@@bjoernpagaming2485 I don’t know myself, but I think you have to end the run and view the run summary for it to be unlocked. I have the switch version, so there may be discrepancies, but I believe that’s how it should work.

That also means you can die after picking it if you just want the unlock

He actually gets even more Ballwark from it than that - he gets an additional 2 ballwark from the oil whenever it activates, meaning that taking 3 health in self-damage from a red bomb gives 8 Ballwark, and the next red bomb to deal HP damage deals one point and generates 4 Ballwark, causing the third bomb that does self-damage to deal 2 damage and generate 6 Ballwark, which works out to gaining 18 Ballwark for every 6 HP lost to red bombs during a bomb volley, or in other words it actually cuts the HP loss by 75%.

Unless a fight goes super long, it's effectively "odd shots pierce one extra enemy" (you're trading the buff on the first shot for a buff to the second). It only starts falling behind when you need 9+ shots, and only really starts falling apart at 24+ shots (since 25 and 27 are composite), and I'd be VERY surprised if piercing still matters that far into a fight.
