*Pecan Pie (United States) Recipe*
*Ingredients:*
For the Crust:
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1/4 cup ice water
For the Filling:
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
*Instructions:*
1. *Prepare the Crust:*
- In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt.
- Add the chilled, cubed butter and cut it into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together.
- Form the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
2. *Preheat the Oven:*
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
3. *Roll Out the Dough:*
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to fit a 9-inch pie dish.
- Transfer the dough to the pie dish, trim the edges, and crimp them as desired.
4. *Prepare the Filling:*
- In a large bowl, combine the corn syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, beaten eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix well.
- Stir in the pecan halves until they are evenly coated with the mixture.
5. *Assemble the Pie:*
- Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.
6. *Bake the Pie:*
- Bake in the preheated oven for 55 to 60 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.
- If the crust starts to brown too quickly, cover the edges with aluminum foil.
7. *Cool and Serve:*
- Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing.
- Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.
