Peas and Cheese Casserole 350 degree oven 4 cans early peas (the tiny ones) 2 cans cream of mushroom soup Velveeta Cheese 1 cup sour cream French Fried Onion Rings
Well we finally made your peas and cheese dish. We did substitute Greek yogurt for the sour cream. We added 1/8 tsp pepper, 1/4 tsp each onion powder and garlic powder. We also added a large can of albacore tuna and a can of sliced water chestnuts. There was a little left that didn't fit the baking dish so we ate it (without the cheese) and it was marvelous. It would make a great cold dish for a summer meal. We'll be having this year round as a meal, with garlic bread. Thanks Melissa ! Need to add the yogurt made it taste lighter and refreshing.
Mind you I'm 77 years old and have never heard of this recipe til now....WOW! All the things I love to eat...trying this one absolutely for sure...great recipe and thanks for sharing!
We absolutely love peas so i dont know why ive never seen this recipe or cooked it! It sounds delicious. Thankyou for sharing it! I make a cabbage bake with cream of chicken instead of mushrooom and crushed cornflakes on top instead of the onions,
This looks so good. A welcome side to complement any meat. I've not seen early peas in a long time. I got away from buying canned. Just used fresh or frozen. I like being different at gatherings.

What would we do with out cream of mushroom soup? My favorite recipe with mushroom soup.... spray a casserole pan with cooking spray. Place chicken thighs in the casserole. Cut up slices of raw onion and spread all over the top of chicken. In another bowl mix mushroom soup, generous amounts of worschester sauce, soy sauce, pepper, seasoning salt, and garlic powder. Spread all over the top of the onions. Add one bay leaf. Bake uncovered, about 45 minutes, until onions are carmelized and chicken is done. Serve with mashed potatoes or rice. Your welcome. (Can also add a couple handfuls of sliced mushrooms.)
Hi Melissa. That looks real good. I have never had pea and cheese casserole, but mom makes something a little similar called pea salad. Has english peas, cheese, onions, boiled eggs and mayonaise I think.

I haven't either although I would like to make my own cream of mushroom soup in the future....I may do a canning video on it. I messed up a few years ago and bought low sodium cream of mushroom....ugh it was so nasty
