How lucky are we to have grown up with The Beatles and to be a living witness to the two greatest songwriters ever: Paul McCartney and John Lennon? This is not a Paul vs John debate! I love them both! I prefer McCartney, but both have immeasurably enriched my life. At the same time, I feel guilty for not extending my heartfelt appreciation, awe, and respect for the musical genius of George and Ringo. Without them, there would be no Beatles, and this reality, I can’t fathom. Oh, and by the way, I love this song, and I’ll be singing it for the rest of the day! Thanks Paul.
A great song by sir paul i first heard this on the "mccartney' album in 1970 and never tire of hearing it , brilliant live version here rock on sirvpaul youre simply the best !!!
No light show needed for true musicians like Paul and many others back in the day. The music is more than enough in the right hands. God bless all heart felt artists for sharing your special vibes. We need it!
@@dyanapomp - Paul sings: "But tonight I just want to stay in - and be with you". This could mean that he just wants to stay in tonight and be with his wife - and watch some TV, or read, or play cards, or just talk about each other's day... But when he repeats those last four words again: "And be with you"... this time with more emphasis and greater volume... it becomes quite clear exactly what he means by those words. He wants to stay in - and *BE* with her. In the original album version of the song... as soon as those four words ("And be with you") are finished being sung, Paul's acoustic guitar strumming comes in with much greater intensity and volume... further indicating exactly what "and be with you" means. Then Paul begins this wonderful "woo woo" chorus... which tells us even more clearly exactly what they are staying in to do. The "woo woos" describe the passion and romantic connection between a man and his wife (Paul and Linda) making love, escaping from the problems of the day - and fulfilling each other's needs and desires as wonderfully as possible. No lyrics could better describe exactly what is taking place when they decide to "stay in"... than Paul's very expressive vocalization of those "woos". In this updated live version of the song... Paul adds in the occasional additional "I wanna be with you" - which further emphasizes how much he needs to *be* with her. For me... this has always been an obvious love song about Paul's need to be with Linda... especially right after the group he loved so much fell apart.
@@aBeatleFan4ever Yes, I understand that it could be seen as love song, he talks about his love but, to me, this song is mainly about the hard times he was passing through, about facing depression, showing how he felt and how he needed that support Linda gave him. All he did was laying on a pillow, days were passing by and he felt like he was just wasting his time, every night (most difficult time of the day when you have bad thoughts) he wanted to get out of his head... When you feel like that, all you want to do is lay on your bed every single day and stay in with the love of your life, who will console and support you, it's the comfort zone. I think the song has that depression feel to it, it sounds like it was recorded at 3am when he couldn't sleep and wanted to express his worries and suffering and how he was glad he had the emotional support by his side to get him through, giving Linda a sense of escapism... Sadness and having a hard time is what resonates in me when I hear this song, I feel it on a personal level and this all I could think about when I first heard it
@@dyanapomp wrote this: "I think the song has that depression feel to it".... "Sadness and having a hard time is what resonates in me when I hear this song, I feel it on a personal level and this all I could think about when I first heard it". Diana - First, I want to say that I enjoy hearing your personal take on the song. It is interesting that you hear and feel the song that way. It never came across that way to me. I always saw it primarily as beautiful love song - and it always leaves me feeling uplifted every time I hear it. I think it may be my all time favorite McCartney solo song. I love a LOT of his songs... but this one has a really beautiful quality to it that I find extremely appealing. It makes me happy. I find it very uplifting that despite being crushed by the loss of his group (which he loved so much and it had been pretty much his entire life's focus since he had been a teen)... he was able to find tremendous solace in the love of his wife. For me... the "Be with you" part overwhelms the other parts of the song - making the overall experience very positive. I hear great joy and love in the "Wooo wooo" parts of the song. I think those "Woooo wooo" parts say so much - even more than any words Paul could have used in their place. Despite everything else that may be wrong in his life... he still has Linda... and that part of his life makes him a very happy man. "Believe me mama". I wrote some additional stuff about the song a few years ago in a discussion about it: "Every night I just want to go out - get out of my head. Every day I don't want to get up - get out of my bed." I love the way Paul uses the same basic sentence structure for these two opening lines... changing just a few key words to convey the difference between every "night" and every "day". The first three lines tell us that he is having a hard time dealing with his life. He needs to go out and play every night - to get out of his head. Then the 4th line ("and every day I want to do oo, oo, oo, oo.") tells me that the reason he needs to go out every night and get out of his head - is because once he recovers from the night before - and tries to actually "do" something during the day... he just can't. He *wants* to "do" - but his band is broken up - and there is nothing to do. The lyrics (including Paul's "woos") tell the story of a Beatle struggling to cope with the end of the group he loved so much... surviving with the help of his wife. Their love and passion are reason enough for him to live on - and see what life might have coming around the next corner. In the end, the bliss he had of being able to simply "be with Linda"... was strong enough to lift him out of his depression - and let him move on and begin a new direction. Paul's acoustic guitar play works exceptionally well throughout the song and his bass playing and drum work provide a perfect backdrop. I never tire of listening to this marvelous song. It still sounds as fresh and beautiful as it did the first time I heard it.
