ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On RU-vid and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Thanks, Danny After the last 2 years of struggling with drives floating weakly to the right or snap hooking left, your explanation of turning the torso as if you are looking behind you and straightening the right leg I am now able to able to hit the driver with much more power and distance!

I’ve taken many lessons and looked at many videos on the backswing realizing it has been the biggest problem hindering me from improving my golf swing. I’ve always thrown my arms out and turned the club inside on the takeaway and lifted my arms up from there. This finally explained to me how to make a good turn back on plane without simply lifting my arms. Thanks so much! I’m already playing better.

A big thank you Danny. After 40 years of playing I have never really understood the importance of a torso turn v a shoulder turn and have always mistakenly thought you needed to keep the torso static! Your videos are so good especially the way you visualise the way movements should be made. Well done and once again a gig thanks.

William Sexton Nice Video! Excuse me for chiming in, I would love your thoughts. Have you heard about - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (just google it)? What a fantastic lesson. I tried it on the weekend and immediately felt the pop off the face of my driver. Once the energy is stored it is easy to transfer the weight to a full finish. This will benefit any golfer regardless of their age and ability. Who doesn't like to hit long straight drives.

Hee heee, love the walking illustration Danny. Why have i never walked to my ball to find my balance before instead of standing like a statue at the ball. I'm not a senior but put the torso turn and left heel of ground in backswing to practice at range and a definite difference. Will take it to the course next week. Thanks once again Danny.

Derek, I began with making sure that I turn my hips and core with my shoulders to the extent that I am able to turn my shoulders 96 Degrees and hips up to 53 degrees on my back swing. Theses turns used to be 83 degrees and hips were 42 degrees. It also probably helps that I spend 5 days a week in the gym with a trainer for the past 10 years. Also I am 6 feet 5 inches tall at 220 pounds. I am a 1 handicap.

i dont normally comment on videos danny but i was moved to do so after watching this...i have recently started playing golf again after a twenty odd year break from the game ...i saw you demonstrating every swing fault that i know that i now have...i used to drive the ball around 260 - 270 meters on average but now i struggle to get it out there 200 meters...my swing used to be envied by a lot of people because it produced effortless power...now i'm embarrassed by it...earlier today i had decided that the game i love was going nowhere and i was ready to give it away again but after watching this i feel that you have given me the tools to fix it....thank you danny

Danny, just came across this video and it was absolutely transformative for me. Based on the video, I found I needed to lean forward a titch more, (I thought my posture was fine). I also allowed my back leg to straighten up a bit on my back swing as you stated. I did find that my arms were able to clear my body better and I was able to get a bigger turn. I found I could square the club face at impact better. With a bit of a steeper swing, I also found that I am now hitting a higher trajectory shot (which I've wanted). To make a long story short, I've started shooting 9s under 45 again and I shot an 86 today...best round of the year...wish I had seen your videos previously...would have save me YEARS of aggravation!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

Danny, I watch all your videos intently , what I notice in this one is the slow take away speed. What has helped me enormously this year is the thought of the take away in slow motion to a full shoulder turn. I was in such a hurry to hit the ball I’d never get a full turn. Now if only I could master that perfectly balanced finish that you have. By the way, won GOY thanks to you. Cheers.

Your tip has gave me a way up. Don't know how but a strange move of flattening my right wrist got into my takeaway and caused a lot of power leak and frustration for last 45 days. This vid and the one about tinging of club to prevent from falling down by its weight has helped me. I made stronger drives and more penetrating iron shots today. My caddy, who is my driver also was very happy about the distances I was getting and lesser stray balls in the deep rough. Thanks Danny. I follow only you as a teacher for my game. I

Brian Butler Unfortunately Danny, many of my generation(born 1949) were taught to set up in the bum out, squat position, which had the effect of locking up the buttock, hamstring and calf muscles making a fluid motion into a proper turn almost impossible. A whole generation ended up not being unable to deliver the optimum energy into the ball.

My light bulb moment came with your video on keeping the upper arm connected to the chest. All things follow from this including the turn of the torso on the backswing. I believe this is why it feels so restrictive but it creates the power we wish for. We must resist the body's tendency to take the easy way i.e. arms only. Thanks Danny.

Excellent tips. A couple of observations as I am 71. Jack Nicholas lifted his left heel. Lee Trevino shifted his feet right before he struck the ball (kind of walked into it). I have an Orange Whip and use it like your club drill (and then swing with it) to maintain flexibility. While my handicap is too high, I find that I have more fun if I am flexible.

Trailjunkie thanks for reaching out...the swing always starts with the feet, see last weeks video where I get golfers to move the feet to help this happen more naturally

Danny: Great video. I have been practicing per your video and it works. Part of my practice routine is to hit those perforated plastic golf balls in the back yard using all the clubs in the bag. In the process I have made some adjustments that work for me. (And may not work for others). I am left handed so I keep my left foot back and out with my right eye on the ball. In addition I have found that allowing my right heel to come of the ground in the back swing helps in taking the club back and that the return of the right heel to the ground assist with the follow through. One mistake I make is in gripping the club to tightly in the palm with my right hand and and firing the head of the club at the ball with my left hand. If I am lucky this only results in a hooked but playable ball. If I am not so lucky it produces a lost or out of bounds ball. When this happens it is a welcome and immediate reminder to hold the club in the fingers and lighten up on the grip. I only say this because we seniors, that could never understand why we had to tell our children over and over again the same thing, for some inexplicable reason need constant reminders . Danny, this is a good method for get that club back using the body not just the arms. I'm still hitting those great iron shots from your other video. I am having to adjust to this new distance, overshot three greens yesterday :)

If there's a better teacher online or offline I'd like to know who he/she is. You're amazing because you don't teach without first explaining the reason, something I've found lacking in so many other places.

Great summary of good swing basics. I'm 68 years old, 15 handicap. When I do swing as you show in this video, the results are usually satisfactory. Side comment: October 5th date on this vid. You are wearing cool weather clothes and a knit cap. I love the UK, Ireland - Visit almost every year but admit the weather is atrocious. I live 60 miles north of San Francisco California. Played 18 holes today. Temperature was 87 degrees (American) with abundant sunshine. Come visit us here in Sonoma county, I'll treat you to a round at my golf club if you'll give me a lesson.

87 degrees Im in the wrong country. You lose more heat through your head hence wearing the hat 😁

Bingo, as per usual Mr. mind reader spot on. What insight for us old guys, often wonder how I played so well in my younger years. Watched your video while watching Liverpool play my team and I thought about going outside to hit balls. It’s cool here in Indiana also!

Not so happy with Leicester getting beat. However, I don’t mind Pool winning league as a 2nd choice. No love lost on Manchester teams since Rooney left! About to go to the course and put new swing to the test 🏌️

I've gained 10-15yds by clearing my hips in the downswing, but I couldn't understand why it wasn't always working. The concept of me forcing a hip clearance rather than it being a result of something else never occured to me. Thank you Danny.
