Potato Salad 6 large red potatoes-cubed with skin on 6 eggs 1 1/2 to 2 cups of Blue Plate mayonnaise (you may need to add more or less depending on how creamy you like your potato salad) 2 tablespoons sweet relish 4 to 5 tablespoons mustard 2 teaspoons garlic powder 2 teaspoons onion powder 1/4 teaspoon paprika 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning 1 teaspoon oregano 1 onion - small to medium chopped fine 1 stalk celery - chopped fine (I did not use celery for this video but I sometimes do add for added crunch and flavor) salt and pepper to taste Cut potatoes into bite size or slightly larger pieces. In a large pot place cut potatoes and eggs, fill with water and bring to a boil. Boil for 10 to 15 minutes. Drain. In a large bowl add drained potatoes, sliced eggs and all other ingredients combine until well incorporated. You can chill this in the fridge for about 3 hours to serve chilled or you can eat warm, it's delicious either way. Enjoy!
Hi Melissa, wonderful potato salad recipe you have there. I too love the mustard in mine our recipes are very similar except I have never used cajun seasoning before. What I do a little differently too is I take a few teaspoons of white vinegar and milk mix it together and toss it in. I like either apple cider vinegar or white works for me. Keep up the good work with "As the Rooste crows", and are you going to show us your Gumbo recipes soon?

I've never had it with the garlic and onion-sounds good though!! It's refreshing to see the unique twists you have on several dishes I'm so used to having just one way. I gotta try this. Makes good sense to boil the eggs and potatoes together-genius!!!!

The dogs love their kennels, sometimes I will look around and find joanie in her kennel snoozing, Nelly was the same way. This guy was in a backyard his whole like, the whole concept of being inside is totally new to him. He will adjust, hes a smart boy. Thanks for the comment and I'm glad the egg method helped you too!

I am happy to have this in my recipe conversion toolbelt!. Also, you probably already know but the Instantpot 5-5-5 method to cook farm fresh eggs is amazing. Devilled eggs boiled, made and in the fridge in 45 minutes. The eggs peel amazing.

Thank you! For the record, we can now walk him through the house and to be allowed outside without a leash, there are little instanced where he thinks about going after the cats but will stop himself. We never allow him to be "free" unsupervised yet, so if we are busy and cannot keep an eye on him at all times he still has to be in the kennel but he has improved 95% with the cats in just 2 1/2 months. I started watching Joe and Zachs survival a-------while back,so saw Melissa with her animals in La. Whoever says anything negative about the way Melissa treats her Bear has not watched her much. She loves her babies and would never hurt one of them. Making them mind is not being mean, it could save Bears life someday if he saw a cat across a road and ran after it. He seems to already love Joanie and he will come around. Leave Melissa alone,she knows what she is doing. You heard her say she called the rescue place and discussed it with a lady. No telling what his background is, some idiot may have let him kill cats. Bless you Melissa for giving a orphan a home!
Yes Dukes is the best we can tell the difference but still a good recipe I have never tried cajun sessions but maybe the day is today thank you for the video
Talking about my moms way. She always sprinkled paparika on top on the potato salad to make it look nice and keep the spice away from people that were afraid of spices. I sprinkle the top my potato salad with the Cajun seasoning for the same reason. I do the same with deviled eggs.

Happy Happy for this recipe and Jambalaya recipe ! You are experienced with rescues and know what you are doing. I have done the same thing when it comes to changing a dogs behavior. My rottie rescues Mason and Dixie wanted to chase and harass the cats and we did the leash and dog crate method to redirect their behavior. One thing my husband and I do when the dogs have an aggression towards the cats, is put a towel with the cats scent in the crate with them too. We have outside and inside cats. The outside cats stay in the barn.

1. both dishes looked great!! 2. People who gripe about other people's dogs in crates need to get a life 3. I've had two rotties and one doberman rotty mix. The two pure breds as you know from having them yourself can be stubborn. Our fist would try to go after the german shepard puppy we rescued. So, we used the electronic collar and a muzzle. The collar stayed on until she quit being a b**ch and we would use the muzzle if she started snapping. It allowed to her to continue to interact but not bite. In no way shape or form saying that's what you should do--as dogs are like children--raise them your way! Just sharing a success story in case you wanted to try. Thank you so much! Rotties are VERY stubborn, you cannot give them an inch or they will take a mile! We may have to graduate to the electronic collar, I'm going to give him a bit longer with the kennel but he almost got my old girl tonight, she was under his paw and luckily he was on a leash and I was able to yank him back.

I do not like mayonnaise so I use miracle whip. I add a little mustard just a bit of color and no cajun because not a fan of any spice. It looks really good though. I think you can cook anything Melissa. Chunk must learn to leave the kitty's alone and not want them for lunch. Being in a cage is not hurting him, it is a very good learning tool.
Although I’ve lived in Ga. my whole life, my family has always lived in Louisiana so I use Cajun seasoning in a lot of my recipes. 😋 This is the same mustard potato salad we make and it’s the absolute best!! I love potato salad. I always cook the eggs and potato’s together. I’ve never used Cajun seasoning,but I will now. I use Hellman’s mayo. It’s the best one offered locally. I will look online for your favorite brand and order some. Thanks for all your yummy recipes and good luck with Chunky. I’m sure he will come around. He’s just being a stubborn boy! He will get tired of being in the crate and hopefully decide to conform. Eating kitties is not nice Chunky!

chilling potatoes overnight makes them a resistant starch on Keto. I experimented with it when my scale was GLUED in one place and by gosh it worked. I also do green bananas blended into yogurt. resistant starch really helps.
Good thing cats know how to jump up high on things to get away. The Chunk looks like he could easily break out of that cage. He is cute though and Joanie has a pal now.
I thought the same thing about breaking out of his kennel but he doesn't even try. He really is a good boy, he just have to learn that cats are not edible! :)
