To also think about it as the last thing the 4 of them ever did also is powerful. I sometimes still cry when the world is blue… but even more so when I think about these guys and what they had… and just how much different the world would have been without them!
Was watching this with my son just now and told him, "This is the Paul McCartney that was already rocking when I was in your age", which were exactly the words my dad once told me when I was in my son's age.
Everyone’s saying his voice is gone, but he’s still singing perfectly in key! Not to mention he’s playing the bass spot on at the same time! Very excited to see him later this month on my birthday.
He's singing about a quarter step flat throughout... but he is the brilliant man who wrote these songs and he's 80. Go see him and have a great time. It's Paul.
THAT'S WHAT I SAID IN SPOKANE.. PEOPLE KEPT SAYING HE WAS "LOSING IT." FRIEND WITH ME SAID: "HE'S RIGHT ON KEY." THE BAND'S SO LOUD, HE HAS TO SING HIGHER & PUSH
@@barbarabaldwin7120 He is a little flat in terms of pitch throughout the concert examples that I have heard. That being said it's Paul McCartney. He deserves a little leeway given the way he sang for the majority of his career. People want to thank him for 60 years of great music. That is more important than how he sounds at 80. Jon Bon Jovi has considerably less voice left than Paul and he is 20 years younger. 20 years ago Paul was still able to sing as though it was 1975 and Wings was on tour.
@@georgefromhenley As someone at one of the Oakland shows a few days later, yes, it is the video. His voice isn't what it used to be, but it was better in person than any video I've seen led me to believe it would be.
A little story about this song that people might not have heard before. Abbey Road studios 1969. Billy Kinsley( The Merseybeats) is working in a nearby studio. He walked past the studio that The Beatles were currently recording in. Billy and Paul knew each from their Cavern Club days.. Paul was on his own playing the drums in an otherwise empty studio. Billy said he stood in the doorway and listened as McCartney sang over and over again ‘ You never give me your money, you only give me your funny paper’, as he played a beat on the drums. Kinsley thought to himself that’s a bloody weird song as he made his way to his own studio.. When ‘ Abbey Road ‘was released months later it all became clear. He was witnessing the genesis of a masterpiece!
Tuned in cause there's all these people saying that Sir Paul has lost his singing voice. No; he's not 20 anymore, but he can still carry a tune. Carry on!
People saying his voice is fragile or almost gone-I completely disagree! He may not be able to do certain vocal runs, but he still has that nearly gritty rock vocal that only Paul McCartney can do!
Brilliant.... Absolute Masterpieces. How good is he for almost 80 & still giving to fans the legend of himself & the greatest band that ever was & ever will be.
For him to be that age and still play and sing like that is pretty great in of itself, never mind its Paul McCartney. I feel sorry for people who can't enjoy it!!
Thank You Sir Paul for sharing your passion with us … we are truly blessed to have shared your music for the last 60 years … here is a man who wants for nothing and he still does shows … I wish people would stop complaining about his voice and just enjoy every moment we can spend watching him perform 👏👏👏❣️👏👏👏
I don't understand why people think Paul is going to have the voice of when he was 20, he is nearly 80! It is expected for his voice to sound a bit strained but he still sounds great! I wish I could see him live! Thanks for uploading this :)
There's only a few musicians/celebrities that I would be totally star-struck if I was able to meet them in person....and Paul is definitely at the very top of the list.
SNL had a bit where someone was getting the "five timers club" jacket Alec Baldwin made a cameo, and they didn't tell him Sir Paul was going to be on too. McCartney comes on the screen and Alec is frozen, in awe and can't say his lines. It was very neat.(even f you don't like Alec Baldwin). So, even the biggest stars and egos can be star struck by a Beatle.
And Paul would be so quick to put you at ease and do his best to ease your nervousness and relate to you as an equal. Which speaks to his compassion and his humility as a awesome, kind and down to earth person.
Loved this song from AbbeyRoad album...Sir Paul still amazing performer of his aged..Looking forward to watch you here in Manila before you retired from touring...
