The (almost) final fit-out for the Houston Gate Loco Works centre cab diesel loco. In addition to the previous modifications, the loco now has a Micron MR603 receiver/controller with P3 reprogrammed for servo output following Ch1 (motor speed). The loco now has an exhaust pipe (3D printed), a headlamp (Cambrian Models) and an air intake (white metal casting for a coach roof vent - unknown source). Peckforton Light Railway is a 45mm gauge, 15mm scale garden railway situated in Cheshire, UK representing a hypothetical 3-foot narrow gauge railway which might have been built to serve the copper mines and communities around the Peckforton Hills. Very nice, I can almost feel the vibrations from the engine.

Sounds like James, there is a reliable relief engine should one of the engines fail or have an accident. Sometimes, having an on layout relief engine is a good idea. I know I'll have one when I build my railway in future.

In my head I see under the loco is a hand cranked 2 cylinder Lister D type petrol engine, generating a whopping 8 -10 hp. Love the touch of adding the air intake.

Thanks. It's hard to see on the photo of the original whether there is one - but it sort of made sense. The exhaust is probably over the top, but it hopefully gives it a rustic feel

@@rikbennett9 apologies....I didn't realise this was based on an actual prototype

@@gs425No need to apologise. My locos are always based loosely on the originals. I call it 'modeller's licence' rather than lack of skill or patience ..... 😁

Hope that we’ll see James on the Glyn Valley Tramway coaches at some stage or maybe helping Doris at the timber mill. Fantastic little model, you’ve done really well on this - mark of a professional. Glad to see you’re uploading again and best wishes to you and your family - Alex.

Thanks Alex. Might be interesting to see this one on a rake of four wheeler coaches from time to time .....

Any particular reason you named this loco James?

Hi. I name all my diesel locos after people. Firstly it was members of the tollemache family, then it was family members. I've now started naming them after friends. James is the mate I went to India with a few years ago when we travelled on the Shimla and Darjeeling railways.
