In Season 3 of Penny Dreadful, Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) accepting her demons could exact a terrible cost and plunge the world into darkness, while Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett), Dr. Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway), Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney), Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton), the Creature, and Lily (Billie Piper) must each face their own monstrous selves.

What a phenomenal idea to recreate classic horror with modern day sophistication. Best casting, best acting, best set production I've ever seen. If only there were more seasons to come.

Rory Kinnear is soo amazing in the series. He gives such life to the character. Actually this show has one of the best cast ever.

totally agree! I guess noone else could reach that level of emotion. Kinnear is a great actor and Mr. Clare is a perfect character. And when you think it couldn't get better, it comes that episode The Padded Cell

Only if there had been more to come.... Vanessa could have still passed away, or stayed dead or in between worlds... and appeared in another form, so she was still guiding Malcolm and Chandler and Victor in their new quests. One more season... though three is a special number, there was such a growth in this story and so many unanswered questions. So disappointing to see this incredible show end with so much future potential to go. SHAME ON SHOWTIME. SHAME ON ANYONE WHO CHOSE TO WATCH REALITY SHOWS. WHO WANTS TO STAY IN REALITY ANYWAYS?!

100% Agree! I can confidently say that this is my favorite show of all time. I even cried when i saw Series Finale and not season finale. This show has the power to make feel things i never felt before. An amazing potpourri of old nostalgia, excitement, trill, and euphoria. Every Sunday night i was glued to the tv, and wishing the episode to never end, specially season 2. I bought all the 3 seasons in DVD and already watched it 2 times back to back (Penny Dreadful, on a cold snowy or rainy twilight day under a comfy blanket drinking hot chocolate or camomile tea with some Cumberland Farm chocolate chip cookies, or pastries and some magnum white chocolate vanilla ice cream.....is my heaven on earth moment. Pure ecstasy!)

It was Game of Thrones that drew fans away. But Logan said nobody wanted a S4 anyway. They had other projects in the works. I think Logan ended it beautifully.

Hands down - Penny Dreadful with the story line and all of its characters, gothic poetry, synchronization with the 19th century atmosphere combined with historical notorious characters is by far my favorite show. There is truly not just one genre which fits to explain this work of art. My other top two are Deadwood and Rome - because of the sets, characters, stories and historical elements. I wish I could buy the books!! If only...I'm longing...

The cast is so phenomenal! I am totally gobsmacked at every single one-from primary all the way down! And the brilliance of this show doesn’t stop there, it continues to build with every layer! The imagery is breathtaking, they seriously took no shortcuts, and choices made with the camera, and the writing, and so on and so on! My favorite part is when “John Clare’s” captor says that he wanted to include Pandora’s Box in his Horror Exhibit, but he didn’t know how to capture the world’s evil in one box, and Clare says, he knows how- with a mirror. Such a beautiful show! I’m so sad to know that there only 3 seasons. Showtime certainly didn’t market this show as much as it deserved!

Logan planned 3 years. The cast signed on for 3 (other projects in the works). I think Logan ended it perfectly. Without Vanessa the story has no place to go. An attempted sequel w/out Logan and actors flopped.

This was one of my favorite shows. It's the kinda show, even if you knew every line from each character, you still go back and watch it again. It's just that damn good. Eva Green, whew, what a fucking actress. Just love her. Whatever she plays, she brings that character to life, full 360 degrees!!!

I don’t think fans understood Logan and cast only committed to 3 years. They all had other projects lined up at end of S2. See print interviews with Logan. An attempt at a sequel was cancelled before it ended, it was that bad. Without Logan’s screenplay and characters it fell flat.

It was set in London but then they went on that bizarre travel trip to the United States to follow that silly werewolf plotline. That's when the series stumbled if you ask me. There aren't too many fans of the gothic who really want to see the old west.

I would love Penny Dreadful could have infinite episodes, but it's a master piece which has to have an end. And the end couldn't be more beautiful. Although I find 3 seasons is few, at the same time 3 is the perfect number of a master piece. And it has let us with a need for more, which means it wasn't a bit boring at all. I watch it again, watch scenes in youtube, listen to the soundtrack, which brings me bak all the feel... this is how I find my reencounter
