favorite guitars,they are so close to the real deal,especially when you upgrade the bridge to an abr small post bridge,heck I might even fake the brass nut in the truss rod,using a short bolt for the brass nut,cut off and shaped into a hex on the back of the small bolt,kind of like an extension adapter,I will have to glue the brass nut to this half inch shaft, and make sure the hex fits tight,it's going to be fun removing the truss cover,I don't plan on ever selling my chibson,they are really doing a good job making these fakes.

Chibsons have never interested me. What does interest me is that the factories that make them will make you a completely custom one of a kind guitar. I don't see too many people going that route and I don't know why.

Yes I totally agree, I had a custom prs style made and once I knew you could remove the trademark infringements I had my own logo put on all remaining orders.

I've heard of them, DH-Gate. BTW, I finally got my Harley Benton 335 style guitar. Thomann did as much as they could to help me but it was red tape at this end that made it take 3 weeks instead of 1 week. Just think U should know, if U don't already.

@@Chinaguitarsceptic It seems to be ok. Not really tried it out yet. Its certainly not Thomann's fault. They did their best for me. The duty and VAT was crippling. I paid nearly £60.

Eh up Mike. My Dad has a Hohner Madcat, he bought it in 1982 according to the Receipt. I noticed a jive one lower down on the Thumbnails. They really don't show any mercy do they. I had never seen another until Prince had one of course showing it off at his and Gorge Harrisons R*R Hall of Fame induction. I already knew he had one, i had seen him with it on a couple of his Album photos. God bless brother.

I don’t know if the original guitar is still owned by the same guy but in the early 2000s it was owned by someone in the North East of England and it was in the shop that I used to buy from (Sound Control, Newcastle) for work to be carried out on it. I was fortunate enough to see it at that time. Alas the shop is no longer in existence as the company went bust.Amazing guitar and one that I think would have been virtually impossible to copy so those photographs are definitely as fake as the guitar!!!. Those pictures of the Kossoff LP are 100% the real guitar. I feel sorry for those that fall for the con. IF that was the actual copy they were selling then they would sell so many of them it would be insane! I would buy one just to have as a wall hanger even if it was unplayable!

There are references to a August 2015 article in Guitar and Bass Magazine where Steve Clarke did a technical review of that guitar before it was auctioned at Bonhams. I could not find a free version of that online, but maybe that holds some clues? Also, some references and videos to the owner before that, Arthur Ramm from this YT channel ru-vid.com/show-UCsvMfcBoMpPsKTp2bgBnk5A (feel free to remove if you want), who apparently had the guitar up until it was auctioned in 2015.

It is a lot easier to take photos off the web than to do a really accurate copy of a 60 + year old Les Paul. Lots of DH Gate and Aliexpress sites use photos of the original guitar they are supposedly copying. For a few hundred dollars what can you expect ? I have a Chibson 'relic' and it doesn't really look like the photo on the site of the seller but it is a pretty nice guitar for the money. One piece body mahogany body and neck really help but it does not have a real maple cap, just a veneer. Like I said, for a few hundred dollars you get what you pay for.

Totally, you often get something totally unlike the picture when buying from these guys, but I'm not sure I would call it value for money anymore given what's now out there in the value brands such ad Harley Benton, glarry, wolf etc etc.

I meant the fact that they could make 3 or up to 50 exact replicas like that. Didn't realise the point and assumed they realised that would be the unit price.

That Gibson Kossoff replica for £2500 ISNT made by Gibson. It is made from a Gibson guitar, but the company that makes and relics them are based in Basingstoke UK - The Painted Player Guitar Co. It Isn't the official Gibson Kossoff signature (which will set you back 8-10k and only about 600 were made).

@@Chinaguitarsceptic No worries :) The Kossoff Signature model was produced - I think - in 2011/2 or something. 250 were VOS and only 100 were relic'd to the original you show in the video - so less than the 600 I thought. There is actually two VOS versions on reverb - both a lot cheaper than the 8-10k I have seen - but still in the £6000 park. The relic'd ones obviously cost more since only 100 were produced. I also believe the original Kossoff Amber Les Paul is up for auction - or it was: www.bonhams.com/auctions/22818/lot/147/

Painted Player also do versions of Claptons Fool SG plus many other famous guitars. Prices are not cheap but they do use genuine Gibson or Fender guitars.

The first faded burst you showed looks awfully like Bernie Marsden's fabled " Beast". are they using pics of his guitar to try to sell their crap ? Gibson did make some replicas but they sold out before delivery.

Would be interesting to see how far the replica’s have come! I’m sure the ones today are better than those of a few years ago! I’ve got a replica Omega from DH Gate that came in the proper Omega case with guarantee cards and everything! Even when right next to a friends genuine one it’s got the weight and is virtually indistinguishable, even keeps great time, ironically better than his real one, just a few seconds a day! So I’m sure it’s the same with some of the Chibsons!

You are right, I went to their website just to look. I saw several LPs to click on and look at sl8ghtly different price ranges. But every thumbnail was literally same guitar! So you all never be able to the actuall guitar th are buying. RED FLAG!!!

Huge red flag. What you get will be the same as everyone else gets and that's the first similar guitar the sales agent can get his or her hands on. You don't even get value anymore compared to the legit budget brands

I bought one of these...totally crappy finish- bad relic over a nasty reddish burst and all finished in satin. Cheap, sure...so stripping it and re-doing the awful finish. Have seen some decent finishes on Chibsons- but this was not one of them!

I don't understand why anyone would buy a Chibson, when you can get a great guitar, like Epiphone, Harley Benton, MIM Fender, etc. Sometimes on Chibsons, they don't even get the Gibson scale right. They look great, but I wouldn't have the patience to make one ''barely playable''.

Because in a lot of cases Chibsons are superior to Epiphones. I bought an Epiphone JB Lazarus when it first came out I then bought a Chibson Greeny. I sold the Epiphone for £799 which is what I payed. The reason being the Greeny is a better made and feeling guitar than the Epiphone. The Lazarus just didn't feel right where as the Greeny has the same feel and detail as my 2008 Gibson Les Paul Standard Faded.

Its amazing that people are buying these Chinese counterfeit copies from aliexpress and receiving them unhappy with them . I bought a Westfield stratocaster copy from a charity shop for 60 quid 3 months ago and its great guitar always stays in tune and sounds great and better hardware then a Chinese one . Just shows me you can pick up a decent guitar for lemonade money 😆

@@Chinaguitarsceptic They were from Scotland they are not around anymore but did some gibson and fender copies of guitars they are great instruments sub 100 pounds can get you a decent guitar without any issues as a beginner guitar you don't need aliexpress for a Chinese takeaway lol

China has the potential to make these fakes 100% accurate ..but it doesnt have too . Its tapped into our weak spot in that we in the west shop like cats . .and the system works purfect (sorry) . Buying one and reviewing it would only in some way work in thier favour because lets face it most of the review would be good . Review vintage amps pedals and studio gear we can still buy instead .

Lol. I don't swear because I want to keep the channel family friendly. There are lots of channels I watch that I would not play while in company. I make these every now and then because I like to remind people how rubbish these things are and also yes, people like watching these and I try to make content that's in demand.
