I think Pearl’s mom had a similar experience with disappointment, just without the murder. She has all those pretty dresses in the closet, after all. She had the means and desire to wear them at one point. But life stole her dream away & she blames Pearl for it. Then Pearl grows up to blame everyone else for her own misery too.
just to think that the last scene was not planned and Mia was not blinking and smiling until the credits ended..she so deserves the recognition, wonderful acting
@@thaismedeiros3022 That's not true at all. Ti West approached her with the idea the day before they filmed the scene and they decided to try it. So yeah it wasn't in the script but it was absolutely planned.
Mia goth absolutely deserves a Oscar nomination for that monologue but knowing the academy has a bias against horror what a film so gruesome deaths I can’t wait for the last of the trilogy now Maxxine loved the reaction
I don’t think it was because of her sister in law. I think it was because when she was rejected at the audition. They were looking for someone “young and blonde”
Y’all’s reactions were just as disturbed as mine. This movie was crazy. Mia Goth gave an insane performance and deserves all the awards. Her monologue was definitely one take, she killed it. Even the credits scene where they filmed her for like 3 minutes smiling and started crying.
Honestly Howard had to be as desperate for love as Pearl was seeing he stayed with her for all those years after seeing what she did ( or her loved her so much that he just accepted what she was and didn’t care)
Maybe he knew that she might kill him if he ever leaves her, so he started helping her with her kills too - given that in X, it was hinted that he KNOWS that pearl killed his sister back then
@@batool2000rox i don't think so, just if he's really dumb and weak. Like he couldn't find a way to sneak out at any moment during 50+ years? Especially considering that he's just simply stronger than her bc he's a male, he could literally smash her to death if he wanted to. He's just as crazy as she is
@@batool2000rox He was a war veteran, he wasn't scared of Pearl killing him, he could've killed her in her sleep. He truly loved her unconditionally, I think he says that he always loved her in X. Maybe the war messed him up in the head too.
Yep. But wtf is she serious? She leave farm, killed parents , leave her life for what? Because there is will be audition? So what? Who granted her she have chance to win???
@@ИванСавинов-э2д That’s the thing, you could see that she was that desperate to leave her life in the farm behind. She believed she would make it big and the first step to her dreams and the perfect life she wanted was the auditions. Sadly, that didn’t turn out well for her. Also, she’s literally insane. She was always capable of killing mercilessly right from the start (when she killed the goose just because it interrupted her moment), it was only a matter of time before she killed everyone else. I also think her mother always controlling everything was a factor.
Its funny but when i saw that cute guy in the theater approching her, i was not scared for Pearl....i was just like, oh no, he is going to die horribly.
The alligator is named 'Theda' as a reference to silent film star Theda Bara, known for playing vampires, seductresses and witchy characters, who is considered the first cinematic sex symbol.
I hope y’all didn’t stop when it said “The End” … she holds expressions for at least a couple more minutes. If no Oscar for Mia there is no justice. 🎥🎞👍
yal are so fucking fun and get immersed in a way i appreciate so much. so many reaction channels focus on the action and shock factor and gloss over the other layers. earned a sub
Pearl isn't "crazy" in the usual sense, she's a psychopath. Although she lives often in her fantasies, she is aware they are fantasy (unlike, say, a schizophrenic). She understands right from wrong and knows what she's doing, but psychopaths are narcissists, without empathy for anyone else (or very little) and will not accept any criticism or anything that threatens their image of themselves. Apparently, Howard loved her so much, he didn't care what she did, he accepted her. And because of that, he got to live.
Pearl reminds me a lot of Frankenstein's Monster in that you really have to feel sorry for her, even though she's done heinous things, yet those horrible acts were only a product of her environment and really beyond her control. I thought PEARL is an instant classic, that will put Mia Goth above all other actors in the years to come. Can't wait for MaXXXine!
