RJ, let's be 100% honest, you can make any Joyo $19 pedal sound like a $5000 hand wired custom made dream stomp box. It's weird, I've been watching you play for so many years, you're finally getting gray brother. I've been gray for 2 decades. LOL Thanks for the demo,but whatever you play sounds like magic cuz you gots the magic fingers my man. Happy Holidays to you and yours

W0W! I don't know why I do it to the self over & over again? I haven't got a $$$ to buy pedals! However I watch ever single demo Mr Ronquillo does! Guess it the awesome playing he always produces!?

Don’t think it sounds thin or cheap. Not sure why people are saying that🤷‍♂️. Sounds great as usual like everything RJ plays

The fact that it's made by a great pedal company and played by a killer player doesn't change the fact that it sounds very thin and cheap. R.J. had to max everything to get a decent sound out of it.

Was that the audio interface or the pedal clipping? That high end sizzle is pretty nasty. No wonder everyone complains that it sounds thin.

🤨 I've been building and modifying amps and pedals for 20+ years, and repairing guitars for 25. Over the years and having handled literally hundreds of amps and thousands of guitars and pedals, I've come to understand that a lot of the divisive subjects: tone wood fretboard, finish, hand wired p2p vs PCB circuits that people dismiss as "all in your head " or placebo (that in my years I've never actually witnessed happening, honeymoon phase yes, placebo no) more often than not actually have something to them. With that said this thing seems to be one of the most naked gimmicky marketing idea I've seen in a long time. SRV played a stock Tube screamer, if there's any "magic" in it then it's present in most of the others too. I can say with confidence that of all the things that contributed to the dynamics they're talking about, the Tube screamer is likely WAY at the bottom of the list. It's going to come after things like: SRV himself, his guitar, the amps he was using, the sound guy that set everything up, etc. I think this pedal was the harbinger of peak gear absurdity that the prophecies spoke of. *(BTW, when I say "prophesy" I'm of course referring to the screen name of some random jerkoff on thegearpage. 😉)

True, as an older cat myself, I realized that no matter how cool sounding and shiney they are - especially with cats like RJ, Mike Hermanns etc demo'g them - at the end of the day its consumerism. But put these guys in a room with all the pedals they've demo'd over an 'advertising season' and they'd be hard pressed to identify most of them blind, especially the drive/distortion pedals. People gotta eat, people gotta produce and loads of people need to have the latest greatest; "have" being operative, not "need" . But hey, they're fun to look at and listen to great players demo..

Nice one. I'll stick to my old TS 808...😊
@timwhite5562
@timwhite5562 9 месяцев назад
@@tubescreamer21 and you'll probably get closer to it than anyone who buys this. The guy used it as clean boost most of the time, not an overdrive. That's why it sounded like "the most dynamic tube screamer ever," because he wasn't using it as a tube screamer. I'm usually not one to shit on the claims of one piece of gear being better at something than another, I've witnessed them being better. THIS on the other hand is ridiculous. It seems to come down to "well…yes it's just a tube screamer, but we used the caps they had on that Tuesday afternoon that SRV's was made, facing the same way relative to magnetic North as the builder did…"😮‍💨🙄 The only piece of gear I've heard recently that actually DID make the other person playing it sound like the original was when they demoed the Dumble "Manzanp" preamp and Odyssey power amp that Dumble built for Eric Johnson. It was crazy how much it sounded like Eric Johnson when he played it. But it was also THE original amp he used…and was $400k.

Weren't 80's TS9's notoriously inconsistent?
@timwhite5562
@timwhite5562 8 месяцев назад
@@ryanlittleton5615 a little, but not enough that one is going to sound "meh," and the next is going to be magic. When people talk about the old pedals that sounded different from each other, they're almost always talking about fuzz and "distortion" pedals, and this were due to the transistors. Transistors are primitive components, and slight tolerance differences can have a marked effect on the ultimate sound. Even today, pedals that use Germanium transistors (not Germanium diodes, which a lot of marketing tries to conflate the two) will sound different if the room you're in is warmer or colder. The only component on TSs that had any significant tolerance differences were the carbon comp resistors that run with 5%, they're not going to change it all that much.

Sounds like any other wanna be tube screamer. Ya wanna get closer try the maxon t9 or 808. Ya can make so many clones just throw srv in your sales pitch ta grab some sales.
@CharlesWillisBonsai
@CharlesWillisBonsai 10 месяцев назад
What a joke! Claiming they copied SRVs exact tube screamer and charging hundreds of dollars lol. I did see a picture where they got one of his tube screamers to look at, his tube screamers were stock and any parts values drift that occurred would have happened years after his passing. They'd have to take out every resistor and capacitor to measure them outside the circuit to even know if the parts drifted and you know they did no such thing lol. And the guy had more than one tube screamer. At times he ran two at once. How do they even know the one they supposedly inspected was used on what recordings or live tours? Pedal Pawn is trying to take advantage of people. What a pathetic company.
@mudgutzadventures436
@mudgutzadventures436 9 месяцев назад
So I actually know the guy who owns the TS9 they copied. It is one of SRV's and yep they're all stock. The sources he bought it through have reason to believe it ous likely to be the one he used at El Mocambo, but yep there is a lot of other things that go into a tone. Embelishing their selling point... maybe. Misleading.. I think that's a bit harsh

@@ryanlittleton5615 dunno that much about them. But just confirming that it is fact the TS9 they "copied" was one of Stevie's. I know the person it belongs to. Whether it really matters in the overall scheme of things is the $64,000 question that is argued in every guitar related post

Well I am pretty sure I won't get an answer to this but I will ask anyway, which one do you like better, bluesprint or duelist? Simple question but I haven't been able to get an answer yet.
@jessenickerson2333
@jessenickerson2333 9 месяцев назад
Get a Duellist if you're going to pay that much....this is a tubescreamer and a bluesbreaker circuit, it's been done Hundreds of times and in different tweaks. At least with the Duellist you have more tonal options. Otherwise just go and grab a tubescreamer and/or a bluesbreaker.
