The second of three PedalPCB Marshall style pedal reviews. This time its the Angry Charles. This is PedalPCB's take on the JHS Angry Charlie, a pedal attempting to recreate the sound of a Marshall JCM800 amplifier. Higher gain than the PedalPCB Van Pelt Drive (JHS Charlie Brown), this pedal uses a combination of a TL072 and LM833 op amp package, as well as, hard clipping LEDs to give you a pretty intense distortion.
This video takes you through a circuit analysis, a quick build, and a short demo.
** Note that in the circuit analysis for the second LM833, I should have also mentioned additional gain as opposed to just filtering. **

Nice! I just ordered one of these boards because it looked like a simpler circuit that I might not screw up. They way you break down the circuit might help me understand this way better than blindly assembling with no comprehension. Thank you!

Have you had a look at Trinity Amps for an amp build? He is based in Ontario.. I see from your Tim Horton’s card that’s you might be a fellow Canadian. I have built several of his amps and have just started to build some of the pedal PCB pedals and saw your build videos...

I haven't, but a friend has the twiwatt I believe. I'd love to try sometime, but nothing is free! From what I recall, my friend said the triwatt had a lot of high end. Almost too much.

Very interesting ! I,m very into amps and pedals. You should do amp builds too!!! Also build the king of tone and show how to do combined pedals. For example that pedal customized with a clean drive or treble boost in one case. I,ve been looking but no info on those kind of builds! Also give a rating on the quality of the pcb,s you use in your builds.