I don't agree that she is a product of her environment. Her environment isn't violent, her mother is extremely controlling and cold but not physically abusive, and it's implied that Pearl was fond of her father and close to him before he had his stroke and was unable to talk.Repressive environments produce emotional problems, but not this level of deviance and dysfunction. There are all kinds of ways a person might have responded to this situation, from being meek and desperate to please the mother, or running away from home and turning to prostitution and living on the fringes of society in some way, or falling into an abusive relationship and being very dependent, or just extreme depression. Becoming a serial killer isn't the logical conclusion.
The part that pissed me off was when pearl was killing the projectionist and was like "NO ONE CAN KEEP ME ON THIS FARM" okay then LEAVE?? 💀 You killed your family, you literally have NO ONE to keep you there, so do whatever you want? And then at the end, she stayed in the farm for 61 more years But then again, she's "not well"
Where would she go? It’s set during ww1, I doubt she has much money to go anywhere. And plus Howard decided to stay, and just like Ruth, Howard was scared to give Pearl any freedom as they know how sensitive and crazy Pearl is when something doesn’t go her way.
@@batool2000rox not really. Pearl really loves Howard, and vice versa. And cause Howard knows how crazy Pearl is, he’s protecting her from the outside word. Pearl knows this and wouldn’t be able to live without Howard. Howard may be a little scared of Pearl but he’s probably a little psycho too, so honestly it’s a perfect match
@@rescune4021 i don't think so too. Howard scared her?No way. All he should do go in town "for buy" and tell someone call police because his wife shizofrenic who killed her own parents, his sister and God knows who else. He also came back on farm After Second World War, I mean he had reason. Sorry I bad in English.
The rejection hit her hard. When she is killing Mitzy she says “it’s not about what I want anymore. It’s about making the best of what I have” or something like that. That’s why she doesn’t leave the farm. She’s too scared of being rejected again, and the farm is a safe space for her where she can get away with her crazy. I think inside she knows she can’t handle the real world.
I wonder if most people in the comments are right about Howard killing because he was scared of Pearl. But idk because Howard talked about the war a lot as an old man. Seem to me like he was traumatized and still going through PTSD. So it looks like they are both going through different mental illnesses to me. But I could be wrong 🤷🏻♀️ Anyway Mia killed every scene in this movie. She is amazing!
Omg i watched your reaction to "x" like 2 days ago and then i got this. Ty for your reaction, i like pearl way more than x and i totally loved mia work and waiting for maxxine
I heard a rumor that the girl who plays pearl's mother in this movie is the same girl who was the third girl to be in a scene and X. Basically, the guy's girlfriend who decided to join the film.
Congrats!! I loved how invested you were. It's weird to me how other people laugh throughout the movie - perhaps to process what's happening, but it just doesn't click with me considering how disturbing and profound Pearl's character is. :(
As one of the people who does not dare to watch gore movies, I preferred to watch this reaction instead because I was still curious as hell about this movie. It's Tik Tok's fault lol. And based on what I've understood about this movie thru this reaction, I can see that Pearl is really sick in the head. Yes, she just wanted to be a star and her mother has been very hard on her but something's really wrong with her right from the start.
One of my most prized possessions is a few frames of film from mrs congeniality 🙌🏻 my film professor somehow ended up with a copy of the movie on film and gave me a few slides 🤗 watching her lose hers hurts my heart but i do believe it is symbolic of her dream being fleeting and running from her, being unattainable despite being given a chance
Pearl is very scary. It gives me nightmares. Why would they make this scary movie in history? They should not watch this movie. Pearl is way too much bad stuff and way. too scary. I do not like this.
Thanks, Zuff! Thanks, Rob! Thanks, Bryce! I loved ❌, I loved this one and I'm very excited to see what Mr. West and Ms. Goth do with MAXXXINE. 😱 And since y'all wondered, the internet tells me that the lifespan of an alligator could range from 30 to 50 years. 🐊 #ReelTime #TiWest #Pearl
