The sunrise was amazing. So happy that I could provide trail magic for you and thankful for Hazel to help coordinate it. Also, very grateful to have met you three and to spend some time with you this past weekend at Trail Days. And remember- to do Happy Trails responsible. Lol. That was very funny and thank you for relaying that. Happy Trails and hope to see you all down the road at some point.
It's great seeing Michelle here. I met her last year at Timberline Lodge when I hiked with Marmalade to Cascade Locks, we all had breakfast together. Michelle is a gem and hosts excellent trail magic!
You actually caught a glimpse of Mt. St. Helens. Clouds were obscuring the tell-tail flat top from the 1980 eruption. You will get a good view of Mt. Adams tomorrow and hopefully, Ranier too. Happy Trails.
Yeah, they're getting a bit ahead of themselves in how far around the mountain they traveled when they showed Mississippi Head above Zigzag River Canyon.
Yes, I do that climb a couple of times a year and it never seems easy, especially not easy on a hot day. Fortunately, there's a couple of spots on the climb to get water, so we don't have to carry too much.
Very lovely sunrise, mountain ranges and waterfall. Nice trail magic, thanks to Michelle. It was great to wake up to not one, but two codger postings. What a treat! You guys are doing great. And when I say guys, that always includes Hazel. Happy Trails!
Though you didn’t get timberline lodges famous breakfast buffet but you got treated to great trail magic and still crushed the miles. Walking in the soft volcanic ash is harder I think than beach sand . I grew up in the area. My aunt and uncle and cousins lived in hood river and us on the WA side. My dad was the backpacker in the family. So when he died I got some of his camping/ hiking gear. It’s really buggy there in the summer for sure. But oh so beautiful. Mt Hood is one of the most photogenic mountains I’ve ever seen. Though mt adams and rainier are pretty close. Thanks for posting your adventures
Imagine you are at Trail Days this weekend. Into Washington State, my home. Get ready for some amazing views and pristine forest. Love your videos! Been with you since day one.
I've been to Timberline Lodge when the bubble of PCT hikers begins to come thru...tired faces and sore feet are common sights and of course the stench...you can sense the end is closer and days turn into a repetitive slog of putting in miles rather than enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Probably why I hate thru hiking 🥾 myself because for me I would quickly lose my love for the trail...I would rather do a small section without the stress to get in those miles...I'll be most interested in how many go back to finish the Sierra? Not many will be my guess
Pure Unadulterated Greatness. I know the trail pulls you along but I’d HAVE to stay at the lodge for at least another night and probably two. Mt Hood would call to me. ❤️❤️❤️ to all trail angels!!
I'm kind of surprised that you aren't taking the Eagle Creek alternate (based on how far you said you are from Cascade Locks). That's a beautiful canyon even after the fire.
Today is 8/18, the first day of PCT Trail Days. You must've arrived at Cascade Licks nearly a week early. Are you there, or did you decide to keep going? Beautiful footage today!
I’ve been watching you guys since you set foot on the PCT. One of the things I remembered at the beginning of this adventure was how you were amazed by the vistas. I know the AT is a stunning and fabulous trail but, the wilderness along the PCT is a different animal. You all are the best ever. Are you planning to go to PCT Days in Cascade Locks?
I believe they said they were when they said that they will meet Ash again at the trail days. However they seem a bit early and might have decided to move on. I suspect that they are there.
