170 period photographs of people and cars dating back to the early 1900s make up this unique compilation. This collection of original period car images is drawn together from both my own photograph collections, and also from the many original motoring-related photographs that visitors to the Old Classic Car channel and website have kindly sent in over the years. Many show owners posed proudly alongside their cars, other are of people with cars in the background.
There are numerous collections of original car photographs here on the channel, the emphasis in this one is more about the people and their cars rather than just the cars themselves. Because of this I decided not to include a commentary for this one, rather letting the images "speak" for themselves.
Whenever I put one of these videos together I am mindful to always be respectful of the people featured in the photographs, no doubt most if not all of the people shown are no longer around and, in some cases, these often wrinkled and faded old photos may be the last reminders of their lives. They were all someone's son, daughter, mother or father. Sometimes their names are known, often they are not. In putting these collections together I hope they act as a reminder of how things used to be, how people lived, dressed, worked and played, and how the car helped facilitate all these things. The growing adoption and availability of the private motor-car as the 20th century unfolded offered opportunities for travel and experiences like nothing that had come before.
