I really enjoy Peak Design camera accessory products and I am the most ardent advocate of their camera straps they are simply awesome. For this reason I was stoked to pick up the camera capture V3 and for the first few weeks it worked a treat... but things have changed, and now it's super annoying!
Hey! My name is Corey and I am coming at you out of Wellington, New Zealand. I am a photo enthusiast and I do some pro work like real estate and weddings. I used to paint and sketch but I thought it would be easier to simply snap pictures than to paint them. How wrong was I? This photography lark is a tricky business getting it right, but is an awesome buzz all the same!
Thanks a million for watching and please like the video if it was interesting to you. Also go ahead and subscribe if you are into photography, I’ll look forward to sharing more clips soon.

I rate the Peak Design Camera Capture V3, but it does have a really frustrating tendency to bind up your camera when the metal grinds up a bit... have you had a similar experience?

The Allen key is meant to be used the other way. How did you not get that… doesn’t even make sense? Have you never used a tool before? they added the key ring so you can put it on your keys which is a smart idea.
@TheOtherPhotoGuy
@TheOtherPhotoGuy Год назад
The tool was designed to be used both ways, for reasons depending on accessibility and leverage, well before anyone drilled a hole and put a keyring in it but yep all good to have it on your keys, no pressure.

I had the same problem and I solved it quite easily by spraying teflon lubricant on it. I use teflon because it is non sticky so it doesn't pick up dirt when out and about.

I'm doing a LOT of research on the Peak Design and the Spider Holster. I'll also look into a Polar Pro version that was mentioned in the comments. I work mostly weddings, and I have a Think Tank Speed Belt V2. I really like it a lot. My camera (Nikon Z6) is on a Peak Design strap that I wear crossbody. The only time the strap is an issue is if I'm with a second shooter and I want to swap cameras with them, since they are not going to "wear" the strap crossbody, I gets in the way for them when shooting.. Not sure if my "issue" is making sense.. but it happens too often, that I feel like I need to throw money at that "issue".. So my current conundrum is trying to find something that will work with my Speed Belt, but that I also like the way it looks. I think what I may end up doing is getting a Spyder Holster system, and move my Think Tank bags to the Spyder's belt.. but I'm afraid I'll miss the cushiony feeling of the Think Tank belt

Hey mate, thanks for all the detailed information. Lately I have been shooting two bodies with a harness, it’s pretty cool at taking the weight but would be interested to try the speed belt, might have to look into that. Hey all the best with your research let me know what you come up with. I really want a multi body set up that gives quick easy access to each but keeps everything hanging tight when camera not being used

Interesting, that Think Tank product is basically a MOLLE belt for camera gear. There are lots of products out there if you search that term(MOLLE belt) with lots of cool accessories that attach securely. I actually looked into getting one at one time, but decided I didn't want to hike with a large belt. And, the belt loops of the Columbia hiking pants I normally wear aren't really designed for a belt like that. But, I really like the idea of a MOLLE system to attach other items. Cool idea!

Before watching this video, I just assumed the black painted version would have this sticking issue (just a common problem with many products I've become hyperaware of as I live by the coast). This is the primary reason for purchasing the silver V3 version!
@TheOtherPhotoGuy
@TheOtherPhotoGuy 3 года назад
Nice assumption made based on experience and environmental considerations, and that makes perfect sense! Is the silver version like anodised rather than painted? That’s an excellent point to be aware of and thanks for making it! Have a great day!
@loganhall5580
@loganhall5580 3 года назад
@@TheOtherPhotoGuy I believe so, it feels anodized… since it has a lifetime warranty, I wonder if you could ask them to swap your defective unit for the silver one!?
@TheOtherPhotoGuy
@TheOtherPhotoGuy 3 года назад
@@loganhall5580 thanks! Yeah that’s a good option also, but I was actually about to buy a second unit for another camera, as they have dropped in price around here, I will get the silver one and pick and choose where I use them, I reckon they probably would change it though…

I don`t understand the issue yes the camera is sometimes not going out as smoothly as I want but if I don't yank on it like an idiot (no front) and do it carefully it works perfectly every time...and also the capture clip is the only thing on the market that can hold your camera securely on your backpack's straps...yes there is one from Polar pro but just from the videos, I can assume that your camera could fall out because you have to rotate it to get it out instead of a pin to press...but that`s just my opinion.
@TheOtherPhotoGuy
@TheOtherPhotoGuy 3 года назад
That’s fine mate, you don’t have to understand the issue if it’s not an issue for you. I guess your first sentence suggests it snags for you too sometimes also, (unless you do it carefully). I like the product and acknowledge it’s the “only thing on the market” in its class. Have a great week and thanks for dropping in!

Hey Angela, if you get a really nice tight 10-22 and you’re doing landscape or still subject photography then that’s the one! If you’re doing any video with it then the 10-18 is the way to go with the IS on board, and you can also save some coin with this one. All the best with the decision and let me know how you got on! Have a cool weekend.

Hey, well as it recently happened again I’ve found that both pieces need to be very clean and dry to work smoothly together, moisture really binds it up and dust debris is no good. Not sure how it could be improved to make it better in more outdoor use scenarios. Hey have a great day!
