Today, I am visiting Sharjah one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. In my experience Sharjah does not have the best reputation amongst expats but this experience might change your mind.

Sharjah has been my favourite city since I was six years old visiting my mom's side of the family. Sharjah is only a new discovery for Western expats. It's a beautiful, family-oriented old city ruled by a more conservative and welcoming Sheikh. It's also a UNESCO-protected city (hence why it's the greenest city in the UAE). You can literally walk around at 3 am and feel completely safe.

LOOL 😂 just got back from Sharjah! I had such a lovely time!! Yes it’s the only dry state, more traditional & notably more conservative

Sharja to Dubai is roughly 30 minutes apart, in my part of South London it could take 45 minutes to drive from my house to Tesco which is under 1 mile away (thanks to “low traffic neighbourhood” schemes killing london)

Yes, Looking forward to that video. I think an uploaded video which is not perfect is better then a "none uploaded video". Don't be to self critical. You do a great job :-) It will help your YT channel anyway and will provide good information for other people as well. Kind regards

Basically each emirate provides something different. Dubai is more international, touristic, consumer friendly. Abu Dhabi is very pro scientific and AI research. Sharjah is the family and conservatism hub. Ras Al Khaima is for resorts and casinos now.

Still looking to visit RAK, surprised about the Casinos though

I'm struggling to understand why Sharjah is so expensive. Even comparable to Dubai and Abu Dhabi with less choice and more restrictions.
27 дней назад
I think it’s this particular area which is filled with the locals who are quite well off, but yeah I was also surprised with some of the prices

Sharjah. Dubai felt much more diverse

@davidicusb 19 дней назад
There's no way I'd live in Sharjah - especially at those prices! It's a dry-state - and there's not really anything going on there. I don't see it. Ras-Al-Khaimah would be a far more interesting alternative.

I like the fact that Dubai has a low tax rate and in general the UAE but the fact that is one of the most misogynistic countries out there I would think it twice. I think women were allowed to vote just in 2006. Women are forced to cover themselves in such a hot weather. I just can't and I don't understand why women would like to move there. I'm a woman and I will never.
@manni192
@manni192 27 дней назад
You need to learn to keep quiet instead of making yourself look stupid. There are no elections in the UAE so how did women get the right to vote in 2006?
@Intelligent.investor.7
@Intelligent.investor.7 27 дней назад
@@manni192 Voting rights for women in the United Arab Emirates The UAE is not a democracy, therefore Emiratis do not choose heads of state. Starting in 2006, however, the government began to allow men and women to vote or stand in the Federal National Council (FNC). In the years since, more people have been granted the right to vote and, in 2015, nearly a quarter of a million people took to the ballots. Interestingly, nearly half of the voters were women

@@Intelligent.investor.7 so you are saying men AND women were given the right to vote in local affairs at the same time? What's misogynistic about that? Stop with your xenophobia about countries where women are not forced to walk around half naked.
@Intelligent.investor.7
@Intelligent.investor.7 27 дней назад
@@manni192 having an opinion about something that denigrate women is not xenophobia. Why don't you check the stadistics about men killing women in arab countries because they don't wear a hijab? I also come from an arab family. Can I be allowed to have an opinion? lol.

I’ve noticed you never get a real answer from an immigrant. Why isn’t she using her “skills” in her country to make it a place worth staying in???
@DrAminaYonis
@DrAminaYonis 27 дней назад
Because if I stay in London, i’ll get my phone snatched as I walk down the street, attacked at night, low pay, dirty streets, unsafe for kids, crumbling healthcare….. and the list goes on. So, no I don’t want to fix the country, it’s not my job.
27 дней назад
How exactly do you expect regular people to make it a place worth staying? 🤔