@@aBeatleFan4ever The fifth and sixth paragraph you wrote is exactly the way I see it. I think we both kinda interpret the lyrics the same way but we feel the song differently and our main theme differs... I love this song too and it's one of my favorites from him as well because I identify with it. It's so soulful and I feel good when I hear it too, I find refuge in it. I never thought I would call someone an idol in my life, but Paul just meets all requirements and much more, he's really especial. His music, his efforts, his personality, his life and the way he got through it despite adversities inspires me in so many levels. I love talking about him so thank you for this. As a postscript, I'd like to point out that english is not my first language so there may be some things that I haven't expressed well, sorry
2 things . I love the E7 chord...it really suits Pauls voice and he uses it a lot. I also love the Ovation sound by the lead...it really adds some gravitas and a sitar kind of vibe. Excellent.
@Joy Stinson, Wings in 76 can't be beat, my absolute favorite lineup! June 10, 1976 I was at the Seattle Kingdome. To this day it's the very best concert I've ever attended!
I saw Wings in Atlanta in June of '76. I had just turned 13 and had been really depressed for over a year, since my dad had passed suddenly. Something happened at that first time seeing and hearing this beautiful soul singing and playing and conveying love to the audience... it really lifted lifted my mood, and evwry time after that when I listen to a recording or see him live in concert it is still the same magical feeling. Like, yes it is still a beautiful world in spitevof all the heartache, suffering and war betqeen countries and people. I feel very, very blessed to have heard his beautiful music and messages of love over the years. Don't know what life would be like without it (and him, with his charming, positive, altruistic, charitable and loving soul). Long live James Paul McCartney! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜👋✌️👍🫵🤝💪👏🙌🫶👐🤝🤜☝️🫴🫂🎼🎵🎶🎸🎹🥁🇬🇧🇺🇸
For me... the original album version is by far the best. This live version from 1979 is very good also. The unplugged version is a very distant third, in my view.
Yes one of my favorites by Paul McCartney such a great composer.... It's a song for Lovers in Love. So good to hear it in this troubled age. 💕💕💕🙏☮️🥰🏳️🌈
The good ol' days. How I wish I could go back and experience classic artists such as this legend. I hope the art of performing once again will be appreciated by the people and playbacks and lipsyncs are less popular.
Vocals are great...I wonder if Linda is doing the high harmonies...and the bass playing just fills beautifully. Then he switches timbres vocally...sublime.
Excelente versão mais lenta de Every Night do Genial Paul McCartney! Foi lançada no seu Álbum "McCartney" de 1970. Para mim, um Ano inesquecível, cheio de aventuras amorosas ao som desta fantástica música!
Nothing got to do with Wings! This is from his first post Beatles album,McCartney I. Anyhow,,great Wings perfomance and a very nice version of the song.
@@Bella-nt7ec Paul admitted he used part of you never give me your money for every night. It is only the ohh ohh ohh ooh, ooh ooh ,ooh ooh part that is obvious to me, though you are entitled to your own opinion. Also it probably is played in a different key making it sound a little different to some people. paul /admitted he intentionally used part
Sylvio Cordeiro - Macca said in an interview that the Hofner is better for his back than the Yamaha or the Rickenbacker. Gotta remember- he's 74 and doing 2+hour shows every night or every other night when on tour. I agree w/ him on the Yamaha-the BB1200 was pretty heavy. The Ricks were lighter, but neck-heavy.
So the Pol Pot regime got taken down in January 1979, I wonder which month of 1979, this concert happened in. And was it in celebration. Of the pol pot regime finally being taken down? Love this music. It’s very poignant listening to lyrics about love, understanding, being free, in a country that has just been thru a period of genocide by a tyrant like Pol Pot.
it was on his single album, "McCartney", he played every instrument , only him.....when he played it with "Wings" thi year, he had Laurence Juber and Denny Laine on guitars..................
@@chriskelishes6852 - I think John would have said that "Every Night" rivals (is as good as) any love song that he or George put out after their break up. By 1980 (when John started to make some music again), John had a new appreciation for love songs... and he would have recognized this beautiful one by Paul as one of their best.
For a concert performance i believe he should have upped the tempo a bit - it is really dragging here - and in reality some songs come off better in concert then others -- as an example when Paul played THE NIGHT BEFORE and EIGHT DAYS A WEEK two songs the Beatles never performed live but when Paul added those songs to his set list they really were terrific in a live setting - I liked the recording of EVERY NIGHT but here it is either to slow in tempo or its just one of those good songs that does not go over very well in concert.
