I was born in 1987 raised in the 90’s. Pepe le pew is my favorite character. People gotta realize he’s a cartoon character not a real person. He’s not influencing nobody to harass women. In the real world, people should have the god giving common sense to know the difference between right and wrong. Pepe chase Penelope mistaken her for a skunk and Penelope chases Pepe mistakes him for a cat!!!! Pepe is a smooth talker and Penelope is a less talker!!! Get your facts right before you think about removing him from looney tunes!!! Save Pepe!!!!
@@ahassan4151 PePe was one of my favorite Looney Tunes growing up. That nigga had a "never say quit" attitude. But what makes him so crazy is that most women think that men don't try hard enough so PePe LePew is a product of them in reality. Shit goes to show that women dictate the narrative when it comes to men pursuing them.
Yeah, To watch Pepe Le Pew and not think that Pepe's advances were ridiculous and obviously not welcomed is almost preposterous. It may be so that the cartoon takes a lighter approach on a topic that is now taken more seriously. However, I don't think that Pepe was inspiring and perpetuating rape culture, instead mocking the apparent ridiculousness of making unwanted advances, perhaps at a level small kids could understand. Seeing this as a kid, that Pepe's actions could be role model for interpersonal relationships never once crossed my mind. The whole premise of the cartoon is that the female skunk goes to extreme lengths to avoid Pepe's advances.

The show showed the way he acted was wrong by the other characters reacted. I would much rather see people yelling at, shoving and kicking characters who act like that over shows and movies that glamorize sex
Same people who get offended by this are the people who praise Nicki Minaj, Cardi B and others who sing songs about sexual violence and other dirty stuff
Yeah, including people blaming transgenders for killing women’s sports, when people constantly refuse to watch, support or even invest in women’s sports in any way, shape or form!
@@onlyone23km you got it wrong. People dont invest because no one will pay to watch it, including feminists. It's rather supply and demand issue. But I can tell you one thing, if people hate your barbeque ribs you dont lure them in by selling worse ribs but trying to improve.
But let me tell you this. Kids could get influenced my this. Seriously the female skunk is trying. To get away but Pepe le pew isn’t letting her. He’s forcing himself onto her. I don’t understand the innocence in that. It may be a tv show but that doesn’t mean it’s not wrong. This whole thing made me very unsettled.
@@Idk750-p9z the whole point is he’s trying to be with the black cat because he thinks it’s a skunk and every time he gets beat up for trying to pursue her
Yep and still enjoying it. Got to say, I watched this as a kid (I’m 40 now) and have never sexually assaulted anyone. Incidentally, I have never made a bomb to try and kill a roadrunner, nor shot a rabbit or a duck
@@i8idiotsalways753 Facts!!! I guess that forgot that Elmer Fudd blew Daffy Duck's bill clean off with a freaking shotgun almost everytime they encountered each other lol.
People nowadays are so soft. Fiction isn't reality and not once has this cartoon ever made me think sexual assault is right. Next thing you know people will want to see Pepe in court so they can throw him in prison, I mean it's not like he's a drawing or anything. Growing up he was one of my faves just cause I love skunks
@@corinnecoulter1243 nope. Not a rape apologist. Just know how to tell the difference between fiction and reality. If you let a cartoon dictate how to feel about real life issues then that's a you problem. You've been on the internet too long if you can't determine what is real and what isn't. This skunk isn't really doing shit cause he's a drawing
@@corinnecoulter1243 and it'd be sexual harassment, not rape. Stop throwing that word around like nothing. I don't remember an episode where he performs sexual intercourse on her
This reminds me of me and my cat.. the eternal struggle for him to squirm his way out of my arms and escape my lecherous advances and unrequited affections 🐱😂
I've said this before and I'll say it again: Cartoons aren't to be taken literally, especially when approaching them from a child's point of view. Kids don't watch Tom and Jerry, for instance, and see a cat hunting down a mouse to kill and eat it the way an adult might. In a sense, Pepé Le Pew is a Johnny Bravo-typed character who's too convinced of his charm to realize that he stinks and that women aren't into him, hence his overzealous, cartoonish approach. Precisely *because* it's a cartoon meant for children, in fact, it's in no way sexual whatsoever. It's just the buffoonish antics of someone with cooties that grosses Penelope out and makes kids laugh, just like with the Kanker Sisters on Ed, Edd n Eddy, or any of the other children's cartoons which utilize the exact same trope. Maybe this is a show that wouldn't be made today, but the bottom line is ultimately this: real-life men who force themselves onto women learn to do so from their fathers, from their peers, from OTHER MEN, not from a cartoon skunk they watched when they were three and hadn't any knowledge or urges to act on in the first place. Canceling Pepé Le Pew does not help women; it does nothing but perpetuate the increasing media trend of problematizing inane issues, sometimes manufacturing issues altogether, thereby fomenting further resentment, anxiety and division in a society already torn apart to a dangerous degree. Americans by and large of all backgrounds want cultural change, but not this level of neurosis. The trend amounts to throwing gasoline and trash on a raging dumpster fire, and it must stop before we get to a breaking point of no return.
