In this video, I'll update you on all of my peach trees, especially the 3 that I have grown from seed! I'm super excited about the progress of the older one because this year will be the 2nd year it's set flowers and MAYBE sets fruits that ripen to maturity without the dreaded plum curculio this time! Most peaches grown from seed take about 3-4 years to produce flowers and fruit, and it's sure looking promising for my 2nd tree as well! I'll also update you on the other peach trees from my backyeard that are doing great (except for my Loring Peach Tree due to gummosis) and will also be a part of this series going forward. The 2 other peach trees I have started from seed are now 4 and 1/2 years old as of this video, and one is flowering as well! If you'd like to help support the channel, please check out the membership link: ru-vid.com/show-UCNA5isHAqEIalpI7ZeGL_7Qjoin Background to the Peach Trees from Seeds: I purchased a few peaches from the store and decided to try my luck at growing the peach seeds into peach trees. I used the wet paper towel and ziploc bag method to start germination. I started the peach seeds on 10/2/16). It took about 4 weeks to get these two seeds to sprout and they've been in the cups for about another 5 weeks. I apologize for not filming it from the start. The central leaders on these saplings didn't look good so I was hesitant to even do the series but I topped them to promote some side shoots and they really took off! I hope you'll enjoy this series. As a commercial peach grower pre retirement, during full dormant we pruned EVERYTHING pencil size - off, it creates better crop, as well summer prune about post harvest, Your gumoosis looks more like sunburn, PAINT your trunks, your canopy is a bit high, as well not sure where you are, but cold trunks on sunny winter days do the same, sunburn. Take a trip to a peach orchard, and look at pruning, peaches/nectarines thrive on pruning, Apricots don't. Also a bud swell stage foliar zinc really helps fruit set. And one more at first greening stage. In a zinc deficiency area, a leaf drop stage when you do leaf curl copper spray, 80-100 % leaf drop. It really helps fruit set.

What do you mean by "paint the trunk?" How and why do you do this?
@husch05
@husch05 Год назад
@@pmitch1111 That person suggested to paint the trunk to avoid having the tree getting sunburn. Have you ever seen a birch? They have these white trunks to not get sunburn, because the white bark reflects sun light and thus reduces the chance of getting sunburn. Basically, the person is said to paint the trunk in white color.

I just checked out your previous harvest video and found out you waited for the peaches to ripen on the trees, risking them being eaten by animals... So I just wanted to give a reminder that peaches ripen regardless of being on the tree/counter since all required nutrients for ripening are already inside the peach once its grown (so pick them up right away!) Fruits with thicker stalks like Pineapple and Strawberries are the ones that require to stay connected to the plant to keep ripening (with all the sweetness being transferred by that thick stalk). Can't wait to see the next progress video, these are always so relaxing to watch!

Peachy! I had to stake my orange tree. Although she is an indoor plant in a 6 gallon pail, she's getting BIG. Of course I have LED grow lights on a 12 hour timer and a regular watering/feeding schedule. Hopefully, I will get blossoms this year.

I wonder what fruit you get from it. I have six I planted 3 years ago from seed, just growing on my window indoors. I'm in Ireland so it's an incredibly slow process, haven't seen sun in a week..

Love the structure of that peach tree. Starting the branching down low like that is perfect for a nice bushy tree. Looks like spring!

My Tangelo Tree is Huge. It has to be 20 feet tall. Every Couple of years we have it trimmed. This year is going to be Epic!! There are thousands of blooms. It is a very prolific fruit producer. I found that if we leave the fruit at the top, the birds and squirrels don't bother the fruit we can reach. I give away tons of bags of fruit every year. Tangelo Muffins are really good, as are Tangelo Margaritas and Cosmos.

I'm surprised by how late yours bloom compared to mine. I had my first bloom on March 5th, and then not too long after we had the coldest temp of the year at 21.6 degrees, but somehow a lot of the flowers survived and this particular tree has probably 50 peaches forming in its first year so that's pretty exciting.
