I was actually born in Rio and lived there for some time. Rio is a lot more intense and has more to do. It's not that Fortaleza doesn't have activities, but Rio takes the lead. In my opinion, the beaches in Rio are more beautiful because of the mountains. However, Fortaleza also has amazing beaches with dunes and sun all year round, which Rio does not have. They both have their unique qualities. The ocean water in Rio is freezing cold, and the weather is unpredictable. Both cities have nice beaches but with different styles. Statistically, Fortaleza is more dangerous than Rio, but statistics are one thing and reality is another. If you stick to the tourist zones and nicer areas, you'll be just fine in both cities. Fortaleza is about 25% cheaper than Rio. When it comes to walkability, watch some more of my videos to get an idea of what Fortaleza is like. Thanks for watching.

Tilapia is a bottom feeder fish that used (still used in many places) to clean the bottom of fish tanks, so they end up eating a lot of left overs and waste from other fish in the tanks.

Praia de Iracema and the weather here is flaming hot. 🥵 all year round! Make sure to bring mostly light beach clothes.

It can be difficult without Portuguese, hardly anyone speaks English. Maybe have a translation app on your phone. Yes, they have Uber and Rappi. They have an app that is keeper than Uber it’s called 99pop.

December to February: Summer holidays and New Year’s celebrations. July and August: Winter school holidays, attracting both local and international tourists.

The portion of Brazil where Fortaleza is located never gets cold (closer to the Equator) and as the southern regions of Brazil gets cooler a lot of people head there when they have a time of to enjoy the sun. Think of as the Brazilian version of Spring Break or Winter Break!
