I normally watch 5 channels each year on the PCT. this year, it has been one and one only, The Old Codgers. It has been a fantastic journey, and I think you have made the right decision. You couldn't hike the snow area it was too dangerous. You missed the fire closures as they were closures, so to me, you are definitely through hikers. It was a great adventure for you and a fantastic adventure for me. I've loved every step of the way. Thank you both so much for bringing the trail alive for us. Last year, so many couldn't get to the Terminus because of the closure, but you did it. Fantastic channel, and I'll miss seeing Hazel. I hope you keep in touch. Your sister is a star for donating the money to such a worthy cause. Thank you for everything. Special thanks to the editor giving the Codgers time to concentrate on the Trail. I'll miss you guys. Thank you again from Chris in England UK. Now is the time to maybe follow my channel? 🤔🙄😳😉
Congratulations guys. I’m amazed that I’ve watched your videos from the start. There have been no other tubers that I have been able to watch the entire trip. Most focus on themselves so much that I get tired of listening to them. You guys focus on the trail with an “appropriate “ amount of talking. Loved it all the way through. Thank you for sharing your amazing adventure with us.
Congratulations. I have followed you from Day 1 and its been a pleasure and privilege. It's not just your achievement; mind boggling as it is. Its also the manner in which you did it, the class, the style, the humour and the incredible commitment of sharing a video every day and allowing us to travel with you. You have been, and are, a class act and every one of your followers on this channel will attest to this. You have been a part of our every day for the last six months. They say post trail depression is real, but I had not known post trail watching depression is also real. We will miss your videos badly. Congratulations to Hazel too. You all didn't know each other until that first day in Campo - its a tribute to you that you did this together. A big shout out to Mrs R and to Joe's sister N. Thank you for making these videos a treasure to savour. It was hard work, but hopefully the number of fans you have from across the world is some recompense. Au Revoir -- A fellow codger from a world away in India
I'm a old hiker, in my mid seventies, enjoyed your adventure! I'm a docent at Carson Pass, next year if you finish, please drop by , love to meet you guys!
Congrats in the big accomplishment. Wow, you made it. Thank you for sharing your journey, documenting your river crossings, the amazing waterfalls, sharing your love of DIRT lol. So many experiences and your shared them so people can live vicariously through you and for those who may never have the opportunity to have the same experience. Thank you for sharing the beauty of the USA and Cananda.
Dear Joe & David - watching your hike of the PCT has been an inspiration and a source of joy for our whole family this year. I feel like we've really gotten to know you both (and as the episodes went on we loved seeing more of Hazel and the other companions you met along the way). Sayings like "we like durt" and "we like bridges" are now a part of our family lexicon :-) . As your hike progressed towards the Sierra and then into Northern California, your hike inspired me to complete my first ever section hike (Snoqualmie to Stevens Pass); a heart felt THANK YOU! Congratulations to you both and Hazel and the entire tramily on reaching Canada, and here's hoping we get to live vicariously through your hikes in the future! Best wishes and 'happy trails' from Seattle!
Congratulations to Rumbles, No Filter, Mountain Goat, and the extended Codger Crew on reaching the monument and tagging the border. Looking forward to your concluding videos. Concerning putting the Sierras on hold, I believe your decision is wise. Hiking the PCT need not be a forced, one-year burden of completion. It should be a savored experience of fulfillment. I'm sure following up on your remaining trail in later years will be fulfilling. In so many ways you both have been an inspiration. Thank you. Wherever life's trail has led you -- Be safe; keep at it!
I am really going to miss my daily Codger fix. It has been such a pleasure to follow your progress. You guys have given me the bug to do the PCT myself. Thank you and God Speed in your future plans. Be safe and hike on.
Congratulations and thank you so very much for sharing this epic trek! Thank you to No Filters sister for her music and to Ms. Rumbles for the fantastic editing and time she put in! Y'all are the best. I can't wait to see what's next from you! Safe trip home and Happy Trails!! ☮️🏕️
So bummed your hike is over, but understand wanting to go home! I missed you on the AT so I’ll start watching that hike now. Please do a Q&A with Hazel! Would love to learn more about her and why she wanted to hike the PCT! Thanks for taking all of us along on your PCT adventure! Congratulations again on making it to Canada! Hope to see you back next summer!
Gentlemen, it has been a pleasure and honor to share in your journey. I come home from work each day and always checked in to see how you were doing. You are an inspiration for the rest of us”older hikers”. Thank you!!!!!
