I missed watching this the first time around; those eyes are always freaky in the middle of the night. Definitely need to do it again when its more "summery" and less fall/rainy. Food does taste so good after a long trip like that!

I've been on parts of the PCT in a few places in CA, OR, and WA, everywhere it is a beautiful trail. Thanks!

You are an animal. This old girl just crawls along the trail, but I do just keep on keeping on.

Thank you Liz! This one was a lot of fun, and one of my first solo overnight adventures. Such a beautiful trail.

Planning a backpacking trip on this section this summer, nice preview with the views, terrain and showing the trail route with the switchbacks. It looks gorgeous, so green that’s it a huge contrast after doing 3 sections of the PCT in So Cal this year.

Good luck! I hope you have a good time. I don't think this video captured the bugs. Beware that water stops can be very very bug-filled. :)

Have you done your hike yet?

When on my hike I ran into two people who were running the entire section starting at Stevens Pass going to Snoqualmie Pass in a single day. In the rain.

Awesome! Fastpacking this as a 2-day has been on my bucket list. Hoping to get it done this summer. Is there a big difference between going north and going north?
@wplate
@wplate 4 года назад
Alexander Simes More people I know have gone southbound, it does mean the rocky parts north of Kendall Katwalk get hit on tired legs. I haven’t done it both directions nor studied the differences so I can’t say beyond that.

@@wplate Thanks! Look like southbound has maybe 1000ft less climbing, but you raise a good point that going down that catwalk (possibly in the dark) on exhausted legs would be rough

Great job! What bivy sac did you get?

Outdoor Research Molecule Bivy Sack. Thank you for watching!

I'm planning on doing this exact thing in July this year. I saw your bivy sack recommendation, but what is your fast pack that you use? That's my missing equipment piece! Thanks in advance!!!
@wplate
@wplate Год назад
Darn, sorry I didn't include my gear list in this video's description. The pack is the same I used at Moab 240 in 2019. That video description has a link to it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iyXfhhEMqxM.html

@@wplate Thank you, super helpful! Did you also have a sleeping bag in there as well? Or just the bivy and some warm clothes?
@wplate
@wplate Год назад
@@KyleOman I added that Houdini jacket and maybe some tights or something on my legs. I didn't have a sleeping bag I just wore more clothes.

I think I'd run it in the opposite direction for the better restaurant choices at the end.

North to South is a popular choice.

I filtered water from streams, so I only had to carry at most a couple liters at a time.
