It’s PCOS Awareness Month and as a special treat, Sarika Shah, MS, RDN graciously agreed to chat with me about Indian food, nutrition for insulin resistance, and her philosophy on nutrition. She shared some of the tips she shares with clients to create delicious meals that counter inflammation and support blood sugar balance (perfect for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) with foods commonly eaten in South Asian households.
Thank you so much to those of you who asked for more culturally relevant nutrition guidance. You inspired this video. 🤗

Hi there 👋🏽 I'd love to provide more information on Nigerian food and how to combine them to support hormone health and insulin sensitivity for PCOS. I'm not Nigerian so I don't know a ton about commonly eaten foods, but I will see if I can find a dietitian who is and interview her. In the meantime, this video and some of my other videos provide general guidance around how to pair non-starchy vegetables, carb-rich foods, and protein-rich foods to create more balanced meals. Hopefully, you can use that information to figure out how to mix and match your cultural foods. Be well!