Congratulations guys! Good decision to finish now, the Sierra is worth taking your time. Thank you and Mrs Rumbles editor extraordinaire for all of the work involved in sharing your hike with us. It's been a blast watching and rooting you on! Now grab an adult beverage and lets all say Happy trails, happy trails, happy trails!
What a journey. It's been fun following the three of you and the others you encountered on the way. You captured the interest of a lot of people. Nothing but admiration for what you have accomplished. Been following you from the beginning. Two very humble, fine fellas.
My wife and I have enjoyed your trip. It was a bright spot in our day. We are now watching your AT adventure. thanks for taking us along.

Congratulations to “Hazel and the Codgers”! Youv’e inspired us, and allowed us live on the trail with you. Great to meet you in person on the trail north of Snoqualmie!
Congratulations to the Codgers and Hazel. My husband and I have been watching you all since the beginning. We are also codgers and day hikers in southern New Hampshire and we’ve been living vicariously through you. Thank you so much for letting us watch as you hiked the PCT to the Canadian border. Also, thank you to your wives and family, for without their help and support none of this would have been possible. Thank you all.
Absolutely beautiful what a hike. Joes a awesome morning person 😂. Thank you codgers you folks killed it!!!! what a day.. the trail is life.. hope to see you folks next year in California god bless you codgers happy trails and aloha Life is good 😊
Gentlemen: Congratulations on an amazing accomplishment, and thank you for sharing it with all of us. As an “older” through biker (PCT 1977) I really enjoyed your videos along the trail. I hope you can return to experience the incredible beauty of the Sierras (my “playground”). Should you need any assistance for such a future endeavor, please reach out!
I have health issues, so this codgers hiking days are mostly over. A few years ago I started watching people hike the PCT. I lived and worked in Yosemite National Park for 24 years and hiked most of its trails. Whenever I would see the PCT hikers pass through I always thought, if you could only see it in August when the mosquitos are gone and the lakes are warm enough to swim in. I don't know if that ever really happened this year with the snow pack, but the high Sierra in the summer is pure magic. I have some favorite places and I love nothing more then to backpack in and stay at a lake for a week and do day hikes from there. Thanks for taking us along. Happy Trails!
Oh congratulations I usually watch one or 22 hikers each year. I really enjoyed your company stories adventure through the Sierras and the friendships. Definitely cannot miss that 40th anniversary.
What a beautiful culmination to an amazing journey! Thank you for a stellar presentation of the PCT2023, a visual feast. These daily updates with catchy background strumming will be missed! Thanks to all who contributed to the final version that we got to enjoy… much appreciated! A happy Rosh Hashana to you all! 🍎🍯
Thank you fellow Codgers! What a great adventure and wonderful finish. You helped me relive my PCT adventure of 2016. I greatly appreciate it and will miss your almost daily presence. Also much kudos to your production/music staff, a magnificent presentation. Happy trails and godspeed to home!
Awh I'm kind of sad it's all over, every morning I've sat down with my cuppa (I'm British) and watched you guys and your progress! Thank you for taking us all along with you and congratulations 🎉🎉
Congratulations 🍾 Codgers and Hazel! We’ve been following your journey since Day 1! We’re going to miss watching y’all! I’d love to know what re-entry back into regular life is like! Thank you for the the incredible job documenting! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Very cool, the heart felt love you must have shared with other hikers on that terminus stretch. Thanks again Hazel , for keeping the Codgers under your wings the whole trip mostly , your an angel. Wow, who attacked the Blue Duplex, all in one area to. Have a safe winter you guys , going back in to the dense city life density can be dangerous, carry Bear Spray.
Congratulations on finishing and many thanks for taking us along. We had lots of fun watching you all. Smart decision on not doing the Sierras after hitting the northern terminus. I Backpacked from Taboose TH to South Lake (Bishop) in mid August and still big snow patches to traverses and rock scrambling at Mather Pass, trails that are creeks, and lots of blow downs. We skipped Muir Pass and Evolution Valley due to south-bounders telling us of 6 miles of snow. Enjoy your post hike lifestyle.
I sure enjoyed following you guys. I'm a fellow chronologically challenged hiking enthusiast. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure with us. I'm looking forward to watching your extended JMT hike next year. I've hiked it twice in August. I highly recommend. Best of luck Codgers!
