Lincoln Cents are among the most popular coins to collect and offer a number of varieties. Wide AM and Close AM refers to the distance between the A and the M in AMERICA on certain Lincoln Cents. But, there are other diagnostics these pieces offer that you can learn more about here.

Hello PCGS. Would love to see a short tutorial explaining the differences between an ERROR and a VARIETY. I think a lot of collectors get the two confused. In addition, maybe a video on how to tell the difference in worthless machine doubling vs. true hub doubling would be very helpful to those new to the hobby. Thanks.

I have a 1998 Type 2 reverse (wide A-M) Double Struck error that I've had since almost 25 years now, 2nd strike around 40% off-center and certified MS64red by ANACS + a 1998 quadruple struck LMC that pcgs originally graded MS65RED, I submitted it raw to ANACS to compare grades and ANACS graded it MS62RED, a 3 point drop...

That's awesome and a good payday if it returns MS! Just curious, did you find it in the wild? I keep hoping one day I'll luck up and find one in pocket change. I'm a long time error and variety collector myself. Congrats. 👍

@@gaoutdooradventures Found it coin roll hunting a bank box. I’m guessing it’ll come back a MS62 maybe 🤞🏼 Good luck, they’re out there

@@dooley417 Man, that’s incredible to find one CRHing!!!! I have a friend who’s good friend also found one in a bank roll. Not that he was looking to turn a profit, as I was told he’s a diehard collector, but it couldn’t have happened at a better time. Unfortunately, his young son had some medical issues and the bills were piling up. The guy (I don’t know his name) had a box of bank wrapped Linc’s under his bed that had been there for awhile and he decided to see what was in them on a whim. It just so happened there was a 92’ Philly CAM in them! I believe it slabbed out at MS 62 and pretty much covered the pile of medical bills he was faced with. God works in mysterious ways. Good luck and please let us know what yours grades.👍

do you charge for full steps and full torch designation. i have a ton of coins to send in, had my account for almost a year and still dont know if you charge for those or not. also, i have 8 vouchers to use yet, but dont know the numbers to the vouchers, can i still send them in

No, those designations are part of the course of grading and not a variety so there would not be an additional charge in order to be evaluated as FS or FB. With the vouchers, it should show in your account that you have valid vouchers remaining. You can touch base with Customer Service to make sure.
