Perfect Dark is still the best FPS ever made (PC Port on Steam Deck OLED) 

I didn't even know this existed. PD is still on a level that hasn't truly been surpassed after all these years. Will need to follow the project closely and see what they end up with in the future. Thanks for providing me just what I needed when I didn't even know I needed it.

I've been watching all of your output as of late but this right here made me a gyro believer. Perfect Dark is one of my very few all time favorites and playing it like this brings me so much joy. Thank you so much for the tutorial, input profile and config.

There's something so surreal about playing an old game that ran like ass on original hardware at high resolutions and a stable 60 FPS. It's like "is this how I remember Perfect Dark running on the N64?" And the answer is no. It ran way worse.

This channel keeps knocking it out of the park. I've both Perfect Dark and Goldeneye running on the 1964 emulator with giro on Steamdeck and I love them but this looks even better. Thanks for spreading the word! Definitely going to install.

The lauch commands was what I needed to get the PC Port working with linux. I got it working on windows last month with proton, but I prefer having a version that works natively (mostly due to not wanting to have compatdata that has a bunch of windows directories installed). This has been so helpful thank you.

It's incredible that on the year this game is set in, we got a full-on PC port from passionate fans. As for preference, I prefer the game in XBLA's remastered graphics. Though I will say the AR34 being made silver instead of its original black and brown colour scheme from the original was odd.

Nothing beats playing the definitive version of your favorite classics on the most comfortable controller you’ve ever had the pleasure of holding with a control scheme that is pure bliss to use. This system has offered everything I’ve ever wanted and more and was worth every penny I paid. I feel like I’ve said that before here, but like dang, it blows my mind everytime. Playing Perfect Dark currently with the same feeling. Not the best fps ever made though, that crown goes to Metroid Prime or Halo 2 which is also amazing on the Deck.

Thank you for this. Great tutorial, as always. One question: I followed your instruction to disable right stick Y invert, however the stick is still inverted when in ADS. How would I change this?

I have recently been playing the Xbox Live Arcade version of Perfect Dark via the Xenia emulator - works great. Using your guide I now have the PC port running too so am comparing the two versions to see which one I prefer - the Xbox version is prettier with updated visuals, but some of the character models have changed. The Port version is closer to the original and still looks good upscaled. Its a close call but right now I might be leaning to this version on my Deck - smaller in size (50mb vs 300mb), more efficient (around 10 TDP vs 20 TDP), and the PC port has more potential (and has gyro aiming).

Gonna give this a try! All I have been playing on the deck lately is retro shooters ever since I found your channel and started using gyro. I finished half life 2 and dusk, now I’m playing amid evil and doom 2. Question, it looks like your hands are resting on that table, did you find this hard to get used to? I can’t use gyro whilst sitting with my hands on my lap (comfiest way for me to game with the deck); I feel my movements are constricted if my hands aren’t in mid air and they are resting on something. This can be tiring if I don’t have something to rest my elbows on though and my hands start to fall asleep sometimes.

You're the best. Although when I set the Linux Run Time Sniper command in the game's shortcut launch options, the game instantly crashes on start-up. So when I removed the command, the game was able to run. Not really sure why this step wasn't needed in my case, but hopefully it wasn't too crucial to skip. Maybe it's because I'm using an LED Steam Deck Model, as opposed to the OLED counterpart idk. As for the controls, the right stick's deadzone is a bit small but the drift could just be a me problem. Amazing work.

It’s debatable. I think i actually prefer Goldeneye’s single player. Multiplayer wise yes Perfect Dark is superior. Perfect Dark single player is still very good though, don’t get me wrong.