I've enjoyed spending the last couple of months with you all. I spent 15 years sectioning the trail and really enjoyed seeing so many places I remembered. However, many things are different especially the changing of the guard of trail angels and lots more burned areas. Happy Trails to you!!
Started watching in March. Saw you slogging in the snow around San Jacinto and Gorgonio (my neck of the woods) and I thought these guys will never make it out of southern California. When you left trail at Kennedy Meadows, I thought you would never come back. But you did and I held my breath as you entered the cold and snow packed southern Sierras. Then ... unbelievably, you made it! ... my heroes! Grateful for every day that you shared and inspired us and I will miss you and Hazel very much. Happy Trails.
So grateful to have been able to vicariously accompany you guys on your magnificent journey. Congratulations are certainly in order. Really going to miss the daily posts (great job by Mrs. Rumbles), and the music is great as well. Hope you get through " decompression " o.k. See you when you get back. Cheers!
Holy crap Codgers, what am I gon' do now? Been watching you daily for what seems like forever ;) Going to miss watching you guys :) Well done on completing your journey!
Congratulations! Enjoyed watching your videos. I know a lot of work went into making those and they were the best videos of any thru hikes I've ever watched. Especially those that document every day of the hike.
I followed three channels, enjoyed you guys the most, congratulations on an amazing journey. I absolutely loved watching it. It I learned so much, I wish I wasn't so old... But through you I saw the hike and the beautiful surroundings... My favorite part of it was Washington... I was disappointed in California... I'm originally from there and not impressed...
Congratulations!!! Great job! FYI...as someone who lives in California and regularly hikes/backpacks in the Sierra, August and September are great months for that. Especially if we have another winter like last year, it means most of the snow will be melted and the river crossings will be much easier. I don't blame you for not wanting to rush through them either. They are incredibly beautiful! Happy trails and I look forward to seeing your Sierra adventures next summer.
I too have been watching since the beginning of your hike. While I am happy for you and congratulate you on your decision not to rush thru the Sierras, I am sad to see this journey end. Many blessings to you and your families.
Congratulations! What an amazing accomplishment! I enjoyed watching your videos. Thank you so much for sharing. Look forward to seeing you on the trail next year! 😎👍
Congrats on makin* it to Canada! Good job for two old codgers. It’s been such a joy following your adventures. Will miss the joyful groans. I think you are wise not to flip this year. It’s a lot and the weather here is already starting to turn. Better to wait and come back between July and September which is the peak time and more resupply places are open like VVR and reds meadow. And hopefully miss fire season. And you can pick up San Jacinto and Baden Powell pretty easily and maybe get to enjoy idyllwild, wrightwood, mammoth lakes, Yosemite, Markleeville, Tahoe, etc. And happy 40th anniversary. Enjoy your time with your families.
Awesome job gentlemen! Been great following your adventure. Being 65 and a backpacker myself, following you has been inspiring. Rumbles, if you need a partner for some or all of the Sierra, I’d be up for it. 👍🏻
Congrats to you all for tagging Canada! I've very much enjoyed following along as you headed north. re: the seasons changing, I'm about to head up Lamarck Col out of North Lake, and it's supposed to get cold in the high Sierra this next week, with a chance of snow flurries toward the end of the week. Your trip through the Sierra should be a victory lap, so I I think you made the right call.
Wow you did it ……Congratulations, I think you made a wise decision to come back and hike the remaining,as they say it’s about the Journey! It’s has been a wonderful experience for me in getting to see the diversity of the west coast, never been to Southern California and when you started out I thought why would I want to watch this desert, but I found every day I kept coming back ….I had spent time in Washington and Oregon.. I am not a hiker ,never going to be hiker but I love love my Mountains in East Tennessee. Thank you all ,your wife for her hard work on the videos, your Sister for the amazing music, and to all the Trail Angels. I will definitely be sending a donation in to Alzheimer’s Association a very worthwhile organization.💚🌿🍃. Happy Trails to ALL
Congratulations Codgers and thanks for sharing your PCT journey. I hope you go back and finish the rest of the Sierra Nevada section you skipped. Congrats to Hazel.