Exactly No kid ever thought "wow, that Pepe is one smooth dude-- I want to be just like him." He's an overly-confident moron, and an intentional object of ridicule. Almost seems like this will be the next headline: Films Will Not Be Allowed to Have Villains, Of Any Type "Not very nice people, shouldn't be emulated," critics say. 🙄
I cant be the only one who picked up the joke behind his character? She wanted to get away due to not being able to breath well around him duh. The epsisode where he sprayed cologne on himself she went wild for him. I noticed this at the age of 7
Absolutely and Ive seen a few episodes when she chases him, 1 when he covered his small with that cologne or perfume whatever then the paint, the paint fumes can easily cover that smell up.
Attention idiots who want to cancel Pepe *clears throat*: He. Is. A. Skunk. Penelope wasn’t trying to get away from him because he was flirty, she was trying to get away from him because he’s smelly.
@@foxglove65 i mean, most, if not all intelligent animals usually have males who attempt to act tough to get the girl. it's not really toxic, it's just natural instinct.
Nah we do have so many real problems but this is what we focus on to get the shift away on actual American issues. This is j my opinion but these sort of things are pushed so much regular citizens don’t become aware of the actual issues going on in this country. Had it not been for the insurrection on capital hill in January, then it still would only be focused on this
I watched Pepe and his romantic foibles when I was a kid and I laughed at it because I saw a skunk who was so blinded with love and infatuation that he just couldn't see the look on the poor cat's face . . . and I read her reaction as _"Oh my god - he's a skunk - not a cat . . . yuck!"_ - not as fear of sexual assault (we're talking about a kid's cartoon here, after all) . . . the whole premise is a misunderstanding on Pepe's part because the poor female cat somehow gets a stripe of white paint across her back that makes her look, to Pepe at least, like an attractive female skunk . . . FFS . . . can't people laugh at themselves anymore?
Imagine how the world would act if Johnny Bravo came back on TV. This world should just explode, humans have gone to the limit, god needs to take us out now.
I don't think people would have a problem with Johnny Bravo. He always got beat up by the women, or got some kind of karma at the end. The whole point of that show was to teach guys NOT to treat women that way.
Johnny Bravo was so awsome!! I still watch some episodes from time to time, including shows like cow and chicken, i am weasel, courage the cowardly dog and many more, still funny and I'm 31years old :))
I wonder if the same people who complained about Pepe will go after Pucca considering she stalks and forces herself on Garu when he's clearly not interested. Let's not even get started on the Kanker sisters from Ed, Edd, n Eddy...
Modern left-wingers make it VERY hard to stay left-wing. Pepe le Pew is just a cartoon character, Aunt Jemima is just a syrup, I do not support removing them altogether from anything. The 2% of us who complain just don't get Pepe (an overly-affectionate skunk that STINKS... how is that not comedy?) or realize that things happened between racist Jemima a century ago and modern Jemima since the 80s. (but modern GOP makes it very easy to stay tf away with their behavior and arrogance and greed, so I don't even know anymore)
People: Have a problem with Pepe and Speedy Also people: Are cool with Glenn Quagmire talking about Roofies, Meg, BSDM, and there's also Consuela promoting Lemon Pledge.
From what I see, Pepe shows that he has no ill intentions, he’s just not that smart when it comes to romance. He doesn’t wish to hurt anyone, he just doesn’t think about what he does. He’s got too much affection inside of him that he doesn’t know how to release it.
2:17 - DE LIPS OF PEPE R UPON U - PEPE IS HILARIOUS !!! Enjoyed watching him as a kid. Now that idiots are trying to cancel him, it just makes his antics even more funny. PePe's voice actors must have been rolling on the floor laughing at this madness.
If the cat would have the guts to just tell him that she is fed up with his stalking and just call the police. This cartoon is just silly and ridiculous and gives the silly and childish message that obsessive Love Stalking is o.k.Maybe I take this cartoon to serious, but in reality it is not o.k.I am happy that they banned him.I do not know if you would enjoy this cartoon if you were in that cats place.Would you enjoy in real life und somebody would constantly harass and press you like that?
A lot of the cartoons from the 50s 60s 70s wouldn't make it on TV now. I don't know why ppl are so upset that Pepe is no longer considered appropriate. It's like those racist Jim Crow crows in Dumbo. Shit is just not acceptable today. You can always watch it on your phone or TV at home.
Pepe Le Pew was actually a dig at the French and their history of not bathing. I'm willing to bet more based on Louis XIV, who was notorious for his stench (he rarely bathed) and womanizing.
Pepe le pew is just an exaggerated character assessment of classic french culture. Why does this need to be criticized? Its all a joke. Have a laugh stuff. Are people robots so that they cant interpret the humour in this? Im not even in favor of lewd or super vulgar comedic commentary, but for people to treat this like this is somehow apart of this category of unacceptable watchableness...its staggering
