I don't know if it's just my own experience, but air cooled engines tend to consume a little bit of oil on long rides, while liquid cooled bikes can run for thousands of kilometers without adding a drop of oil or coolant. I think it's because air cooled engines have larger tolerances to allow for heat expansion, while liquid cooled have a narrower temperature range and therefore tighter tolerances.

I beg to differ, i used to own pulsar 150 (2010 batch), when riding enthusiastically on long distances and especially in hilly terrains, it shuts off due to certain heat of the engine. I had to stop often, say after every 40km or so. Second, I currently use NS200 bs6 as my commuter, as it's a liquid cooled, the hot air gets directed to the lower parts of the legs but by the time it touchthe legs, it feels warm (not hot). Travel 100km in a single take, it doesn't dissapoint.

Water, air and oil cooled engines are in the end air cooled engines. The difference is in what type of liquid/gas we will use to dissipate/transfer heat from the source. I have a BMW motorcycle with a boxer engine. The engine is cooled by air and oil, plus there are no problems with traffic jams because it is equipped with a thermostat and a fan. I don't see any flaws. Water cooling is "future" bc the reduction in oil capacity and emmisons standards is intended to preserve the environment. So today, highly efficient engines are made that are more enviromentaly friendly, and on the other hand, there are more complex systems that require more expensive production and maintenance, as well as a higher probability that something breaks down.

For eg, gixxer sf250 vs fz25 vs R15.. r15 being highest has LC system whereas sf goes with OC system and fz just gets with air cooled. The relation mostly i see is with compression ratio. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Almost in every video, Shumi is saying to buy the bike you love the most. That is the most important advice.

Sir I want know about both cooling system like ducati v4r pumping mechanism and pressure oil pumps mechanism like superduke

What is important is the engine oil temperature as viscosity of the lube oil varies with the temperature. Any cooling system needs to keep the lube oil temperature within specified range to prevent its faster degradation and viscosity within range for low frictional HP loss. It will be worth to compare the lube oil temp of two 250 CC engines (each having different cooling systems) after say a 100 km run or steep climb of 30 - 40 km ie something similar to the dyno tests being done by auto journalists.

If the manufacturer has done their homework, there won’t be any difference.

Cooling system is decided by manufacturer based on compression ratio of air fuel mixture. High compression(above 10 :1) engines like ktm have liquid cooled engine, low compression engines like harley and royal enfeild interceptor have air cooled and some bikes use oil cooler. And gixxer 250 cooling system does not fit into any of 3 cooling system explained by shumi. Its fully oil cooled without engine fins

I feel Air cooled are the best for Indian conditions.... unless you hit tracks or do serious highway cruising!! 👐

I disagree! To me the cooling system is a function of what the engine needs. That’s all. Case closed there only
