He was an original. He was a comic genius. Great comedy without being vulgar. Pee Wee’s playhouse was one of the funniest shows on tv. We miss you Pee Wee.
When I first watched Pee Wee years ago, as a youngster, I didn't realize that it was all an act, I thought that this was a real person, lol. Now I realize that he was nothing short of brilliant.
This era was his zenith, the peak of his popularity and talent. He was so likable as this character, and he brought such a childlike honesty and innocence with it. It was like letting your five year old nephew take charge, so funny. What a super idea to have him guest host the show. Pee-Wee was unlike anything else, this amazing persona that Paul created. I still love it, all these years later, and I thank him sincerely for all the laughs he gave me via standup, films, stage, and television. ❤️❤️❤️👏🤩
I underestimated what a gift this comedian/ actor was. He like Don Knots had comedic charm portraying the wimpy guy with their outlandish idiosyncrasies stereotyped with the notion of that classic nerd/wimp. The person everyone desperately feared of being seen in junior high school and high school as “that guy”. Pee Wee was a modern day clown. I love it.
We had Cyndi Lauper, Michael Jackson, Prince...just for starters. A lot of very colorful personas but they were somehow so much more "real" than the plastoids that abound today. I can't explain why - maybe because they were truly original back then. But it was definitely a great time to be 20-something and just living. 👍
Oh man! We were celebrating the Victorian era, the jazz age, the golden age of Hollywood, the 50s, the 60s, Woodstock, the emergence of video technolgy, the reunification of some countries, and the independence of others, the open discussion of social injustice, the freedom to be you and me. But let's not forget Rodney King.
The internet is amazing, I didnt know how big Pee Wee was as a kid and thought he specifically played it for kids on his show and Big Adventure. Thanks to old footage like this we can appreciate this man so much more beyond that. RIP Paul Reuben
Wow, he invented this character and just blew the top off with this genius move. Hard to believe he is now gone. You now are the luckiest boy in the world goodbye peewee, goodbye…..
Brilliant! Paul Reubens turned a bedroom character into a career. His writing and performing skills were superb. Too bad one instance of poor judgement derailed his remarkable career. But he got it back on the tracks by holding his head (no pun intended) up high, admitting he made a mistake, and revealing the man behind the character. RIP.
@@jedijones you're right, F. Lee Bailey. Paul was in that porn movie theater doing hand puppet research. My sincere apologies. Haha! In fact, Reubens pleaded no contest because he would otherwise have gone to trial basing his entire defense on a technicality. Reubens was a brilliant comedian and he seems to have been a very nice guy, too. But he got caught doing something almost every man has done at least a hundred times in his life - because he did it in public.
@@richardbrucemusic Public, LOL. I can go in a strip club and see girls doing more explicit stuff than that and no one ever got arrested. It should be up to the owner of the theater whether they allow the activity or not.
@@jedijones good points, except that men AND women also get arrested in strip clubs for acts that exceed what is permitted by law. I'm not going to continue to argue this issue with you because it's a waste of time.
When Paul presented the stage band led by Mark Hudson...I could practically feel the neurons in my head assigned to memory of "The Hudson Brothers" creak, grind and groan.
This was Paul's talk show debut and he did it perfectly and he should have continued this amazing job as being a talk show host another career opportunity in his long standing career as a actor singer comedian writer creator talk show host dancer and the greatest Hollywood best friend of all time you will be missed RIP Paul Reubens aka pee wee Herman the greatest Hollywood legend of all time ❤ ❤❤❤😎😎😎😎
Even though he co hosted for Joan this would have been a great pilot episode for the pee wee Herman talk show or the Paul Reubens talk show and Joan would have loved it RIP Paul and Joan
Pee Wee interviewing Susanne Sommers was one of the most entertaining things I ever saw - possibly from this show - I hope it turns up some day on You Tube; I would love to see it again !
The last of the real true authentic character comedians. Going back to watch his stuff I appreciate the art even more. Better then todays comedy where people bash one another and and use to much profanity as part of the joke . Bring back real comedy, bring back Pee Wee.
@PeeWeeChic1 Milton and Judy were/are phenomenal. Apparently, they were an absolute riot, there are war stories about his dad (he flew combat missions in two wars) that are absolutely hysterical. (That apple--Paul--sure didn't fall far from the tree. LMFAO.) His dad unfortunately passed away from cancer in 2004 -- with Paul taking care of him in the months before he died. Judy is still with us. PS, I like his hands, too. LOL.
I remember him in an interview saying that he gets nervous but once he gets into the Peewee character he can kind of run with it. It's like he has an escape...good for him!
so faved this vid! OMG squeed the whole time ♥ Pee-wee♥ 3:53 ha ha LOLed so hard! thank you for uploading oh please please keep it up here, need to watch this again 100 times^^
I've been looking for this show for awhile.....especially when Pee Wee talks gibberish Spanish to the pizza delivery guy..... Too bad that part is not available ☹️
I can't find that either. I do remember that one with Pee Wee making a phone call, I think that was further along in this episode but I only have the opening..sorry.