This has been an incredible journey! Big congratulations on reaching the northern terminus! Hiking with the Codgers has been a blast! What an enjoyable, healthy, family friendly, no drama channel. So refreshing to see you meet everyday with a smile and corny jokes 😊. Thanks for the updates on the Sierra section, I think you have a great strategy for finishing next year. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Rumbles on your 40th wedding anniversary! HAPPY TRAILS!👣👣👣👣
It’s bittersweet I know. You said our comments have helped you along the way but you’ve helped me along the way as I’m sitting having some coffee in the morning or after a hard day of work watching your adventure and then again, there’s the happy trails beer game I’ve been playing for months you’ve become a part of my life and I will miss you. Happy trails.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Have appreciated your taking us along on your adventure. Have seen vistas and scenery we wouldn't have seen otherwise. CODGERS RULE!
Congratulations on making it to Canada! Congratulations to Riverdance on completing the Triple Crown! Thank you for sharing the journey and thanks for the pretty music.
Congrats to a great bunch of people! Thank you so much for all the great videos (and great editing; thank you Dave's wife!) I've watch every single upload. I'm the same age range as the Codgers and if my health and finances change for the better maybe I'll do some thru hiking. I've always been an avid hiker and really appreciate the time you guys spent filming!
Congratulations gents. I hope to have a successful hike next year. You have given me quite a bit of insight. I qualify as a codger, so thank you so much.
You guys are truly amazing! Thank you so much for all your videos. They’ve helped me see the paths and views my daughter will be experiencing on the PCT on her hike this year. She started in April and made it through the Sierra so has been a couple of hundred miles behind you guys for most of the way. Your wonderful videos will be much missed. I shall look forward to your wrap up videos. Enjoy getting back with your family and friends - huge thank you once again,
Congratulations for reaching Northern Terminal!🎉🎉🎉 It has been really really cool to follow you guys & Hazel, absolutely a fantastic journey, and always a positive note even when stuff got rough... Thank you so much for having shared your journey, cheers from West coast of Norway 👍😀🏜🏕
Congrats on your journey. You both were a great find to follow. It was very enjoyable. From me Thank you for sharing you journey. I will go back a watch your AT hike. Thanks.
WONDERFUL!! So much RESPECT for y’all!! 1000% understand the decision!! Will be looking forward to ALL the wrap up videos!!! Planes, Boats, Bicycles, Feet - no trains????? So no trail between Lions Den and Hart pass???
You guys are incredible! So inspiring! I want yo do this. It's been gnawing at me for years. I will be65 in March, you gave me the courage to at least try. Thank you!
Congratulations Codgers, I started watching you to see if an older person could manage the trail. You have become a part of my morning ritual with my cup of tea and also my inspiration to embark on my own PCT journey next year. Thank you Codgers!
Thank you for taking us along on your journey. You’ve been the standout team to watch this year. So personable and a friend to all. Will anxiously await to perhaps see you do the Sierra next year. August would be a beautiful month and hope you both (and maybe Hazel too) can get ‘er done. Congratulations, gentlemen. A job well done! 👏👏👏👏👏
Wow, what a journey you took us on! My Grandfather was a friend of Ansel Adams and a well known landscape artist. He painted many landscapes of the beautiful mountains you brought us to. It made me think of him and his love of nature and its beauty. I too am sad your journey is over. I enjoyed it very much. I'm going to start watching your ACT trip from the beginning tomorrow morning. Today, I reflect!😅😅
Congratulations on reaching the northern terminus! Thanks so much for sharing your hike with us viewers. Really enjoyed the beautiful scenery and humor! Happy Trails
Congrats Codgers!! This is Bugz & the Dude who were also Codgers on the trail finishing WA from a ‘22 thru hike cut short from fires. We were watching u from the start with the snow pack & just missed u by a week since we decided not to hike the alt route to Stehekin…but met Mtn Mime & Sonny. Our only complaint about u guys is the fact u made us other Codgers look bad with your 20-30+Mi days!! U were like the Younguns out there, so WOW…u guys were ballers!!! Good choice to wait on the Sierras next yr bcuz without snow, it’s a whole other wonderful experience. Congrats 🎉 again & thx for taking us on the hike with u guys…excellent job!!! 👏🏻👍🏻😊
CONGRATULATIONS on reaching the Northern Terminus! Thank you for taking us along your journey! Being of codger age, I could vicariously experience the PCT! The friendship between you two is inspiring! All the best in all your future endeavors!!!
Congrats guys. Been with you since day 1. You've brought a lot of joy to my mornings before I go out for my walk. You've been a real inspiration. Going miss you. Happy Trails!
