PDR and Drilling Holes... Is it acceptable? What are your thoughts? Hole Haters, let's hear it.

I'd rather have a hole drilled than removing the door trim and ending up with rattles and other noises.. It's just a small hole.

I've been doing PDR for 25 years, I drill holes in door jams, put a factory looking plug in it , not once have I had a complaint. 😊

Before covering it with a plug, do you apply anything (ie paint, grease) to the hole to prevent rust? Or that plug helps its from rusting?

No, I have been doing this for 30 years and never had an issue with rusting.

What size hole do you usually drill?

It all depends. Always try to do the smallest possible, half inch hole for bigger things when you need to get a good rod on it.

Instead of saying “I have to drill a hole, i say “I have to manufacture access” then I charge $30 for the service. Thanks 😂Paul Kordon. Most of the time the customers ok this versus R&Iing the interior which 80% of the time is the quarter panel. No quality tech wants to do this but the fact is it can create squeaks and rattles even if we get it back in correctly, the removal can misshape the inserts due do all the “rip clips”.

@@dingking7577😂 that's a good one lol, I'm so used to R&I interiors but sometimes for saving time on both ends drilling a "Manufactured Access" point shouldn't be an issue 😅.
