"Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" it has no words. You have heard it. Is from "The Nutcracker " is quite unusual. But speaking about excellence ? That is one! Is short and sweet but best of all... Got them a Grammy!
All Pentaholics agree that all Christmas songs are better when PTX sings them, and though we are definitely biased, I genuinely believe it's the truth. Definitely do 12 Days of Christmas, you'll enjoy that one for sure 😁
I listen to the Trifecta Acapella of Christmas (PTX, Home Free, And Voiceplay) cause each group is unique in their own way but the one thing that’s in common with all three is giving us goosebumps from the bass and the feels.
They are such a super talented in creativity...here's a Xmas surprise for you, when you react to an old, tired Xmas song...."12 Days of Xmas" !! You will be AMAZED !!
Interesting fact: This was recorded in the Batcave of the original Batman TV Show from the 1960's. It's in Griffith Park in Los Angeles and home to the LA Zoo, Observatory and of course the HOLLYWOOD sign. It's great to hear Kevin sing a verse, he also sings in "The Prayer", "I just called to say I Love you" and a surprise ending for one video.
I love the way PTX did this song!! All of their Christmas music is great! God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, The Little Drummer Boy, Mr. Grinch, My Favorite Things and Joyful Joyful are all really awesome and more upbeat Christmas songs from them.
"12 Days of Christmas" is one of those bops you will enjoy. "O Come, All Ye Faithful" was full of energy, freshness, and for lack of a better term, chutzpah. "12 Days of Christmas" has ALL of that too, but also a little surprise for you after the fifth verse that will just blow you away. "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" showcases Matt, and contains a lot of fun background vocalizations, expressions, and sound effects. "Deck the Halls" is another jam that'll get your heart pumping. "Carol of the Bells" is quite simply flawless. And "Little Drummer Boy" is insanely good. I love how you appreciate the fact that the slower carols have their place and showcase their vocals, and you are absolutely correct when you predict that you'll enjoy every single PTX Christmas song. I'm here for it. Oh! Before I forget, "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" is just plain BONKERS. Strap yourself to your chair or else you might fall out of it! Obviously there are a ton more, but those are some of my favorites.
Bravo for featuring PTX this December. In the seventy-odd years I have been hearing Christmas music the only other time I can recall a group doing a startlingly new take on them was Alvin and the Chipmunks, but PTX is much more enjoyable.
I LOVE Mary did you know! I didn't know the song, until I heard Pentatonix sing it (I'm not from an English-speaking country) and it just captured my heart. ❤️ Their version of The Prayer is also phenomenal! (Prepare to get Mitch-slaped big time on that one. 😜)
Well, in my opinion, you started with (arguably) their best Christmas song with Oh Come All Ye Faithful. But there are many to come that you'll love. They Carol of the Bells and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies along with all the others I see from your comments
I'm with you. I find that I usually like the acapella arrangement and performance over the originals, whether it's Pentatonix, Home Free, VoicePlay, or Voctave. There's something about it. Thanks for the breakdown. And what a treat. One of the rare occurrences where the beatboxer sings. Merry Christmas to us!
As others have said, you should absolutely check out their 12 Days Of Christmas (you'll love it!!), Carol Of the Bells, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, and Joyful Joyful (the live recording from their Evergreen tour 2021!!).
Love the reaction. No matter how many times I hear this song I get Chills Chills Chills. I think you'd really like their upgrade of 12 Days of Christmas. Looking forward to more PTX Christmas reactions. Have a great day!
Sean, any you do on Christmas will be okay with us! And if you watch a concert version see if you can find out official video also the concert versions are great but their official videos are great too an example the concert of my favorite things and the official video are both great but the official video is wild! And just as an FYI the cave they were singing in on Mary did you know was originally used in the '60s version of The Batman series as the batcave. Keep up the awesome reactions!
