Great reaction. Loved the kiss. I didn't see it as her begging for a kiss in a pathetic way. I saw it as her being incredibly brave and for once asking for what she needs. She doesn't think it'll lead to anything and she doesn't think he's interested in her, but she trusts him and wants that experience once in her life. We hear in the Whistledown voiceover that after this she is going to retreat in to the shadows, so I thought it took alot of courage, especially as she probbaly thinks it may cause him to stop being her friend too. It's not about Colin really. It's about her having that experience just once in her life and being brave enough to ask.

Her asking for a kiss was two things: the only male friend that she can ask, trusts to have that experience, because Portia had just told her she's basically unlovable, and her letting go of Colin. Of her hopes for him to love her back. I think it was beautiful and what she didn't realize is that he FELT IT. And as for LW, everything said was actually true. He is pretending to be something he is not to please society expectations and Anthony's. Anthony basically told him to stop being so soft, go to brothels and praised him for being surrounded by women now. But that's not Colin...he's soft and sensitive.

I loved this Kiss. It's kind of a good bye for Pen. She is giving up on Hope and this love she has for him. And It's a moment of Clarity for Colin, because he realizes there's more to his affection for Pen than Just friendship. I think It's kind of beautiful how from now on they Will be changing places.

Idk I think it was kind of empowering. She was feeling bad and she’s normally so easily flustered by men but even at her lowest she knew what she wanted and she asked for it. And Colin who in prior seasons wouldn’t even kiss marina when they were courting kissed Pen bc she means so much to him and he wants to give her what she needs.

Colin Bridgerton, confirmed demisexual with that one kiss.

Jsyk, Pen asks for the kiss in the book too. Think of it as bittersweet. She is both beyond hope, but is also in a place where she can finally ask for what she really wants. There’s a reckless power in desperation.

The Whistledown critique of Colin wasn’t that bad in an absolute/objective sense, but he’s super pissed because she’s calling out his façade. At that point I think we’re really meant to feel like no one else in the Ton hates Whistledown more than Colin. 😬
