Just wanna say thank you so much for the video and the steam deck is now my favourite way to play apex legends. I have 300 hours on my PS5 and I eventually quit the game because of the unbearable input lag. I have always been expecting respond to fix the issue and many years later they still didn’t. I have been enjoying my deck recently and seeing your video, it occurred to me to give the game another chance oh my God, I have never played Apex Legends with such responsiveness and snappiness. I don’t have a fancy PC that can run the game and I’m 144 frames per second, so this is literally making me really happy and willing to give a second chance. Thank you so much for the video!
Could you explain a little more clearly how you tap strafe witj yoir config? Ive tried following what you say and its not very clear and i cant manage to do it
Thanks for the upload. I always knew gyro was the optimal way to aim on controller but struggled with the fact that the screen is the controller. I see now that I wasn't using the right stick enough to change my general looking direction.
You're the best. Although when I set the Linux Run Time Sniper command in the game's shortcut launch options, the game instantly crashes on start-up. So when I removed the command, the game was able to run. Not really sure why this step wasn't needed in my case, but hopefully it wasn't too crucial to skip. Maybe it's because I'm using an LED Steam Deck Model, as opposed to the OLED counterpart idk. As for the controls, the right stick's deadzone is a bit small but the drift could just be a me problem. Amazing work.
Thanks for the kind words. The Runtime fix might not be relevant anymore. I’m not sure. My deadzones are very small since I used to play Fortnite like a sweat back in the day pre-gyro. Really like the responsive input, but with gyro it’s not a must-have.
Only step I haven't been able to do so far is finding your input profile. I don't see the same list as you at all, only have 3 things in my community list and can't find yours in search either. Named it "Perfect Dark".
Appreciate this video was uploaded a while back now but out of interest what joystick and gyro sens settings do you use for L4D2 as I'm struggling to find a combo I like and your gameplay looks smooth af
From what I understand the Steam version is made by the developers of Aleph One. i.e. It’s the same. This tutorial might be redundant at this point. :)
At this point I've defaulted to just downloading your community controls knowing it will give me an awesome FPS experience on the deck. Would be good to know if you've tinkered anything with the in-game control settings too to make it work optimally?
my main issue with Touchpad vs RS is that TP has a limited range of movement, so you have to re-arrange you thumb on the pad every now and then. gyro also has this limitation, but it’s very fast and more precise than TP. The reason I run RS + gyro is because I can create inaccurate, but continuous movement with RS, and use gyro for limited, but very precise and fast movement. best of both worlds. :)
I had this working last year fine, but I recently booted it up again on the deck and there's some type of weird input delay, where the selection doesn't update until I push a button twice. For example, on the main menu if I push the d-pad to select "Restroom" the selection will actually be on a different option and take me there instead of what I clicked on. Anyone know how to fix?
Can’t even get past the start screen. None of the controls interact with the menu, and touching the screen makes a mouse pointer appear in the wrong place!
Since your Insanly good with gryo aiming and alot of controller steam deck stuff, I can imagine you going popular on streaming/game content creation if you just put alot of work to it. Really good job.
thanks so much for the praise. A lot of things happened in my personal life that take priority atm but im hoping to create more content again this summer. :)
Could you make a video on system shock 2 for best settings w gyro etc similar to your deus ex video? Thanks for the great videos. Love your taste in games . Boomers heaven.
thanks! i’ve actually been considering doing a SS2 layout/tutorial for awhile, but because getting the game to run smooth with QoL fan mods requires a bit of prep, I wanted to wait for the SS2 remaster by Nightdive to come out. However, in typical Nightdive fashion they are taking way longer than promised to deliver.
Great video. I have a question regarding triggers. This recently happened to me as of the beginning of the week. Was using my Xbox controller to play titanfall2 northstar and I guess because of an update, it stopped working and I’ve been remapping my controller since. One of the issues I’m having is when I press the left rigger and release it, the aim sight is still active instead or reverting to hip fire mode. Would you happen to know how to resolve it? Thx
I was getting frustrated with the Ravenfield because of the aiming problems. After this video I will try again to get it right. And also installing Fallout 4 and doing the same with it to be able to hit anything. :D
I have now tested this and found out, that I really don't like that gyro is active at all times. But in game it was actually quite good to aim. Instead I found another advice, that only needed me to change the gyro to act as an joystick and adjust the gyros "Enhance Small Movement Precision" slider. On top of that I did adjust the right joystick sensitivity to 400% to make my aim much better.
easiest way is to follow this tutorial (including the ZDL launcher) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d39wPx0JBro.htmlsi=zRkCWad1vPV1wy2A
the right trackpad sensitivity in apex game not good now in my steam deck , before there was a control bar but now nothing :( any one can help me ? 9:35
Is there a way to set all this gyro stuff up by default, and then tweak things within an individual game’s Steam Input config? Context: The problem I keep running into is that, between not being able to set up a baseline experience, and games not allowing m&k input while using controller inputs (auto detect swapping from one back to the other is arguably even worse)… I’m having a really hard time getting a gyro experience that can have any consistency for me to get used to. Setting gyro up As Joystick instead of As Mouse feels teeerrible and it seems to be impossible to increase the initial sensitivity and max sensitivity to a level consistent with the As Mouse experience. The only workaround that I’m aware of is to map the buttons to m&k inputs, but then you have all these things in the UI telling you to press this (but it’s not that, because you’ve mapped your buttons to emulate keyboard inputs, so it’s just distracting you). That doesn’t seem to be a problem for most, but it really throws me off. 😮💨
Inverted Y axis was the original standard for the first 3D games to use an analogue stick (on N64). So it tends to be what older gamers are used. Same goes for anyone who played a lot of flight sims (and of course, actual pilots).
Awesome video! I've been searching on here for almost an hour, looking for a video to kinda explain the basics of gyro aiming, and this was PERFECT! One suggestion, get some sound deadening in whatever room you're recording in. It sounds like this was filmed in an all concrete jail cell! 😂
great channel bro! got a steam deck today and your channel is quality! You are also really good at the games and doing the most optimal settings keep it up! 🔥i will sub!
Youre life saver man, i was struggle with Left4Dead cuz the aiming. But now i got my aiming way more 100% better than before thank to your tutorial video ❤.
