A track from the soundtrack of the 1995 PC game Azrael's Tear. Written by Gentle Giant keyboard player and composer Kerry Minnear. Converted from MIDI by Anthony Bowles. Photos by Fred Rosenkamp.
Mr. Minnear is a supreme compositional talent in conception and execution. From one who has seen him live, many times, studied the scores since, hope he can find a way to stand out again. His brilliant dissonant and percussive chops come to mind, but and I speak for millions of his fans, we would savor the flavor and acquire the taste for whatever musical waters he has charted in mind. That's a promise!
I was going to have a string quartet play this at my wedding, but couldn't arrange it in time. Truly one of the loveliest pieces of music I have ever heard.
amazing journey of Kerry....he is such a passionate...amazing composer, dreamer, realizer of Divine execution! ahhhhhh! gorgeous Kerry! always creating awesome music MUSIC!
how nicely expressed, Susan! it's Kerry's birthday today. happy new year 2023 to you. surround yourself with wonderful music and worthy people. God bless
I'm an untrained musician - I don't know Chopin, Bach, Mozart, Ives...but I do know Minnear. All that I can't learn from him, I'll just sit back and listen to.
So glad he's stayed with music over the years. In the days before the internet, we didn't have an easy way to keep up with musicians, and often figured (incorrectly) that many had left music behind.
I can understand Kerry not wanting to tour, but the love of the music is still clearly there. I hope he does come up with some material for a TF album. I wonder if the Minnears would be interested in contributing?
@graceissocoollikexx Man :D tell him I love his compositions and tell him to come to Portugal (with gentle giant -> everyone). And give him a huge kiss cause he's a living legend. xD
R.I.P. That was a sad day indeed when Kerry Minnear quit playing real music and started playing bits for computer games. That was on the very same day that I took a look in the mirror and started getting old. The tears I cried that day sent me rafting out my front door in a canoe. The drama was almost unbearable. You can use these words in a song if you would just back to us, Kerry. Come back to us. Quit acting old. You've still got some humping left in you. We believe in you.
