Really great review. Your editing and quality is absolutely amazing.

Hey whats up Skye, thanks, Ive been self teaching myself to edit for a few years now and it usually takes me a few weeks to make time to shoot all the footage and produce it. probably not smart in the long run but I prefer the look of these compared to my older simple unedited stuff. your dad is real cool I saw your vid teaching him to skate, he was smart to take it slow, it feels weird standing on a board with wheels the first time.

they wouldnt sponsor a longboarder that was doing handrails and kick flipping ten stairs hell, i could switch 180 ten stairs. could even keep up with pro skaters in a game of skate. on a 45 inch longboard. that andy anderson shit wasnt marketable many year ago. they wanted to see me doing slides down hills and carving.... i coulda been andy anderson, and more importantly, their TEAM could have had an andy anderson.

@Raychristofer
@Raychristofer 6 лет назад
xXspectre170Xx I mentioned to Landyachtz I would like to do a comparison between the dingy and tugboat. If you look close at all the tugboats there's three different board dimensions , the 80s wide pool version. The original one is 9.25 in wide but the most recent one with the Pug on it is a little narrower at 9 in
@xXspectre170Xx
@xXspectre170Xx 6 лет назад
I like how the tugboat is a little longer than the dinghy, but its still a good size to travel with. I'm thinking about getting the hatchet later down the line.

the reason that the dinghy has the cushioned grip is because people aren’t using them for flip tricks/ollie’s. The cushion makes it less responsive when you drag your foot. i’ve used a non abrasive grip dinghy and it’s hard to ollie.
@Raychristofer
@Raychristofer 7 лет назад
Savten Thanks for that insight, since I can't Ollie yet it's good to know. My son also says the tiny lip at the front makes it harder to catch the board on the slide up for Ollie as well. Appreciate the comment.

Gas thank you and because of that if I had merch I would send you a case of gear to deck you out lol. I dedicate this video to you. Hey one thing I have to mention is some of the same boards at landyachtz come in two different size wheels some come with 60 mmm for like skatepark type tricks and others come with the larger 63 mm for cruising, I always recommend getting the 63 as they roll smoothly over bumps and stuff. Good lookin out

Hey thanks so much I love hearing comments from my viewers. The crazy thing is my channel is a photography channel but this is the most popular video I have it just hit over 100,000 views which is ridiculous lol. I don't know if you saw but I did a follow-up review with the Dinghy versus the tugboat and I still choose to ride the dinghy 90% of the time. Michael Rickicki my man if you've mastered riding a penny in New York if you get hold of a dinghy the police are going to be giving you speeding tickets but only if they can catch you because it's more solid and responsive and you can actually stand with two feet on it. One of the 2018 models have smaller 60 mm Wheels I recommend getting the old school versions with 63 mm it will be better on the rough asphalt. Great review! Thanks for posting it. The Dinghy is an awesome cruiser board, no doubt. But one thing I really like about the Penny Nickel board is that it closely resembles the boards that people rode in socal back in the 70s when pool skating was born. It's a cool feeling to ride something that pays homage to that kind of old school skateboarding. Best regards from Brasilia, Brazil.

But when I went to Zumies, it was no question I was leaving with a dinghy. I think it the best mix between a classic skateboard and a longboard. My homeboy can Ollie my board atleast 2 feet. Had my Dinghy for almost a week now and it blows both my $20 Ebay penny and $50 Target Kryptonics board out of the water. It cruises so fast and stable on my shitty road and sidewalk pavement and has above average carving. Size is almost perfect too. Glad I considered this over a longboard. Greetings from Europe - just bought the newest Dinghy with the wider nose to compare it with my favourite Board, the Sector 9 Roshambo, which is really awesome and to which I came after checking out a bunch of boards over the last years. I like to go for long distances and explore unknown places, sometimes using the board together with public transport, which is a big advantage of boards due to their lightness. Generally, I think, there is a high percentage of personal preference when it comes down to the question what is a good board, although there are obvious differences in quality. What I mean is, for example, some like more flat boards, others more concave, or wider or smaller decks, or longer or shorter. The same it is with the trucks. I tried a dozen over the years, and for me ultimatively the best are Independents, but I never would say them to be the best for everyone. Therefore, I put Independents on the Roshambo and on the new Dinghy (model Gin Tonic), and on both I use the same wheels, too, so the comparison can sure be done focused on the decks and their differences. I love this, and it's such a great pleasure. I ride a lot, all seasons, even in winter and in rain.

