The mod to the floor complete with on the fly casting deck is top notch among a lot of mods I have seen in these RU-vid's I am for sure going to do that.
One thing I’m thinking of doing is using some PVC or square metal tubing for a overhead frame and put a couple solar panels to keep the battery charged.
Really nice video . I have a bass hunter solo 1 person boat. Not really much space in it. Just enough for a battery and a trolling motor ,it's only 6 ft long, and it doesn't carry much weight.Your video gave me some great ideas
Awesome boat and upgrades! Lots of great ideas, I’m gonna borrow a few of your upgrade ideas for my WaterQuest 10.2 that I’m about to start working on. Thanks for sharing
I have a Pelican Raider also I did a lot of mods to mine . But I like the idea of the raised platform for Fly Fishing I too fly fish but haven`t done it out of my Pelican .
Best Raider mod video so far. I get a kick out of the guys who say they don't want to put "holes" in their boat !!!! .....what size seat riser 7" or 13" ?
Awesome vid, gave me a lot of ideas. just bought an old used basshunter 8' Thanks for sharing, i now have some idea of how to deal with a boat that has no visible way of attaching things lol. I really liked the rudder idea, didnt think of that, should improve control with my tr up front fishing alone. lookin forward to more of your vids..ken...ca delta
Rudder makes a huge difference...I have fished without it and it bout ruined my trip. You're always jackin with the trolling motor and swingin for no reason. Definitely a must have in my opinion.
Concord Roofer I too just bought an older Bass Hunter Striker 8 footer. What mods have you done to yours? Any tips for a first time owner of one of these?
so does the seat riser make it less stable...more tippy in yoir opinion? I read some other guys trying to dissuade a a guy from building the casting deck because they were worried about stability as well. I really like the deck and want to make it anyway. I measured and figured the best dimensions were 20'×28'. is that what you used? What kind of screws did you use for mounting the rod holders, etc? thanks.
Your pontoon is well equipped. CONGRATULATIONS on the setup. I look forward to getting one soon. Thanks for the ideas on mods. I already have the Harbor Freight trailer! I am thinking on an aluminum roof made of a few solar panels to keep the batteries charged on sunnier days. Do you have any ideas on a possible setup diagram? Thanks for any additional ideas.
Great video and good looking boat. I recently purchased a Quest Angler 10' boat and wanted to know what materials you used when screwing your components onto the boat? I have researched this but there are no videos out to educate people on how to properly mount parts onto your plastic boat. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
I hope you don’t mind if I copy everything you did! I’m not sure about the drain hole idea, but I guess the transoms just aren’t strong enough for the type of torque a pole anchor supply’s. Really strong set up you have, maybe the best.
Nice mods, gotta love these little boats. was thinking of using a stake out pole, through a hole in the floor. Do you know the exact type fitting you use for the plug / through hull for the pole. Thinking of putting 2 in, one front and back. any problems with the fitting leaking while using the pole though ? Again, nice work!
So, $!: how much is everything so far, you know, boat + everything you've bought for it so far? And thanks for the idea! I've been mulling over things I would need for my next project; I'm working on a canoe rig for scootin' up & down the Susquehanna & Chenango to go after smallies and muskies that will be pretty much "powerless & wireless" and your fiberglass pole setup just basically filled in the power pole aspect (both rivers tend to run >10' in my region from early summer to late fall). All I need is a pole, a mounted slot for it, and a mallet and I'm set for stationary casting! Outta curiosity, how deep do you need to set your anker pole for semi-still water, and for slow to moderate water flow for the pole to keep ya stuck??
Excellent video and great ideas! I will try some of these on my Pelican for sure. I want to try the deck for the bottom. Check out my mods (not as good as yours) if you get some time. The pole idea and magnets also great. I wanted to try the risers on the seats but was not sure about stability. Any issues with that sitting up higher? Fish on!
No issues sitting up higher however I would look for 3-5" risers if you can find them...7 works just fine but I think a few inches less would be perfect.
Do you use a winch to load the boat from the water? I got a similar setup on a Northern tool trailer and I find the tilting function useful when launching into the water but the A frame is difficult for mounting a winch. I prefer the straight type more room and options for mounting things.
Did you add a mount for an anchor? Just got mine today and diving into personalizing. Did it matter which grade silicone you used? Wife thought I was getting a "Pontoon" boat (seats 12). HA. This is a fishing boat. Not party boat. TNX
Do you get in trouble if you put that paddle or long PVC pole infront of the registration numbers? I want to put both of those on mine but don't want to risk being cited. Im in Texas.
I started out with a 1 inch spade bit. Straight through. A TON of marine grade sealant and a no reversible two piece drain. Bought it at Academy for 4 bucks. You're going to have to shave both pieces down because the hull and deck are very close together....about 1/2 an inch so it take some workin....
Fish On! I pulled the trigger on Monday morning and bought the Pelican Bass Raider 10e at Dunhams. Took it out and have to say I'm really impressed. I was able to stand and move fairly easily. It will definitely work for me.
Ok so first thing is drill about a 3/4" hole at the back and at the front. Then I took a nut and tied a 15' piece of braid to it. Stick the nut in one of the holes and use a magnet to capture it through the hull. Carefully "walk" that nut down the top part of the pontoon all the way to the other hole. You will have some difficulty doing this but it can be done. I did it twice with my TM and FF. Once you get it out the other hole, tie that braid to your power cable for the TM and pull it back through to the original hole. I finished with a rubber grommet siliconed over each hole. When I make an update video I will go ove this in a little more detail.
urtypicalguy he tied a nut to a heavy string and guided from hole to hole with a magnet then tied the string to the trolling motor wire or fish finder wire and pulled it back through.
I store mine in the backyard too it’s a bit heavy to pull the boat and trailer by the jack handle but it can be managed with one person with my aluminum framed 4x8 utility trailer with plywood decking. If you want your grass just make sure once in position don’t move the jack wheel back and forth it will tare your lawn.
Awesome vid on the bass raider. This thing is super nice. I just finished doing some custom mods to a pelican predator to bring out its features and get better fishing out of it. Come check it out on my page. Thanks
William White I own a 10E. It’s an extremely stable boat. I have a spotlock bow mounted motor on mine; and I can stand and fish no problem in 20-25 winds on the lake.
