That moment when you turn around to see your backing band includes Phil Collins, Sting, Eric Clapton, Carl Perkins, Mark Knopfler and Elton John. I suppose you wouldn't be too fazed if you happened to be Macca.
What a historic moment! It looks like an amazing show full of old-school legends. Only people who are missing are Ozzy Osbourne and Brian May. Wonderful line up for 1997 or any year.
Woooow! Oh my god paul, you are great! He sounds like in the good all days. It's unbelieveable exactly the same voice at least in this video.. still great! :)
Watching this, I would say in that moment, they were all 15 again- with the amps and drums- playing Fats Domino and being bowled over with the great rock and roll sound they were hearing for the first time. Amps. Mikes. Live drums! I know. Like many of you. We all started the same way. In somebodies' parents garage or basement. As a musican, you chase that first thrill your entire life.
This is all positive history in the making. There is nothing bad about this group of history makers and it was awesome to see all of them on stage at one time. I was 3 feet away from Elton John and just that concert alone was something I will never forget. If you were here this would be awesome memories to share.
1. Wow, I've never seen George Martinn playing anything that is not a piano before. 2. I thought Carl Perkins had already passed away when this happened; this must have been one of his last (if not his last) public appearance..... God bless him. 3. Love Ray Cooper looks like he's making love with his tambourines, he's so happy always, you can't not love him, can you? 4. Too bad Mark Knopfler didn't get a solo. 5. Wow, Macca sounds exactly like in his 1964 recording. Great performance!!
Music For Montserrat was a concert held on September 15, 1997 at the Royal Albert Hall. Musicians came together to raise funds for the Caribbean island of Montserrat after a major volcanic eruption earlier that year had left the island devastated. The concert starred musicians such as Phil Collins, Ray Cooper, Carl Perkins, Jimmy Buffett, Mark Knopfler, Sting, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Midge Ure, Arrow and many more.
always happy to see sting freaking out with McCartney's vocals in minute...2.40's... it is like, his smile says it al...... there he is, the king of voice emotion!!!... PAUL MC CARTNEY. the.... GREATEST.
Showtime needs to re-master this, improving the sound quality, mix and mastering...it was a real quality night of music that deserves to be preserved...we don't have Carl Perkins any longer and others will go in time. I had the opportunity to work with #'s of artists recording at the Montserrat AIR Studios. it was a very special place over a special time that will never come again.
Totally awesome!!! The range of talent on display on that stage all playing together almost makes my heart stop!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️ I don't think we'll ever see their like again♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️....
And at 3:04... How do you make Mark Knopfler AND Eric Clapton smile??? You play the SHITE out of the piano like Jools Holland does right there! I LOVE Jools Holland!!!!!
Raymond Thomas "Ray" Cooper He is a session and road-tour percussionist who has played for yrs with so many greats...he often accompanies Paul as part of the band. But Paul also uses Wick for percussionist a lot too. Look up Ray - his list of who he has played with it really long as you said, you have seen him a ton...what is listed is only the tip of ice berg of who all he has played with/for.