Hello my man thanks for stopping by and leaving that killer comment. @@Raychristofer Hello Ray, it is very nice that you write back that immidiately - my name is Fred and I'm from the western mountain region of Austria (Tyrol), had my childhood there, but now I'm living in Vienna for some years and reasons together with my girlfriend, who is also from the west, but we will both return. In the meantime, there are of course a lot of aspects one can enjoy in a big city, for example, as I wrote, the exploring of urban areas with the board. As far as I know Florida is a sunny region, but we here have very different seasons, and for me liking skating / cruising so much, I don't want being interrupted by fall or winter :-))) Seven years ago, I passed a boardshop, seeing some decks behind the windows and just for fun and interest entered the lot; the staff astonishingly offered me to take a board of my choice for a trip around the hood, which I happily agreed to, asking, if they are not afraid of never seeing me and the board again. Indeed, I returned and bought it - a Loaded Dervish Sama - and tought myself over the next weeks. Being some kind of used to and with more sensible feelings, I came to what I wrote, searching and finding deckshapes just for me. I got increasingly smaller, lighter, shorter with the boards, which offers more flexibility in a city - not only cause of narrow turns, but also for pedestrian-slalom and carrying and storing in public transports. Vienna is a beautiful city with a lot of different areas; we have a big river, the Danube, and within is an island where you can cruise in total nature. Bridges and other cool stuff similar to what you showed we have many, and I like riding those. There are a bulk of big, long bridges with a hanged down slope for pedestrians and bicyclists under the tracks for cars, and you access this platforms by a corcscrewer-like ascent, looking down at the big river while crossing it. Sometimes, I make 20-30 km trips. Hardly to find something more beautiful except women and good friends. How is the situation for you in Florida? Can you just put down your board outside your house and start cruising? I Best regards and greetings from Vienna - hope to read from you! Fred

@@Raychristofer Hi Ray, California I guess commonly is known as a hot region with deserts and beaches, but I remember, in school we learnt there to be very high mountains, too - so, yes, if you hike or climb there, this should be similar to Austria. Maybe one different thing is, that in my country the mountains are settled and farmed over thousands of years and there is a rich culture with this. My family's roots are such, also; our ancestors owned a mountain-farmhouse (this should be the translation for our word "Bergbauernhof"), but it burnt many years ago. Your wife did not make the worst decision with planning to visit Vienna, I don't think there is any possibility to do wrong for Vienna (and Austria) has a lot of everything for everyone: Mountains, lakes, forests, an old culture and history, theatres, tradition in worldwide known music, sports of any kind... and yes, this man Adolf owned such a location, I think, you mean the spot Obersalzberg, which is in Bavaria / Germany. By the way, you owning a Penny: I tried one of them, too, but didn't like it too much even and changed to the really amazing (!!) Bananaboard. The latter one is better in every aspect, even the grip (with raised circles) and the whole shape of the deck. For me, the deck of the Penny was convex, so I always slipped forwards - as the grip is bad - but the Banana is concave and you do not slip forward. I had some talks with friends about this and made a deeper comparison - if you are interested, I'll post it to you. If you want to provide a plastic deck for your daughter I recommend the Banana and selling the Penny as I did. The Banana is still in my quiver; it is good for winter (deck gets no moist-problems) and if you want it more for transport in the city (it is smaller as my Roshambo and 2019-Dinghy). Greetings from Austria! Have a nice day!

Congrats on such an enjoyable review bro... I ended having both Dinghy and Penny Nickel. Dinghy is the "superior" one for faster rides while Penny is the "no worries" option for easy rides. Because it's plastic (and costs less than half of the Dinghy here) I don't have to worry about water, grip tape irritation, and leaving it in my car 24/7... but it still feels quality under the feet. Good comparison and info. Thank you, Ray. My 1 question for you is, however, what do you consider "heavier riders"? The weight limit for the Penny is 220 lbs. Do you think that the increased flex in the board and increased "Gs" going into turns lower your center of gravity, and help with traction and handling? Just curious. Thank you again, Ray.