I love the man and ALL his music. BUT just hitting the right pitch on the notes is not all there is. Quality of tone is important too! Anyway, check out his doing this same tune back at the very start of his current band...in 2002. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GpFK_LnhTBg.html
He’s hitting notes with “half-voice” - you don’t know what you’re talking about. Also, “key is perfect” is meaningless. You tried to bluff, but you don’t know jackshiitt about music.
Still the same gestures and movements as when he was a young man. Such a youthful face. I loved Paul McCartney and The Beatles as a child, returned to them as a teen although this time the iconoclastic Lennon was my favourite. I’m in my forties now, and it’s McCartney all the way. Fab tunes, melodies, turns of phrase. I keep coming back time and time again.
Two of my favorite Beatle songs, especially Bathroom Window. Wonderful! Thank you for sharing. I’m looking forward to seeing Paul at Syracuse a month from tomorrow!
It doesn't even matter if his voice is shot, what matters the most is he chooses to grace all of us with his celestial presence. He is at the point where just showing up is enough to bless the whole lot of people attending his show. People don't realize what they have until it just disappears forever. He is the most beautiful thing right now on our planet. I am from Pakistan and have tried twice to get the US visa only to see him play live (at whatever ticket price) just for once before he leaves for his final abode, but unfortunately got my visa application rejected by consular officer. I wish I could just see him once, feel his presence around me just for once.
Paul you are a legend, waiting for this for so long you sound fantastic. Not to mention killer bass playing this video highlights it you wrote the book
I love his catalogue, but what I really love most about Sir Paul is that he truly enjoys the company of others: fans, musicians, press and above all else . . . his family. How can you not like a man with that kind of heart and talent?
I love Paul. Have seen him 17 times from 1993-2019. I've loved each concert. Saw him up close a few times in the limo watch. I am tired of hearing fans put down his voice. Let me ask you this - could you do what he's doing at 79, soon to be 80? Performing and touring? Before you critique him, think about that. I'm in my 60s and there are times I can barely make it to my kitchen from tge living room. Lol. I admire him so much. He's so inspiring. Let him enjoy what he loves. He's been doing this since he was a kid. Sadly, one day there will be no Paul. Think about that!
She could steal but she could not rob... Thanks so much for sharing this! My favorite tracks from AR and I was so pumped Paul played them lastnight! I was up in the nose bleeds but there wasn't a bad seat in the house. I'm tempted to see if I can get in again tonight!
People saying his voice is shot have obviously not heard Dylan recently or the late Leonard Cohen. Not knocking either of them. But Paul sounds pretty good for someone who’s 80 years old.
seeing so many old stars ridicule themselves as they grow old, Paul's mind has stayed in place and does what he was always doing creating and playing music, for me he sounds fine
Wow you had great seats!! And Paul is sounding better with every subsequent concert! 😍 Wish they would’ve done this from the beginning but still, I bet it was awesome to hear him do it live
His amazing bass playing is on full display here, and he's singing at the same time, not as strong as before but still in key. The guy is 80, he's making adjustments as needed, and he's the greatest pop songwriter of all time.
Paul is just an anomaly. I get frustrated reading about Paul's voice. I think its still amazing . Come on man. McCartney will 80 in just a couple weeks. The fact that he can perform and carry on ! Many people in there 60 & 70s could not even tour . I say enjoy this him feel the love !
His voice isn't good now at all, that doesn't mean he should quit though. His voice is still solid and it works just fine. We should just give it a few years. I don't want to see the poor guy singing in a wheelchair. Maybe when his voice fully goes he can do instrumentals
Have you ever listened to anyone live under the microscope, it can all sound a bit flat and sharp. Go to the concert and you’ll hear how good it sounds like live. His tickets sell out in minutes, so as long as people want to go who the hell is anyone to criticise. I’d love to hear these people who criticise so much get up on that stage and sing.
He says he's never done it live before...but he did in 2002 in the Back In The US tour. But after so many shows, we'll give the man a break. At least he's still rocking at 80!
I really love Paul and know 95% of his incredibly proficous career, I´ve studied meticulously every aspect of his music, and I´ve performed myself singing his songs on tribute bands in Brazil . One of the greatest composers , singers and performers of all time . But the time has come for his retirement . He just can´t sing anymore , and refuses to put the songs on lower keys . I think it´s time to give more interviews on all his phonografic career , which is eternal .
