Peak Design makes a plate with a built in GoPro mount as well. They also make a "Dual Plate" that works with the Capture Clip as well as the Manfrotto RC2 quick release system...although I do like how small the PGYTech quick release base plate is compared to the Manfrotto RC2.
@smaruzzi

I own several PeakDesign, including the plate ArcaSwiss and Manfrotto compatible. That said, mounting it on a strap is quite painful, and that's why I bought several. Just ordered the PGYTech version, and hopefully it will match my expectations. Stefano

Hi, does that plate accessory you mounted on your gimbal come with the clip? If not, what is it called?

Nice review. Thinking of getting the Beetle clip now, but really like the idea of the Peak Design hand clutch strap, that is also designed to attach to the PD base plate via their anchor system. It looks like the Beetle clip plate has a similar design for attachments. Do you think this hybrid combo would be possible? I.e Beetle clip/baseplate and the PD hand clutch anchoring into the beetle baseplate? Thanks :)
@DBTRVL
@DBTRVL Год назад
Yep it’s totally possible, because that what I do. I use the Peak Design anchors and straps (leash and slide light) and they attach the same way the clutch does. As long as you attach the anchor along the back side of the plate it will clip in just fine too.

Hi! Are there any clicky sound on the pgytech system when the camera is mounted and when you start moving? Thanks in advance!

Nice comparison sir. Regarding the Beetle Clip, since it's arca-swiss compatible, would it work via an arca-swiss L-bracket that I have mounted on my camera, negating the need for that plate that comes with it? Thank you.
@DBTRVL
@DBTRVL Год назад
From my experience it only 100% works with the plates made by PGYTECH. Even the very similar Peak Design Arca Swiss plate doesn’t lock into place when used with this system. I think the L bracket would not work with this setup.

Does the Peak Design plate attach to the PGYTech snap mount? And if so, is it held securely?

How is the Peak design clip inside the PGYtech? I have several 3 Legged Thing peak design L-brackets. Wonder if they would work in the PGYtech.
@DBTRVL

It fits, but won’t securely clip in.

So has anyone attached a Pocket 3 to a beetle clip? It looks like it would work with the last clip on the PGY system with ball head design that spins so you can adjust the level of the Pocket 3.

Thanks for the review, I was looking for a comparison between these two. I head that the Beetle Clip sometimes comes off by itself so that's hindering me from buying one. Do you know if this is an actual problem and have you experienced it before?
@DBTRVL
@DBTRVL Год назад
I’ve never had it happen to me personally, but if it’s clipped too loosely the latch could come open. I make sure to latch mine really tightly. Almost to the point it’s hard to get the clasp to lock in. If you want the most secure go with the PD. Right now I just prefer to use the PGYTECH to move it quickly from bag to bag.
@jeehoonkim5429
@jeehoonkim5429 Год назад
@@DBTRVL Firstly, thank you for the reply. Secondly, yeah I think PD might be a better option for me because I am not planning to take it off my bag once i put it on. I was just considering the PGYTECH plate as it has that mechanism which prevents it from loosening. Does it actually work better than PD or is it about the same?
@jeehoonkim5429
@jeehoonkim5429 Год назад
@twig75 thank you for the insight. I will definitely take that into consideration. I probably won't ever take it off after putting it on. I was planning to just use the allen key version of the screws but if it loosens then it will be a hassle. Thanks again and happy new year!

Nice review 😉 I consider buying PGY clip but I'm worry about safety of this solution. Looks like mechanism that connects plate and clip is solid but what about safety of mounting on belt/backpack? It looks really fragile comparing to other solutions that use screws (like Peak Design). What's your opinion?
@DJ-sp5vf
@DJ-sp5vf Год назад
this is my concern. screws appears to be a safer option than the mechanism. is it also metal?
@DBTRVL
@DBTRVL Год назад
I agree. Screws are going to be more secure, but I’ve been using the PGY for around 6 months while traveling and I haven’t had any issues. I probably swap the clip from bag to bag a few times a week.

In another comment you mentioned the beetle clip broke few months ago, did that happen when camera was mounted? How did it happen? I just bought mine and waiting for delivery but now im worried to hang my expensive piece equipment knowing it could fail and drop my camera..

I was trying to attach it to a bag with thicker straps and I was applying a lot of force to try and make it close.

@DB TRVL - Broshar's Adventures thank you for the reply. It's a small relief that it didn't fail during the operation. May be I will be fine if I just don't apply too much force when putting it on the strap

This is neat. I was looking at the Beetle clip. Does the tripod plate and clip wobble when snapped into place? in other words, any play in it? I have the PD capture clip V2 and was looking to upgrade to the V3. Falcam F38 units also work and have a plate that works with PD Capture clip (limited to two ways as opposed to four when inserting) so I was thinking of going for this arrangement but if I bypass the Capture Clip V3 and go with the Beetle Clip, I can upgrade all my area mounts to the PGYTech system instead. Thank you.

I was looking ath the beatle clip as well or the falcam f38. Still unsure what i like. I was considering the falcam and just replacing the screws with something else of same threading.

I have the feeling that the solution made by peak design is a safer solution thanks to 2 securities: 1/ even if the screws become loose, the attach would not fall due to the weight of the camera 2/ when the camera is on the capture clip, even if you untighten the screws completely, you can't open the attach on the bag, without removing the camera from the clip (at minimum with the "dual plate") that's why I didn't bought the PGYtech version.... but I didn't tested it
@DBTRVL
@DBTRVL Год назад
It is safer. The PGYTECH broke at the clipping point a few months ago. The Peak Design will last a lot longer.