nasaman23 thank you nas I really appreciate it, I'm a big guy too I'm about 250 and six foot tall also and me and you are in the same boat, I've been talking to Landyachtz seeing if I could get them to send me one to review but they dont do that. If you think the dinghy may be too small the tug makes more sense. Strange thing about the tugboat is there's like three different boards that they use for it, it's 30 inches long some boards on 9 inch wide While others are 9.25 wide. the Bigfoot model is the original shape and size that I like and that's the one I may get. The way the trucks are tuned out the box is pretty perfect in my opinion I didn't feel the need to change bushings I only tightened up the back trucks because I was getting some wheel bite and I put some very thin risers on it. I appreciate you taking the time to comment because believe me it took probably over a week to shoot an edit that thing LOL

Hell, I barely ride the longboard or the popsicle board anymore because I have way too much fun on the dinghy. If you turn your body correctly while turning you can go down INSANE hills because you can basically do quick 90deg carves without thinking about it. Gonna pick up a penny 27" board here soon because I'm in the PNW and it's getting to be rainy season. Gonna use a buddy's lathe to put some grooves in some fatty hawgs(to help prevent hydroplaning), throw in ceramic bearings, probably some grip tape, and use it to skate when it's wet.

I needed this video as I was so set on penny but then I bought something different at skate shop he recommend the 28 inch Rad roller cruiser board and this confirmed that I think I’m more confident that I bought thta it’s worth mentioning I’m a first time skater. Thank you so much! If there’s any personal recomentaions you can make I would be so greatful

Felt like you at the beginning of my penny journey, but I'm riding circles around my friends! 😄 But I also wanna get a Dingy/Tugboat soon. Thanks for the review.👌 Edit: I slapped some griptape on my Nickle. ^_^

Whaaat. that's what's up thanks for checking this out and commenting. I always like to talk to those who actually have experience with the product. I almost want to challenge you to shoot a video of your experience using the boards as well but most folks don't want to.

Again. Great video! It's so rare to see professionally looking video's and opinions by adults... Most reviewers are younger and less well-spoken... not to diss young reviewers... but it's something that comes with age. I like how you detail things out! Also, most 30+ people with children, like myself, are weighing a lot more than most kids reviewing long- and skateboards. It's nice to hear an opinion from an older skater with a recognisable life situation. Props! Now I want a Dinghy even more! :-p

Bart De Vuyst thanks for taking the time to check it out to Bart. I'm going to tell you a secret I've never told anyone before but I made this video because I wanted it to be one of the best skateboard reviews I could produce and to tell you the truth I wanted to see if I can become the oldest sponsored skateboarder LOL. I'm 45 I guess you could call this my demo tape. What do you ride by the way?

At 37 I'm a beginner skateboarder. My oldest son started longboarding at age six and looking at the pure joy of riding convinced me to start too. I enjoy cruising and taking hour long rides... just the pleasure of the countryside. I've only been riding for about a year and a half and prefer longer boards because of the increased stability but I'm looking for a shorter board with a shorter turn radius. I have a low cost 40" pintail by Globe with some upgrades that I like lot. Next are three Landyachtz boards that I got in a sale (I like the company). A drop-through NineTwoFive that sits nice and low. A 40" bamboo Hatchet, and a 37" Maple Ripper that I don't like because it turns like a boat. I don't know what it is with that last board, maybe it's the Bear 852 trucks on it or something. I tried better bushings for my weight but it still turns very weirdly. The Ripper sits very high with the stock 70mm wheels. I might try smaller wheels. Thanks for your time! And keep up the skateboard video's! I enjoy them a lot.

My nickel board with parish trucks and bigger wheels is the best. Stable and I added nice grip tape it’s literally the best of both worlds !

was it difficult to get the grip tape on with the waffle imprint on the penny board? how’d you do it
@insanogeddon

Penny flex adds suspension, good to go and griptape adds issues: pain to clean, rips fingers and scratches clothes/packs/WATCHES/bystanders nevermind tape maintenance or waterlogging - landyachtz doesn't know what it is trying to be a popsicle board with a CRAZY price. Children are stealth geniuses trust them over ego = fun first, no hassles ; j

if you put another pair of spacers you can put bigger wheeles on the tugboat it will be a little higher off the ground by the way so you'le probrably need to get yoused to that

Very true, one thing I did not know when I shot this video was this black tugboat model is the only tugboat version with the smaller wheels, they particularly made it for skate parks and bowls, all the other tugboats do have standard 63mm. The spacers yes that's something I forgot to mention in the vid. But if you have to buy larger wheels it puts everything in a larger tax bracket too