This was great. Big news, I heard Little Drummer Boy by PENTATONIX on Christmas radio. There was all this non-ptx Christmas music playing. Then out of the blue, their magic was being played by a local radio station. It was Christmas radio, but still. How cool is that? If you want something fun? Do a reaction to Mr Grinch. Do the official video 1st. But then, you HAVE to see them do it live from the Evergreen tour. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f7Df78aVFCI.html It's simply the BEST THING I have seen in a really looooong time. Matt leads it with nearly a Broadway flair. It's just wonderful. You probably can't tell. I liked it ALOT. Take care and be safe until I see you again. As always, hope and joy to all. Don't forget to pass it on. =^;^=
This song was just an exercise in vocal perfection as most of Pentatonix is. What I liked about Kevin's part was that he really knows how to create tension by doubling the time of his kicks just before the climax or the bass drop or whatever it is that is coming. And can we just talk about how well Scott and Avi's part was? Both of them have beautiful voices but when they sing together with that particular harmony, it just melts me. I can't wait for you to get more into their Christmas music! I would suggest The 12 Days of Christmas. It's a long song and it's repetitive and it's boring, right? Well, you haven't seen Pentatonix do it yet. I hope you do soon! Cheers!
Thank you! PTX can move anyone’s emotions completely from one end of the spectrum to the other with a song. FYI, I believe this was filmed in Batman’s cave!
I think they were brilliantly able to add more energy without taking away from the tone and meaning of the song. Obviously, this song would not work if it was as upbeat as Oh Come All Ye Faithful (and I know that's not what you were suggesting, either 🙂). PTX just really has such a great way of reaching into a song, pulling out the heart of it, and amping it up to the max, whether it be happy and light, or emotional and deep, or gut-wrenching and sad. Loved the reaction!
if you want them to switch it up definitely do 12 Days of Christmas! Also Joyful Joyful from the Evergreen Experience (studio version has a featured artist but Mitch takes over her parts live so that's why everyone's recommending the live version). BTW I know Scott gets most solos in their arrangements but I'd refrain from calling him 'the main guy' if I were you, it doesn't sit right with many people mostly cause there is no lead singer of the group. Anyway, loved the reaction, can't wait to see more!
I can’t say if I like Mary Did You Know or Oh Come All Ye Faithful better, they’re so different but equally brilliant, just depends what vibe you’re going for.
This is another one of my favorites señor !! Thank you. One that is quite underated song of theirs and Christmas music in general is "Where are you Christmas" just saying. :)
God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman and Silent Night are both truly impressive and really worth listening to out of all their Christmas music. Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy is another one that makes the Christmas playlist every year in our house.
Please react to their earlier Carol of the Bells. It’s amazing and even more amazingly is that their live version sounds exactly the same. Mitch is a beast as usual 😊
All PTX Christmas songs are wonderful. Seriously, can't go wrong. If you're looking for another that takes a 180 turn, definitely check out 12 Days of Christmas. So unique and simply great.
There is always a positive energy infused when PTX sings even sad or dark songs. As for comparing one PTX song to another, it's like asking me whether I like chocolate, nuts or oranges more. As long as it's good chocolate, nuts or oranges...I like them all. PTXs chocolate nuts and oranges are always the best quality out there.
This is my 2nd favorite Christmas song! My first is Breath of Heaven by Amy Grant...not a lot of people know it, though. Sad. But this song that they do is beautiful! ❤
PTX has the corner on Christmas!! Love their versions! This one is one of my favorites for the Season and esp, the way PTX sings it, but O Come All Ye Faithful is my top song by PTX. Can't be beat! Thanks for reacting. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Please, just for fun, you really have to react to 'Mr. Grinch' with Matt Sallee as lead. I've always said my favorite PTX song is the one I'm listening to at tthe time.
You want to vibe out, react to this live studio version of Avi's solo original from his 11-song, all-original album "Floating on a Dream", produced by Grammy-winning Shooter Jennings (who you'll see in the video playing the black Gibson SG) - "When I'm a Fool". It was recorded at the legendary Sunset Sound in LA with some of the best studio musicians there. And the jam session they get into is awesome. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LE24UTH3pmQ.html
Thank you Sean for giving us a Pentatonix Christmas this month of December. I’m loving your reactions so much. 💕 PTX Christmas songs definitely have a twist which makes them more fun to listen to and less boring. THATS CHRISTMAS TO ME is another great one
Each song will bring something different. You cannot compare it to O come all ye faithful. totally different beat. I understand why you like it better than Mary did you know because you like something more active and lively, but you are in the minority if you check out the other peoples choice. This is one of the top picks and showcases their harmonies much better.
as far as I'm concerned no one will beat PTX. Voctave did a collab with the original writer Mark Lowry,it;s more upbeat than the original you might like it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uaRpeMT1tjQ.html
